As Elena swam toward the gate of the mystical city, she enjoyed the amazing view that the city had to offer. The giant elder had visited this place a long time ago, so many things were now different from what Elena had seen in the dream realm.
According to the elder, even though he had made the city in the dream realm to not be very bustling mainly because creating nameless NPCs was too much work, the city itself was secluded and quiet when he was there.
But in the past thousands of years, many things had changed about this city. One of the major reason for all the changes was the sudden gain of popularity of the city and the change of management.
The elder's friend, the previous city lord was not fond of turning his home into a tourist spot, so he did not allowed many visitors.
But the new lord of the city had no such preference and he was more than happy enough to turn the city into a spectacle of the sea. As for the result of that, the city had definitely gotten a bit more bustling and busy but at the same time, various problems had also appeared in it.
The true inhabitants of the city were still not sure if this decision was good for them or not but for Elena and tourists like her, this was a very likeable decision. With this tourist friendly nature of the city, Elena was able to easily enter the city.
Even though the city was located in the middle of the water, most of the city was water free. The true inhabitants were all merkins so they felt more at ease in the water but to make the city more hospitable to the tourists, a large scale barrier was used to make a large portion of the city to be waterless.
Merkins loved water but they were still able to walk on land without much trouble. So they did not mind the loss of water too much as long as they still had water inside their houses. Their was still some dissatisfaction among the merkins but the current leader had turned a blind eye to that.
Even though most of the tourists preferred this decision made of the city lord, Elena was actually a little bit disappointed. The water filled city was perfect to match the underwater city's atmosphere. So the waterless city was definitely a bit of a let down.
But Elena did not worry too much about it and started to walk around the city. She also needed to find an inn, so she decided to also ask around for that.
The merkin shopkeepers were very kind and they helped out Elena quite a bit. They not only recommended the best inn to her, one of the shopkeeper even supplied Elena with a guide to show her the way.
The shops here were selling a lot of things including various rare gems and metals that could only be found near the city of Ikostia. There were also a lot of sea monster parts which were also been sold. The guide who was helping Elena told her that in the recent years, the city of Ikostia had became quite well known for their monster fish scale made armours.
Hearing this, Elena became interested and decided to check it out after getting her inn. The guide kindly also told her about many other things that she might find interesting. As Elena was a very beautiful lady, the guide was happy to get a chance to talk to her and told her a lot of things about the city.
...
After bringing her to the inn, the guide bid his farewell. He did want to spent a little more time with someone as beautiful as Elena but he needed to return to his father's shop soon or he would be beaten. So even though he was unwilling, he decided to return back.
Elena smiled a bit seeing this and entered the inn. It was not a very large inn but the decoration here was very beautiful. This inn also had its own magic formations to protect itself, so it was definitely a high class inn.
As soon as Elena entered, a beautiful receptionist with fin like ears greeted her. Staying in this inn was quite expensive but that was not a problem for Elena. At first she wanted the best room that this inn had to offer but it turned out that all the best rooms were currently booked. So Elena had to choose a different tier room which could be said to be the second best here.
Obviously if Elena wanted, she could have gotten the best room by spending more money. But she had no intention to kick others out of their rooms and the second best room was not bad at all. So she easily settled for that.
After checking her room out and being satisfied with it, Elena left the inn for a little walk again. She told the kitchen to prepare a lavish feast for her. It would take some time, so when Elena would return, the feast would be ready for her to devour.
...
At first she was planning to visit the armour shop but a different market was near the inn, so Elena decided to check that out first. While walking on the street, she did some shopping. She did not spend too wildly because the place where she was taking the walk was just a small flee market and she could not spend much here even if she wanted.
Most of the shops here were actually not owned by the merkins of this city. Most of the merkins opened their shops in the busy large markets, so the people who came to this city from outside sold their things here in the small market.
As most of the people here were also outsiders, the city did not put too much effort in maintaining the law in this part of the city, so this flee market was a perfect spot for illegal deals. Elena had not been walking for too long but she had already seen several people selling various kinds of troublesome drugs.
Elena did not do anything to stop this as those drugs were already spread throughout the whole city. So stopping these small deals would not solve anything and would make the true masterminds cautious instead.
So instead of stopping these deals now, Elena was planning to secretly report the law enforcement team of this city about these drug dealers. As for how the law enforcement was going to react to it, Elena was not going to lose her mind over that.
As Elena was walking while thinking this, she suddenly saw something that made her mood to turn very unpleasant. In a dark alley, a few shady people were selling slaves. In most places of this world, slave trading was illegal. But that did not stop a few corrupt merchants from still secretly doing this.
This was something that Elena always crushed thoroughly whenever she came across one. The slave trader that had caught Elena's eye was also selling little children, so that an even bigger sin in Elena's eyes.
So, once again, Elena got ready to completely crush a few organisations of this city. As for the commotion that would cause, Elena did not care about that at all.
So it was time for another "Crimson Catastrophe".
