"Vulcan," The Capra Demon called out. "A party is not the venue for the council's meeting. Can't you tell us what you intend to announce tomorrow now? Even if you want nobles present, we could summon them and—"
"No." Vulcan cut him off instantly.
"The welcome party is the perfect way to gather all the lords in one place without alarming the public."
He folded two of his arms while gesturing with the other two as he continued speaking. "Besides… I want to meet the Dragon Queen's children. And the party will be the best opportunity to do so."
'I knew it.'
'This fool definitely has an ulterior motive.'
'Does he want to hurt the Dragon Queen's children?'
'Or humiliate them?'
'Only an idiot would try something stupid during the Dragon Queen's very own banquet.'
'Well… if he does try, it'll be fun to watch Vivian destroy him.'
'Ehehehe~ I guess I'll attend the party after all.'
'I can't afford to miss the chaos that will erupt during the party.'
All of these were the thoughts of the male demon lords in the room.
Some had already decided to attend the banquet out of curiosity while others genuinely did not care about the homecoming party because they had bigger concerns and couldn't care less about a measly banquet.
Naturally, Isabella was excited and she couldn't wait to see what Vivian's children would look like, so she was definitely going to attend the banquet.
Meanwhile, Vivian offered Vulcan a slow, unreadable smile.
She studied him quietly. His tone, his posture, his breathing, and even his aura but since she couldn't sense any malicious intent from the pyro demon lord, Vivian decided not to think too much about Vulcan's eagerness to attend her children's homecoming banquet.
Moreover, she knew Vulcan wasn't stupid enough to do anything that would get on her bad side, so Vivian became even more relaxed as she nodded.
"Very well. If you wish to attend the banquet, then I look forward to hearing what you have to say."
Vulcan nodded proudly before addressing the room.
"Thank you, everyone, for attending today's meeting, and with that, the council meeting is adjourned."
And just like that, Vivian and everyone else left the venue of the meeting.
It took her a few hours, but Vivian finally arrived home.
Upon arriving at her castle, Vivian hastened her steps and rushed straight to her bedroom with the hope of raining kisses on both of her children's cheeks, but to her surprise, both Aster and Lily had fallen asleep already.
'Aw, Mama didn't make it in time to smother her cute little dragons with kisses.'
'Oh well. Then Mama will just postpone everything until tomorrow morning.'
'Yep. Those cheeks are definitely going to get smothered by me.'
Vivian giggled internally before taking a quick bath and joining her children on the bed.
Moments later, all three of them were sleeping together peacefully.
Aster slept quietly with his cheek resting on Vivian's soft chest while Lily curled up on Vivian's stomach like a tiny kitten.
Meanwhile, Vivian wrapped her arms around both of them, to hold them securely while she slept.
The room looked so peaceful as the Dragon Queen slept and breathed softly with her two children by her side.
But while all three dragons were sleeping in their floating citadel, none of them knew of the activities that were happening in the capital city.
Demons could be seen rushing through the streets with a look of excitement on their faces.
Various workshops were still open late into the night, and even lower-class nobles could be seen barking orders to their maids while merchants searched their stores for the finest fabrics they could find.
Little young demons also peeked through windows to try and see what their parents were preparing as a gift for the Queen's children.
In a nutshell, every single demon in the city seemed to be preoccupied and completely invested in getting a good present for the Dragon Queen's children.
Never before had something like this happened and that was why everyone was trying their best to make the banquet the best homecoming that had ever been celebrated in the entire demon continent.
But while everyone was preoccupied with their tasks, two beautiful demons from simple backgrounds could be seen standing in the street with a small box in their hands.
"Should we use a simple white lotus flower to decorate the present or should we find a red dragonfly lotus flower instead?" The first female demon asked, her voice filled with worry and indecision.
"Hmm, how about we use both?"
"Yeah, you're right. Let's do that." Both demons happily made up their minds before dashing out to find the red dragonfly lotus flower.
Elsewhere, two demon brothers were arguing over what present they should give the Queen's children.
"I told you the present must be shaped like a dragon."
"No!! The Queen is a lady and all ladies like cockatrices. Cockatrices are cute and delicious as well, so I'm sure she'll definitely like it. Besides, I've never heard of a demon that doesn't like a cockatrice."
The two brothers continued to argue before finally coming to a compromise to design the present to look like a cockatrice-dragon hybrid.
Meanwhile, at the center of the capital city, dozens of demons gathered around a huge table piled with gifts.
The gifts included a variety of items like artifacts, fruit baskets, and a tiny armor for children.
A stout-looking satyr wiped the beads of sweat on his forehead before staring at the presents once again.
"Phew, I guess this should be enough for now, but do babies even need this many gifts?" He asked with a worried look on his face, at that moment, a female satyr smacked him lightly on his back.
"Yeah, they do. Besides, the Queen's children aren't just babies! They're the heirs of the Dragon Queen herself. So enough is never enough!" The female satyr announced, pumping a clenched fist in the air as though she was making an inspirational speech to a congregation.
However, the male satyr simply rolled his eyes with a smile on his face.
His wife respected the queen a little too much, but since he respected his queen as well, he decided to make his wife happy by looking for more presents.
Meanwhile, in the noble district of the capital city, things were a little more chaotic than in any other place in the city.
Nobles could be seen scurrying around the city in search of truly valuable gifts to offer the Dragon Queen's children.
Many nobles had decided on a present earlier in the day, but now that they had a few hours left before the banquet, many of them believed that their presents wouldn't be liked by the queen, much less her babies.
And so, they were trying to find a better present, hoping it would be enough to make their Queen very happy.
And right now, a particular noble, a female centaur, gasped dramatically upon witnessing what her maids and butlers brought to her.
"No! No, NO! We can't arrive with something THIS SMALL!"
"I want something BIG!"
"I want MORE!"
"BIGGER is BETTER and BIGGEST is BEST!"
"If you follow my lead, we will OUTSHINE ALL THE REST!!!"
"NOW GO! And bring me the greatest present EVER!!"
The centaur cackled maniacally, and all her servants bowed before dashing out hurriedly in search of the biggest present they could find.
