Find a Troubled Girl after leaving the Guild

Chapter 87: Shocking Upheaval in the Sand Sea (Part 2)

The heads of the two Sandstone Spiral Turtles retracted mostly into their shells, while their limbs quickly skidded across the sand for propulsion, then retracted as well, using magic power to spin themselves on the sand.

Their brightly colored plastrons have a gemstone-like hue, making them popular accessories among ordinary people in the Salem Sky Realm, due to magic enhancement and friction against the rough ground.

And when the rough edges of their shells start spinning, they become highly destructive saws. Once their prey exposes its weakness through impact, the hidden crocodile mouths inside the shells snap out suddenly, causing severe damage.

Coupled with their group behavior, this combat technique is further reinforced, which is why they are difficult-to-deal Low Tier Demons.

The two demons turned into highly impactful small chariots in an instant, crashing fiercely towards Dorothy.

The inexperienced Half Elf was caught off guard by their sudden attack, hastily using the Demon-Born Flower Vine for defense, but while the vine was sturdy enough, her own body was very light. The impact from the two demons sent her flying, rolling onto the distant sand.

The blood scent from her killing of a Sandstone Spiral Turtle caused many of the individuals originally chasing Zoe to turn back and attack Dorothy instead.

Zoe frowned, raised her sword, and cast her spell. Green Wind Elements converged into arrows in her palm, which she shot at the demon horde.

Now at Tier 3 as an Elemental Master, drawing magic power to cast magic using elements in nature wasn't difficult, and even Elemental Arrow was a spell she could perform since her time on Satus Island.

Utilizing the Wind Power provided by Treasure Artifacts to cast the Wind Elemental Arrows, combined with her innate talent, the young girl's Elemental Arrows were quite powerful, producing sharp whistling sounds while airborne.

The spinning Wind Arrow knocked one Spiral Turtle away, the scattering wind streams shattering many delicate scales, splattering a circle of blood on the sand.

Some Spiral Turtles turned back to attack Zoe, prompting her to fire a second Wind Arrow, aiming to further draw the demons' attention.

"Run quickly!" Zoe reminded Dorothy.

"Ah, yes, thank you."

The Half Elf looked at the young girl, nodded, and took the opportunity to slip out of the encirclement.

Zoe's second Wind Arrow knocked another demon away. As it landed, it shook its body, retracted into its shell, and began spinning with a hissing sound.

As if prompted, the nearby turtles all started spinning simultaneously. In an instant, sand and dust swirled crazily on the sand's surface, and the demon horde erupted in chaos, causing the scene to spiral completely out of control.

"Why is this happening!"

Encompassed once again, Dorothy hurriedly released more Demon-Born Flower Vines. They spread into a net-like structure that plunged into the ground, temporarily forming a shield similar to a turtle shell, defending against the Sandstone Spiral Turtles' repeated crashes.

Making these turtles riot could destroy an entire Mortal Realm adventurer team, but Dorothy's Demon-Born Flower was no ordinary creation, and for the moment, it held off their continuous spinning attacks. It was hard to say who was the real turtle.

Nevertheless, Zoe was a bit flustered.

"Why would..."

She found Li Ang's figure and shouted, "What should we do?! We can't draw them away now!"

Li Ang understood she took action to help Dorothy and was trying to attract their attention, but not knowing these demons' ferocity caused the riot instead.

At this point, stopping the turtle horde was impossible. They needed to start combat in an unplanned location.

"If we can't draw them away, lead those things over!" Li Ang pointed toward the Flying Snakes near the Salt Pool.

The young girl turned her head, immediately sprinting towards the Salt Pool, aided by the wind.

From a distance, the silver-white arid ground shimmered. As she got closer, she saw the white murkiness of the Salt Pool, mixed with a vast amount of sandy minerals.

Nearby, dark green serpent-like creatures swayed, each over two meters long, but thicker than common snakes, with skeletal structures propping a pair of fleshy wings sideways.

Altered by magic power, the texture of their fleshy wings resembled wing membranes more than muscular snake bodies. When they moved their bodies, they could flap and fly.

