Realm of Infinity

Chapter 50: An ancient demon

Noah stood at the edge of the empire's northern wall, staring at the horizon where thousands of epic-ranked monster carcasses stretched like a dark red carpet. Their blood had dried long ago, but Noah's mind was in turmoil.

He was angry, immensely angry.

He wanted nothing more than to tear the natives apart.

He wanted to crush their clans, break their elders, burn their so-called holy lands, and erase every single one of them who dared look down on his civilization.

But he couldn't do any of that.

Not yet.

He could kill their warriors. He could destroy their armies. But the real problem wasn't them. The real problem was their ancestor-level powerhouses. A civilization became a native civilization once its leader surpassed the mythical realm.

Until now he had faced epic-ranked monsters at best. He had not fought a mythical creature, let alone something beyond that level.

Only after surpassing the mythical realm could one become a true native of this world. And those clans likely had more than one such entity. No one could say for sure whether they had someone even stronger.

Noah clenched his fist.

Even if he used everything he had right now, he wouldn't make one of those monsters blink.

He needed the Law of Creation. He needed to push it to one percent, then two, then higher. Only then would he have the foundation to challenge beings beyond mythical.

He exhaled and called out calmly,

"System. Is there a way to buy a protection period for my civilization? Something where no one can attack?"

A soft chime answered.

[1 million coins are deducted for the inquiry fee.]

[Yes. There are temporary protection periods available.]

[Cost: 1 day safe period for 1 quintillion coins.]

Noah's eye twitched.

"One quintillion... for one day?"

The system did not reply, but he could almost feel it smirking.

It was daylight robbery. But he had no choice. If the natives attacked while he was training again, the empire would be wiped out before he even knew what happened. And even if he knew, what could he do if they unleashed mythical-grade monsters?

He let out a long breath.

But he was not panicked. The carcasses piled outside the walls were worth an absurd amount. Epic-level monsters, thousands of them, and every single one enhanced by the one hundred times multiplier he had.

Last time, the experience alone from killing them nearly gave him one hundred quintillion coins. If he sold them, he would definitely get at least that much.

"System. Sell everything."

The ground trembled as the mountain of corpses vanished, absorbed into the system's vault.

A second later:

[You have gained 100 quintillion coins.]

His balance jumped instantly to one hundred fifty quintillion.

Noah did not hesitate.

"Buy a one hundred twenty day protection period."

The system responded immediately.

[120 days protection period is purchased.]

[World-wide announcement: Earth Empire is now under the protection of the system for 120 days. All hostile actions are prohibited until the timer expires.]

A vibration rippled across the sky as the announcement echoed through every race, every city and every clan in the region.

A divine golden barrier unfolded around the Earth Empire like a second sky.

Noah allowed himself a small smile.

"That should shut them up for a while."

He turned toward the vast training ground where thirty-six thousand soldiers stood in formation. They were silent, disciplined and their eyes glowed with hunger for power.

Today they had experienced what true powerlessness felt like.

If Noah had not arrived in time, they would have been wiped out completely.

And that would not have been the end. The fate of Earth was tied to them. If they died, Earth would vanish with them. Noah alone was not enough to hold the line.

He raised a hand.

"You are all advancing today."

A ripple of excitement passed through the army, but they held their stance.

Noah activated the technique that allowed him to transfer experience. Bright streams of energy flowed from his body into every soldier like rivers of light.

Hours passed.

The sun fell. The moon rose. The empire lights dimmed.

And after twelve straight hours:

Boom.

Boom.

Boom.

One after another, eruptions of aura exploded across the training ground.

Thirty-six thousand soldiers broke through to the legend realm in a single night.

Noah felt a tide of power surge into his panel.

[6 quadrillion star power added.]

It was a good boost, but his power had already surpassed six hundred quadrillion. It was nothing more than a small push. Useful, but not enough to bring him closer to mythical.

He looked at his troops with satisfaction.

"Each of you will receive the locations of the law comprehension sites. Go group by group. For the next one hundred twenty days, no one can touch the Earth Empire. Make the most of it. Become as strong as possible."

His voice was calm, but every soldier felt the weight behind it.

