After her third quick death, Azusa did not start the fourth fight immediately but instead started meditating while reviewing the previous two battles. Elena had shown her a few of her cards already, so Azusa was going to analyse them thoroughly.
This might sound underhanded but neither Azusa nor Elena minded that. So this was a perfectly fine thing to do. While doing the analysis, Azusa also started to come up with a strategy to somehow win this battle.
After training in the mini world, her level had gone up by only a single point but her fighting strength should have increased exponentially. Still, in both of the previous battle, that extra fighting strength had not given her any advantage against Elena.
That should not have been the case. Even if it was just a little bit, she should have been able to feel a difference. So why was that not the case ? After thinking about it a little, Azusa soon found the reason.
Even though her overall strength had increased, Azusa's control over her powers had also decreased at the same time. This was an obvious thing and there were very few people in this universe who were capable of taking advantage of that. But unfortunately, Elena was one such person.
So all the defeats that Azusa had suffered back to back were mostly because of her lack of control. After finding the reason behind this, next she started to think about a solution.
After thinking about it thoroughly, she only came up with just one solution as she had no time in hand. And that solution was to lower her power output so that she could have more control over her strength. As for how it would actually turn out to be, she could only judge that in a real battle.
...
With all her preparations done, she again faced off against Elena. This time, instead of trying to defeat Elena, her main aim was going to be staying alive for as long as possible. She also wanted to force Elena to show more of her techniques and skills.
As soon as the fourth fight started, Elena opened the battle with a special sword form called "Endless Slaughter". This was a new form that she herself had developed after taking inspiration from a low grade sword art of a good friend.
That sword art was called "Nonstop Killing Until Death". It was an extreme level art which was very strong offensively but had no defensive ability. The owner of the art was a Vampire with a very strong regeneration ability and that was the only reason why that person was able to stay alive for a decent amount of time with this almost suicidal technique.
As for the reason why Elena had started the match with a technique like this, that was because it was a very good counted to the fighting style of Azusa. With such a heavy handed offense, Azusa would be forced to focus on her defense which was not her strong suit. That would give Elena more chances to find flaws in her technique.
Sword Elena had used this move once before with massive success, so this time, Azusa was ready for it. She completely left her defense to her trusty armour and focused her all in the offense just like Elena, which was actually the best possible way to counter this move made by Elena.
After both she and Elena had gotten some injuries from each other's attacks, they changed their moves. This time, Azusa had managed to perfectly read Elena and had guessed when she was going to change her move. So for the first time in the battle, she managed to take the lead.
[Void Piercing Aurora]
[Sword of Desolation]
These were the two weapon arts used by the two combatants. This Void Piercing Aurora was a very famous move in the universe and the creater of this move was Lize, a level 8500 plus warlord and Azusa's mother. While the Sword of Desolation was a simple move that Elena had created based in some of her experience in her free time. The quality difference between them was insane.
As the sword and spear continued clashing, Azusa realized that she had managed to last longer than all the previous times in this round. But that was nothing to be happy about. The amount of pressure that she was feeling was insane and if she made even a little mistake, she would immediately die.
It turned out that Elena was unwilling to continue this stalemate and was the one to change her technique again. This time she used a technique which was still a work in progress but the quality of this technique was extremely high as she had put in a lot of effort for it.
The name of this technique was still not finalized so Elena just call it "Destruction Type Sword version 19.8". It had went through 19 major updates and even the recent version has seen 8 major changes done to it. Elena was confident in finalising this move in two or three more versions.
As soon as this move was used, Azusa was cut in half. The upper and lower part of her body were separated with a very clean cut. That would have been the end for anyone, but as the cut was too clean, Azusa managed to perfectly heal herself up even before her death.
But this sudden move gave Azusa a fright as she had no idea how she had actually almost died. She did not sense any attacks before her body was suddenly bisected.
Even the emotionless sword Elena looked a bit surprised by the strength of this move. But that suprise did not last even a moment before she made her move again. It was the same exact move as the last time.
Azusa very closely observed Elena in order to find out what this move actually was but her efforts were in vain. Just like the last time, before she could sense or understand anything, her body was bisected again. And this time, sword Elena had taken proper anti recovery measures and even had launched the attack a bit sloppily to make sure that the cut was not too clean. So this time, Azusa was unable to heal herself and died for the fourth time.
...
Even though she had managed to last quite bit longer this time around, Azusa was feeling even more hopeless than before. The reason for that was obviously the move thar that Elena had used to kill her.
She could not figure out anything about this technique. How it worked ? What kind of laws it used ? What it did ? Azusa had no idea. That unknown was the scariest thing. If she could not find anything out about this technique, she would definitely have no chance of clearing this trial.
So what would Azusa do now in this despairing situation ?