Although their flight speed wasn't fast, their altitude advantage allowed them to contend with ground prey like the Sandstone Spiral Turtles, which were basically at their mercy. They only needed to spray poison to kill before entwining on the ground, with few creatures of the same tier able to resist their attacks.

The Salt Pool had virtually become a haven for these demons. Some lurked in the water to lower their body temperature while ambushing prey, while others, having eaten their fill, leisurely soared above, stretching their bodies.

As soon as Zoe arrived, the Poisonous Snakes promptly displayed aggression, flying towards her.

After casting several Wind Blades, she turned and sprinted towards the Sandstone Spiral Turtle horde.

The Poisonous Flying Serpents followed closely behind.

"Li Ang! What next?" the young girl shouted loudly.

Not long after, the Flying Snakes seemed hesitant to pursue further. They saw the Sandstone Spiral Turtles rioting and, although unable to harm them, preserved some instinctive caution typical of demons, reluctant to intrude on another demon's hunting ground.

Li Ang unsheathed the Silver Heart Sword in the distance, controlling spirituality to create a silver light blade and arcing it outward.

The silver light fell in the path of a Spiral Turtle's rotational advancement, altering its trajectory from a plane to about a thirty-degree angle.

The rotational force propelled the Spiral Turtle off the ground, crashing into Flying Snakes mid-air.

Despite their slow flight speed, the large serpents found avoiding collision difficult, resulting in a direct hit.

It crashed to the ground with the impact, while simultaneously the Spiral Turtle stretched its head to bite its body.

The collision of the rock-pecking beak and snake scales momentarily failed to cause effective damage.

The Flying Snake widened its jaws, baring its fangs and frenziedly spraying venom.

The venom dripped along the Spiral Turtle's shell, seeping through its armor and sending it into a violent spasm, intensifying its attack before it abruptly stopped, completely still.

The Poisonous Flying Serpent pried itself free from the clutching turtle's maw, spread its membranous wings and attempted to take flight again.

"Li Ang, what about those?" Zoe shouted.

Without running much further, she almost tripped, but stabilized herself and stayed on course.

Some of the remaining Serpents had already lost interest in the ongoing commotion, but Li Ang's silver light blade landed beside one of the retreating reptiles, provoking it to take flight once more.

Nearby crusader turtles continued their assault, sending several more of the creatures careening into the sand.

Being hit by the spinning turtles, the serpents were thrown into disarray.

As the two sets of magical beasts clashed, the battlefield descended into total chaos.

"Why is this happening!"

Dorothy was surrounded again, quickly deploying more Demon-Born Flower Vines to weave into a sturdy shield that momentarily withstood repeated assaults from the Sandstone Spiral Turtles.

Had these turtles gone on a rampage, they might have annihilated a whole Mortal Realm adventure team, but Dorothy's Demon-Born Flower was no ordinary creature, holding its ground against their relentless spinning onslaught. It's hard to say who the real turtle was in this scenario.

However, Zoe was starting to panic.

"Why is this happening...?"

Spotting Li Ang, she shouted, "What now?! We can't lure them away anymore!"

Li Ang knew she was trying to help Dorothy by drawing attention, but unfortunately, her lack of understanding of the demons' aggressive nature triggered their rampage instead.

At this point, it was impossible to stop the turtle pack, they had to engage out of their planned location.

"Since we can't lure them away, let's lure them towards those things!" Li Ang shouted, pointing towards the Poisonous Flying Serpents near the Salt Pool.

The young girl turned her head, immediately propelling herself towards the Salt Pool with the help of the wind.

In the distance, the silvery dry ground shimmered, and upon closer inspection, the brackish Salt Pool mingled with large deposits of sand and minerals.

Several dark green serpent-shaped creatures were swaying nearby, each over two meters long but stockier than the average snake, with skeletons supporting a pair of fleshy wings on both sides.

Transformed by magic power, the texture of the wings was more like a gliding membrane rather than muscle from a snake's body. When they moved, they could flap their wings to fly.

Although their flying speed was not fast, their height advantage allowed them to easily prey on ground creatures like the Sandstone Spiral Turtle at will. They only needed to spray poison to kill, then land and coil, with few creatures of the same tier able to withstand the attacks of this demon.
