Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone

Chapter 127: Broken Battle Banner Another Rare Treasure!

Fang Zhou's eyes narrowed as he looked at the Scroll clutched tightly in the Kobold Warlock leader's hand.

It seems that Scroll is what greatly enhanced the effect of the Flaming Skeleton. What a treasure! That item is destined for me!

Fang Zhou suppressed the impulse to act, continuing to hide in the grass and play the lurker.

If I make my move now, the Kobold Warlock leader might use another Flaming Skeleton, which could severely damage my Skeleton Army. It's better to let these Fierce Ants test the Kobolds' trump cards a bit more.

Before the camp, the Fierce Ants had suffered heavy losses from the Flaming Skeleton's Explosion, but their desire to feed didn't waver in the slightest. The soldier ants surged forward like a tide, one wave after another falling only to be replaced by the next.

The camp gate was completely destroyed, and the Kobolds' resistance grew increasingly chaotic.

Fortunately, the Kobold Warlock leader, along with a few elite Kobold Warlocks, continuously provided fire support from the rear, barely managing to stabilize the line.

Just then, a commotion erupted within the Fierce Ant swarm, as if something was about to emerge.

HISS, HISS, HISS!

An Iron Jaws Soldier Ant with a crimson-purple carapace, twice the size of its brethren, appeared before the Kobolds' eyes. The aura it emanated was many times stronger than that of the other Iron Jaws Soldier Ants.

"Tsk, now that's a big one!"

Fang Zhou raised his binoculars, closely observing this Apprentice Upper Rank Fierce Ant leader.

If the previous Iron Jaws Soldier Ants were the size of large dogs, then the Fierce Ant leader before him was the size of a bull.

Its entire body was pitch-black. This was not a glossy, shining black, but a dull, deep black that exuded a cold, metallic aura. Its two serrated mandibles were exceptionally long and prominent, like a pair of long knives brimming with lethal intent.

The Fierce Ants' Ant Queen was only responsible for propagating the colony; she was not skilled in combat. Presumably, this Fierce Ant leader was the strongest entity in the entire mine's nest.

As expected, the Fierce Ant leader's combat prowess was terrifyingly superior to the Kobolds'. Its carapace was as hard as a tortoise's shell and incredibly difficult to break. With its arrival, the Kobold formation, which had just been stabilized, collapsed once more.

Even when all the elite Kobolds most skilled in melee combat joined forces, they couldn't hold off the Fierce Ant leader for long, especially with hundreds of other Fierce Ants surging toward them like a tide.

With a loud bang, a Fireball landed on the Fierce Ant leader and exploded. The powerful force only managed to blast a crater in its body, from which viscous liquid gushed out.

The Kobold Warlock leader's Fireball Skill attack didn't kill the Fierce Ant leader. Instead, it became enraged and charged furiously toward the camp. Under its ferocious assault, the already shaky Kobold defensive line was finally breached by the swarm. A large number of Kobolds were engulfed by the tide of ants.

Their flesh and blood only served to further stimulate the Fierce Ants' ferocity.

However, the Fierce Ant swarm also paid a price after entering the camp. The seemingly flat ground actually concealed hidden mechanisms.

Watching from a distance as a large number of Fierce Ants shrieked and fell into traps, Fang Zhou rubbed his nose and was struck by a sudden sense of déjà vu.

Ahem, who would have thought these Kobolds shared my love for digging pits. Elegant. So very elegant!

Meanwhile, the military academy cadets watching Fang Zhou's live combat feed couldn't help but chime in with their own remarks.

"Why do I feel like Fang Zhou and these Kobolds have so much in common?"

"Isn't it obvious? They're both dogs—ahem, I mean, Tactical Masters!"

"Seeing these Fierce Ants, I'm suddenly reminded of how the Horned Demon died so miserably on the Simulation Battlefield. It looks like from now on, we have to constantly be on guard against these tricky types on the battlefield!"

...

The delay caused by the traps finally gave the Kobold Warlock leader an opportunity to reorganize the defenses within the camp. Following a series of rapid barks, the Kobolds, who had been scattering like headless chickens, barely managed to regroup and use the terrain to their advantage to continue their resistance.

Then, the Kobold Warlock leader once again began to cast its signature Flame Series Skills.

Although the Acidic Poison Soldier Ants continuously sprayed venom at the Warlock leader after entering the camp, a transparent Shield on its body blocked all of it. In the end, it still successfully cast another Flaming Skeleton.

With a huge explosion, another dozen or so Fierce Ants were blasted into pieces on the spot. Even more were caught in the blast, their bodies igniting until they resembled walking torches. Even the incredibly fierce Fierce Ant leader, which had already killed several elite Kobolds, had one of its hind limbs blown off, causing it to shriek in agony.

However, the Kobold Warlock leader did not use the Scroll this time, and the damage from the Flaming Skeleton was noticeably lower. Furthermore, since the Fierce Ants had already invaded the camp's interior, the Warlock couldn't fully control the Flaming Skeleton's landing point.

A large portion of the camp was set ablaze. The flames shot high into the air, accidentally injuring a considerable number of the furry Kobolds in the process.

Despite the bombardment from the Flaming Skeleton, the Fierce Ants' fighting spirit and morale were far stronger than that of ordinary Demons. Seeing the shattered flesh and blood of their comrades littering the ground, they showed no fear. Instead, their eyes turned blood-red as they launched an even more ferocious assault.

By this point in the chaotic melee, the Kobolds had suffered over fifty percent casualties, with only a few dozen still able to fight. The Fierce Ants had also suffered heavy losses, with only a hundred or so remaining.

Although the camp was filled with numerous traps, the Fierce Ant swarm gradually regained the upper hand. This was because the Kobold Warlock leader had exhausted all of its tricks and depleted its Spiritual Power, yet still failed to kill the Fierce Ant leader.

To make matters worse for the Kobolds, the buff from their pre-battle Bloodthirsty Skill had expired. Without the skill's augmentation, their cowardly nature immediately took over.

Despite the Warlock leader's frantic barking, the morale of some Kobolds on the periphery shattered. They abandoned the Fierce Ants before them and tried to flee the battlefield blindly.

However, surrounded by the far more numerous Fierce Ants, not a single one of these deserters escaped alive. But their desperate attempt to flee successfully tore several holes in the Kobolds' barely maintained defensive line.

A massive horde of Iron Jaws Soldier Ants poured through the gaps, their target clear: the Kobold Warlock leader.

Fang Zhou's eyes narrowed as he continued to watch the battlefield. He could tell the fight was nearing its end.

And now, it's time for me, the fisherman, to make my appearance!

AWOOO! WOOF!

Just as the Kobold camp was on the verge of collapse, the Kobold Warlock leader let out an ear-splitting roar and raised a tattered Battle Banner high into the air.

Within the Perception space formed by Fang Zhou's Soul Realm, a crimson wave of soul energy instantly radiated across the entire battlefield as the tattered Battle Banner fluttered.

Any Kobold touched by this soul wave, whether they were Apprentice Lower Rank or Apprentice Middle Rank, was instantly filled with boundless fury and fighting spirit.