"We will do our absolute best, your majesty. We will not let you down again. The Earth Empire must be invincible."

Their roar shook the ground.

"I am leaving now."

He said nothing more. He turned and vanished from the empire, appearing directly at the cave again.

He needed to push the Law of Creation to one percent as fast as possible. Then he needed to break through to level seventy two. That would double his mana reserve again, giving him the ability to create enlightenment stones for his own use.

Meanwhile, in the Native Families

A meeting hall filled with crystal lamps shook under the pressure of dozens of powerful auras.

Elders slammed their fists onto the table.

"Where did this bastard get enough coins for a one hundred twenty day protection?"

"He is a monster. He killed thousands of epic-ranked beasts in a single sweep."

"At this rate, in four months he will grow into something we cannot stop."

One elder rubbed his forehead. "We should have asked the ancestor for help earlier."

Another nodded slowly. "Once this protection ends, we will call him. No matter the cost. This threat cannot be allowed to grow any longer."

The hall fell silent.

They had underestimated the Earth Empire.

They had underestimated Noah.

And now they had one hundred twenty days to prepare for a war that would decide the fate of their region.

The Earth Empire sat on the western continent of the Seraphim Region, but most of its citizens had no idea what that land truly was.

On the surface it looked like barren mountains, broken plains and floating ruins. But beneath that silence was a truth so ancient and violent that even mythical beings did not dare step foot here lightly.

This land had been the battlefield of two god-tier races.

Ancient Demons.

Angels.

The firstborn children of the Realm of Infinity. Races whose kings could destroy multiverses with a gesture and whose emperors could make entire worlds kneel. Their power was supreme and their existence was revered and feared across every other races.

And it was the battlefield of this two races.

The war was so catastrophic that the continent cracked apart. Oceans evaporated. Mountains collapsed. Entire civilizations from that era, both native and player, were erased in an instant.

The ground still carried the scars.

The laws never fully healed.

The air still held traces of divinity and corruption woven together like fading memories.

After the war, the system intervened.

It sealed the entire zone, blocking god-tier races from entering low-level regions like Seraphim. Both angels and demons were forced out so the lower regions could develop without being erased by their presence.

At least, that was what everyone believed.

But the system's seal was not perfect.

Deep inside a folded part of space, hidden between fractured dimensions left behind by the ancient war, something had survived.

Something powerful enough to remain undetected for millions of years.

The fold of space trembled for the first time in ages. Hairline cracks spread across the invisible pocket dimension. A dark light flickered within it, followed by a low rumble like an old god stirring from sleep.

A faint voice echoed.

"...So this place still stands."

A hand pushed outward from the crack. Dark, refined, etched with crimson lines that pulsed like the heartbeat of a titan.

The fold resisted for a moment.

Then it tore open.

A figure stepped out.

He resembled what modern people imagined a demon to be, but no modern demon could compare. His presence was regal and ancient. His obsidian skin glowed with shifting patterns. His long black hair streamed behind him like liquid shadow. Four ethereal horns floated above his head like drifting crowns.

Behind him, six vast wings spread open. Not feathers. Not flesh. Pure dark energy shaped like blades of night.

He inhaled deeply, sensing the world he had been separated from for so long.

"So much has changed," he murmured. His voice vibrated through the land itself. "And yet, so much remains the same."

His violet eyes narrowed as he looked at the scarred plains below.

"For millions of years I remained sealed in that broken fold. A remnant of space the angels failed to erase."

He smiled faintly.

"They thought they destroyed all of us."

His wings trembled, sending ripples through the air.

"They thought I fell."

He looked up at the dim sky, feeling the weakened laws of the region.

"The system barred our entry into low-level worlds. But because I was trapped within the battlefield fold, it never detected me. The seal became my prison, yet also my protection."

He clenched his fist.

"And now the seal is gone."

The continent shuddered under the pressure of his aura. Dust lifted. Clouds twisted. The dormant laws of the ancient battlefield trembled as if recognizing him.

The being cast his gaze across the west continent with calm, predatory interest.

"This world is weak. Its natives are weak. Even its supreme beings are children compared to the forces of the Primordial Age."

His smile sharpened.

"This is a perfect place to begin anew."
