"What next after luring them?" Dorothy asked, a bit anxious.
"You'll know when the time comes, this is to train your ability to adapt."
Li Ang said, "Stick to the plan, don't just blindly kill them all, otherwise we won't get much material."
Zoe bounced on the spot, clearly ready, but Dorothy seemed to have more to say.
"Um, shouldn't we strategize first..."
Zoe drew the Wind Breath Sword and walked to the edge of the hill, "It's such a simple task, there's no need to plan. Are you scared?"
"I, I'm," the Half Elf obviously wouldn't admit it, "How could I be afraid of demons below Tier Four?"
She rubbed her hands together. Earlier in the layered passage on Spark Island, they found the Tier Three Gloves Mars's Grip which Li Ang cleaned and gave to her, so she would have an attack method other than the Demon-Born Flower.
"Don't hold me back."
As soon as Zoe finished speaking, she jumped down the hill, landing on a round stone buried in the sand.
Her boot heavily stomped it into the sand, causing ripples.
Li Ang gently pushed the Half Elf's back, "Go on, you always need training. I can't coddle you; you must face danger gradually."
"Ahhh!" Dorothy was pushed off the small hill, tumbling into the soft sand.
The height here posed no threat to her, only made her look a bit disheveled.
Li Ang stepped back, detouring towards the Salt Pool, giving the two girls space to move.
The Half Elf climbed up, shook the sand from her hair, spat twice, and saw the rock in front of her shaking too.
Sand fell from its rough surface as a head, looking like a mix between a crocodile and a turtle, rose from the sand. It was almost as big as a human head, and its yellow-to-brown beak looked extremely sharp. The scales on its thick neck grew backward, looking quite formidable.
"Ah!"
Dorothy scrambled to crawl away, but the Crocodile Turtle's massive mouth already shot out, biting her cloak.
The Half Elf yanked hard, tearing a piece of fabric from her cloak.
She rolled and crawled, trying to get as far away from these demons as possible.
On the other side, surrounded by awakened Sandstone Spiral Turtles, Zoe was not worried at all. Her Wind Swordsmanship inherently countered these Earth Attribute demons. After swinging the sword to unleash a few Wind Blades, the sharp airflow cut into the cracks of these land Crocodile Turtles' scales, making them roar and hiss in pain.
All the nearby Crocodile Turtles snapped at the young girl, but she was agile and swift, quickly shifting positions and jumping to the outskirts of the demon group.
At least half of the dozen Sandstone Spiral Turtles immediately spread their four legs, sprinting after Zoe with speed uncharacteristic of turtles.
The young girl's little boots kicked up sand as she ran in the direction Li Ang indicated, with the wind around her whipping ripples in the sandy surface.
"Damn it!" Dorothy struggled to pull her legs out of the sand while dragging the cloak, barely dodging the pursuing Crocodile Turtle.
After running a short distance, two more set her as their target.
"I...I'm terrible at running!"
Even with the Ring of the Vigorous Champion aiding her, the Half Elf was still panting for breath. She had dressed in what she thought was more practical clothing this time, rather than covering herself completely as before, but still felt her clothes were a burden, tightly wrapping around her.
She knew, of course, that this feeling was due to her poor physique. In the past, she might have just collapsed in the sand, defenseless.
A Sandstone Spiral Turtle quickly approached, clamping down on the Half Elf's calf and piercing her delicate skin instantly.
Dorothy immediately released the magic power from her gloves, a large spray of sparks in a cone shape enveloping the entire Spiral Turtle.
The intense sparks slipped into the gaps between its scales, burning its skin to blackened ash, as the turtle rolled in pain on the sand, but it didn't let go. Instead, it pulled Dorothy along with it as it rolled.
"Ah! I, I can't lure it away! I have to fight back!"
The pain made Dorothy grit her teeth as the fabric on her back ripped apart, revealing several Azure Vines bursting out, twisting and entwining, blossoming into a bud larger than the Crocodile Turtle's head.
The Demon-Born Flower rapidly approached the Crocodile Turtle, the bud blossomed, but with the turtle tugging at her calf, Dorothy couldn't find an opening. In her pain, she quickly attacked, and the Demon-Born Flower bit into the turtle's back armor.
Quetchrrr—
As expected of the Demon Flower's power, even the demon-magic-enhanced Rugged Shell was instantly cut open by the Sword Core, spilling blood.
The Crocodile Turtle, in pain, did not let go but instead, grew fiercer in its attack, attempting to sever the Half Elf's calf entirely.
"Damn it! Damn you, vile creature!"
Dorothy controlled the Demon-Born Flower to repeatedly assault, ultimately ripping the Sandstone Spiral Turtle's limbs apart, and finally wrapping its body, as small flowers bloomed on the Azure Vine's surface. The vine shredded everything, including the turtle's shell, skeleton, and internal organs, leaving the sandy ground soaked in blood.
"This won't do!" Li Ang shouted from afar, "You're ruining all the materials by doing this!"
"But, but I had no choice..."
Having destroyed one Sandstone Spiral Turtle, Dorothy sat on the sand, panting heavily. Her Demon-Born Flower was currently at Tier Four. Though she felt no pressure in facing demons alone, she personally endured the pain.
Releasing Healing Art on her calf and utilizing her own healing abilities, the deep wound down to the bone began to heal.
Due to the Demon-Born Flower's brutal assault, the two Crocodile Turtles that pursued her temporarily retreated but still hadn't abandoned their target.
With a Tier Two Demon's Combat Wisdom, they found it challenging to distinguish the fragile Half Elf from the Demon Flower.
