Due to the sudden rush of the lead priestess girl into the crowd, people were momentarily taken aback, and then it erupted into chaos.
"Hey, hey, what's that child doing, who is that man to her?"
"Her dad? They don't look that far apart in age, but as a couple, it's a bit much..."
"Boyfriend? Should we call the Order Frost Heart Corps over?"
The expressions of the citizens in the front became increasingly peculiar, while those in the back, who hadn't seen what happened, developed more and more skewed interpretations as the story passed from person to person.
"What? The blessing dance stopped? Is someone causing trouble?"
"Looks like someone is harassing the lead dancing girl."
"What! I need to act righteous now!"
Li Ang had experienced vast battlefields with hundreds of teams fighting, even battled magical beasts that could transcend world dimensions, and had been present at guilds' ceremonies, feeling the gaze of tens of thousands.
But those were all serious occasions, unlike the current moral inquisition unfolding in front of him.
Yet, amidst the surrounding chaos, Zoe seemed to detach from the whole world, clinging onto Li Ang, her face buried into his embrace, caring only about voicing her feelings.
"You lied to me; you were late by six meals' time."
Li Ang originally wanted to explain about the boat's slow speed, but thinking of how this little cat might miss him every now and then, he swallowed his words and instead apologized.
"I'm sorry, I rushed back as fast as I could."
"You must compensate me."
Zoe lifted her head, her red eyes brimming with watery light.
"Okay, okay."
"You have to practice swords with me, and practice the magic Sister Eden taught me..."
"Sure, sure."
"And you have to sleep with me."
"Don't say things that can be misunderstood out here!"
The girl's intention was obviously like those night talks on Satus Island, but others wouldn't understand the situation.
Dorothy, nearby, let out a near shriek.
Li Ang noticed out of the corner of his eye that, as Zoe caused a stir, the lady's expression changed from astonishment to confusion and then to extreme panic.
It seemed she had mentioned not being good with crowds before, but suddenly found herself in the eye of the storm. Although she wasn't the cause, she couldn't extricate herself, looking almost as if she were suffocating, nearly fainting on the spot.
"Quick! Get down from there! This is in public! Goddess! How can there be someone so wantonly reckless!"
Dorothy's pronunciation lost its usual noble accent.
Zoe blinked, turning to look at the unfamiliar girl shouting nearby.
"Who are you?"
"I am, I am...?" Dorothy struggled with her words.
After repeating herself twice, she gritted her teeth and said, "I am! I am the one going to stop you!"
The square in front of the Frost Tower Church was not only filled with citizens but also all sorts of adventurers.
"Hello, do you need help?"
"The youth nowadays, sigh. What are they talking about?"
"Where's my blessing? Hurry and give me the blessing!"
"Is the dance still on or not? I don't care what you guys are doing, let me see the High Priest dance, I've never seen a beast-earkin lady with such a generous bosom."
The various tones and perspectives of speculation, whether polite inquiries or rough interventions, people had different purposes and concerns, only adding to Dorothy's dizziness.
The half-elf young girl, almost in tears, grabbed Zoe, trying to separate her from Li Ang.
Zoe raised her eyebrows, glaring at this strange woman who suddenly appeared, kicking her lightly like a cat waving its paws.
"Stop it, let's just sneak away first."
Li Ang had intended to sneak away after Zoe's shocking statement, but for some reason, the crowd behind surged forward, pushing many into the area where the dance originally took place,
Even though the priests attempted to maintain order, the crowd was large, creating a mix of pushing forward and backward.
Eden's fluffy ears twitched, she raised her hand and released a burst of icy mist, as lots of snowflakes floated and formed various patterns.
This grabbed the crowd's attention slightly but the commotion hadn't calmed down yet.
"Everyone! Listen to me! I have something to say!"
A loud male voice thundered through the scene, shocking many people who turned to look, the shout came from a middle-aged man with graying hair.
It was Li Ang's old commander, Viel, making a powerful appearance, showcasing the commanding voice he had honed during adventures, once able to penetrate an entire battlefield. Li Ang once suspected it was one of his innate skills.
Viel winked at Li Ang, giving a familiar "contact later" gesture with a thumbs up.
Li Ang quickly hugged Zoe and squeezed through the crowd, taking advantage of this opportunity as Eden signaled the priests to start playing music and singing directly.
As the music started playing, the movement of the crowd slowly ceased, gradually making way for the priests.
Li Ang, holding the petite girl and pulling along the panting half-elf lady, ran behind a thick pillar outside the church.
No one paid them any attention anymore; they were temporarily safe.
Li Ang exhaled a long breath and looked at Zoe with a headache.
"Foolish..."
About to scold her for causing trouble, he found her face pressed against his chest, calmly closing her eyes, a smile blossoming at the corners of her mouth.
No matter how chaotic the world was, as long as she had him, she felt a boundless tranquility.
Li Ang let out a long sigh.
He had made his choice, what could he do, he could only educate her gradually.
"So spoiled." Seeing Li Ang's initially faintly annoyed expression turn to helplessness, Dorothy, blanking out in their excitement, softly muttered in disappointment.
"Get down." Li Ang patted Zoe's back.
The girl didn't let go, instead hugging even tighter.
"Won't get off if I don't get my gift."
"Gift?"
Zoe opened her eyes, her eyes brightening with light, her grip slowly loosening.
Just about to place her back on the ground, Li Ang noticed her bare feet were about to step on the cold floor, so he kept holding onto her for now.
However, Zoe shifted, jumping to the ground herself, and before her pink soles touched the floor, a layer of Earth Rock material quickly formed, isolating her from the frost-covered floor tiles.
"When did you learn this trick?"
"Gift, gift!"
The girl's focus wasn't on answering Li Ang's question at the moment.
"Wait until we get inside."
Li Ang pushed away the curious little cat trying to reach into his bag, seeking Eden's whereabouts.
As if answering his call, the beast-eared woman danced a spinning step, releasing a flurry of frost and snow, vanishing within it.
The crowd gasped and laughed, thinking it was some blinding technique or magical effect, making the celebration even more lively.
In front of Li Ang and his companions, tiny blue lights appeared and gathered mid-air, and just when Dorothy was about to ask, Eden's form appeared amidst the blue glow.
Eden greeted Li Ang: "Greetings, companion of the Divine Child."
"Esteemed guests, please follow me." She gestured, leading the three of them towards the side of the church.
Li Ang followed suit, Zoe bouncing along beside him, as she stepped on the ground, Earth Rock material shields instantly formed beneath her feet.
"Wha- What companion?" Dorothy asked softly from the side.
"It's a kind of title."
"You're so sly." The half-elf with her hands behind her back, keeping pace step by step: "I guessed it, I guessed it, how could it be just an ordinary member. But I can't really say about others..."
Eden led the trio through a side door into the church's interior, and Li Ang thought she'd take them to a reception room soon, only to find her leading them further into the church.
The further they walked, the higher the church's dome seemed, finally descending into dark shadows where the lamps along the corridor on either side couldn't illuminate, only fuzzy dark blue shadows could be seen.
At the end of the passageway, Eden waved her hand, opening a giant door driven by magic, revealing a vast space in front of them.
