Vulcan inhaled deeply before getting down to business. "I summoned you all here because I wanted you to know that we, as demons, have become soft."
"Excuse me?" Isabella immediately took offence as she glared at him, and the rest of the demons furrowed their brows as well, confused as to why Vulcan had uttered such words.
But the Pyro Demon Lord slammed one of his four fists on the table, repeating himself. "I said we've grown soft! Weak! And Lazy! After the war ended, everyone stopped training their young warriors. Instead, we left those responsibilities to Evermore Academy while we just sat back and watched, doing absolutely nothing."
"But that's the main purpose of the academy. To train young demons and every other race who enroll in the institution." The Capra Demon muttered defensively.
"Yes, but the academy was never built to stop us from training our children ourselves." Vulcan snapped. "If all the previous demon lords were to see us now, they would be ashamed of what our race has become and I'm pretty sure you all would agree that if trouble were to rise tomorrow, our continent will be the least prepared."
The room fell silent because they knew Vulcan was right and they understood the frustration behind his words.
Moreover, each of them had noticed some concerning things in the children who were enrolled in the academy.
Whenever the academy invited them to watch the students compete against each other, the demon lords would come to show some support to their own kind, but whenever they watched the young demons participate in the contest, a look of disgust and disappointment was always on their faces.
And many of them usually became more pissed off because other world leaders used the opportunity to brag about how amazing and great their races were in comparison to the demons.
And whenever the demon lords looked at these students, they couldn't even see them as demons because they had no courage or determination, and neither did they show any true eagerness to surpass their colleagues and fellow contestants.
In a nutshell, the current generation of demons in the academy was completely different from what the earlier generation used to be.
But then again, the demon lords couldn't really blame the young demons for who they were.
However, they hoped that something could be done to change the mentality of the students attending the academy, to build a better set of demons than the ones currently attending the academy.
After all, the demon lords knew that what the Capra Demon had said earlier regarding Gaia was true as well.
They knew that Gaia wouldn't start a war just because a few minor conflicts between tribes were occurring frequently, but most demon lords in the room couldn't shake off their worry regarding the reports about the sudden increase of spirit beasts in their territory.
So, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to at least prepare the young ones for the unforeseeable future.
But how were they going to train the current set of young demons to make them strong and ferocious during battle without alerting the other kingdoms and the continent?
They needed to make sure that it looked like they were only training their children to protect themselves and not preparing them for a war that may or may not even occur in the future.
Of course, everyone in the room knew that the sudden increase in the number of spirit beasts might not necessarily mean that Gaia was showing signs of inciting another war, but everyone was also in agreement that it would be better to prepare the future generation of demons by making them stronger, rather than remaining complacent about the things happening around them.
This was the thought going through everyone's minds and Vivian was the first to voice out what everyone was thinking. "So, Vulcan... What exactly do you propose we do...?"
Vulcan smiled confidently before clapping two of his hands.
The door of the meeting room suddenly creaked open and a maid entered the room with a tray of elegant envelopes in her hands.
Vivian's eyes instantly narrowed slightly because she recognized those letters more than anyone else in the room.
They were the invitation letter for Aster and Lily's Homecoming Banquet, so why did Vulcan ask the maid to bring them here?
Vivian wondered as she watched the young succubus maid gently place the tray on the obsidian table before bowing politely and leaving the room.
Then Vulcan picked up one letter and twirled it in his fingers.
"I want you all to take a look at this." He said before tossing the invitations to everyone seated, except Vivian.
After all, she was the one who had sent out the invitations in the first place, so there was no need to give her one.
Besides, there were only six letters on the tray and they were meant for the other six demon lords, so there was no way she could get one.
Meanwhile, everyone picked up their letter, their eyes widening in surprise after opening it, and then in confusion after reading the content of the letter.
"Isn't this…?" Isabella asked and Vulcan nodded.
"Yes, it's an invitation to Lady Vivian's children's homecoming party, tomorrow."
A few hours ago, Hallie had sent out the invitations to the demon lords as requested by her Queen, but since all of them were already at the venue of the meeting, the letter had been sent here instead. Thus, Vulcan had instructed his maid to hold on to the letters until he permitted her to bring them in.
Seeing that the letter was about a homecoming party, the Capra Demon lifted his head to ask. "Vulcan. Why are you giving us this letter and what does it have to do with this meeting?"
"As you can see, I'm proposing that we all attend this party. Because at the banquet, I'll reveal my plans on how we can improve our young ones' strength without arousing the suspicion of the other races. This is a plan I want every Lord and noble to hear together. So, what do you all think?"
The male demon lords exchanged shocked glances.
Did they just hear him correctly?
Vulcan intended to attend the Dragon Queen's party?!
And he wanted everyone else to attend as well?
Had he lost his mind?
This was a celebration party for the Dragon Queen's children, and he wanted to be there?!
'Wasn't he the one who had been the most obsessed with the Dragon Queen? Shouldn't he be sulking now that she had two children instead of feeling eager to attend their homecoming banquet?'
'Yep, there is no doubt about it.'
'Something is definitely wrong with Lord Vulcan.' All the male demon lords shared the same thought as they stared at him, then at the letters in their hands.
