Undead Mage: I Have a Skeleton Clone

Chapter 275: Skeleton Legion Heroic Spirit Commander_2

In contrast, two even more powerful dark forces existed at the edge of the forest, beyond the range of any archer. One emitted chaotic energy fluctuations, indicating its strength was on par with a Fiery Demon or a Horned Demon. For Fang Zhou and his team, it was not an unbeatable opponent. The other presence, however, was far more complex and dangerous.

The cold aura of the Black Armored Abyss Knight formed a thin shield around him. This shield not only protected him from external harm but also blocked most reconnaissance abilities. This Abyss Knight was no longer a pure Demon; he was more like a human who had undergone Demonization. Demonized People, also known as Demon Worshipers, were those who had willingly abandoned their humanity to be twisted by the power of Demons. These beings had lost all human emotion, became immensely strong, and felt no pain. If any of them were originally Professionals, they became Demonized Professionals after their transformation, possessing astonishing combat power.

On Blue Star, especially in the regions surrounding the Longxia Federation, the largest territory occupied by the forces of the Abyssal Demons was the Calamity Sun Demon Country battlefield. The primary enemies on this battlefield were Demonized People led by Demon Worshipers. These former humans had become the Abyssal Demons' most loyal minions, posing a grave threat to the entire region's peace.

Beside Fang Zhou, Punishment Ranger Li Guang suddenly let out a cold snort. His sharp gaze fixed on the edge of the forest, his voice heavy as he said, "Senior Sergeant Fang Zhou, the enemy has brought reinforcements."

Fang Zhou steadied himself, gripping the wooden railing of the watchtower as his gaze pierced through the overlapping canopy toward the gloomy forest ahead. Just as he'd said, the number of wandering black monsters at the forest's edge had nearly doubled, now approaching one hundred. The Sheep-headed Monsters on their backs seemed to have regained their courage. They let out wild howls like hyenas while brandishing their long spears and javelins, shaking them arrogantly in the air.

Then, the leader of the Sheep-headed Monsters—the Black Armored Abyss Knight—urged his steed forward, slowly emerging from the cover of the trees and advancing directly toward the Shelter.

High above the Abyss Knight, the Terror Wing Demon spread its enormous, dark wings, soaring through the sky like a giant bat. It began chanting an obscure and sinister spell, its voice reverberating through the air and sending a chill down everyone's spine.

"All archers, prepare to fire!" Li Guang shouted in a grim voice. He then drew his Silver Fir Wood Longbow, aiming a sharp arrow at the Terror Wing Demon in the sky. The muscles on his shoulders tensed. He was just waiting for the Terror Wing Demon to come within two hundred meters, where he would unleash his skill as the Shelter's number one Divine Archer.

As if sensing the threat from below, the Terror Wing Demon pulled back slightly. Its indistinct chanting grew more urgent, as if it were preparing a deadly attack.

Fang Zhou's eyes sharpened, the power of his Soul Realm flashing within them. His Perception grew so keen it felt as if he could pierce through any facade and see the enemy's true intentions. Just then, the Terror Wing Demon's chanting became even more hurried and rapid. Its body began to tremble violently as if it were gathering some immense power. A moment later, a blinding black light shot from the Terror Wing Demon's claws, creating a vast, dark, lightless zone on the ground in front of the Shelter. A suffocating pressure filled the air, and everyone felt an unprecedented sense of danger.

"All forces, charge!" The hoarse and icy command of the Black Armored Abyss Knight echoed through the night sky. At his command, the knight's black-cloaked form jolted as if propelled by an invisible force. He and his warhorse, which was also covered in pitch-black scales, surged toward the Shelter like a dark storm cloud.

The sharp, eerie laughter of the Sheep-headed Monsters followed, rising and falling like an ominous song from Hell in response to their leader's order. They spurred on their grotesque mounts, which exuded a chilling aura, as they swarmed out from the darkness of the dense forest to launch a ferocious assault on the Shelter.

The magical effect of the Dark Concealment spell was now at its peak, creating a massive shadowy zone directly in front of the Shelter. The edge of this darkness was less than thirty meters from the camp's gate, while its far side extended to a point one hundred and thirty meters away. Even for the Skeleton Archers positioned on the watchtower's vantage point, the maximum range of their longbows was only about one hundred and fifty meters. This meant the defenders had only one brief opportunity for a volley to halt the surging dark tide before the Sheep-headed Monsters entered the area of Dark Concealment.

During this tense moment, Li Guang's hands remained as steady as iron. His eagle-sharp gaze, which had been locked on the circling Terror Wing Demon, now snapped toward the charging Black Armored Abyss Knight. The knight's black cloak billowed in the wind, its constantly shifting form like the deepest shadow of the night, making it extremely difficult for Li Guang to aim. But the battle-hardened veteran archer was not deterred. He kept his eyes fixed on the rapidly moving shadow, maintaining his calm and focus even though his opponent moved as fast as a black hurricane.

Just as the Black Armored Abyss Knight was about to enter the zone of Dark Concealment, Li Guang's drawing hand tightened, and the arrow flew from the string. With a sharp whistle, the deadly arrow sliced through the night sky like a silver bolt of lightning, shooting straight for the dark figure. Li Guang didn't even glance at the result of his shot. He had already pulled a second arrow from his quiver and drawn his longbow again.

By the time the Black Armored Abyss Knight and his steed charged into the zone of Dark Concealment, Li Guang only caught a fleeting glimpse of a billowing cloak. However, his deadly arrow had not missed entirely. Along the path the Abyss Knight had charged, an arrow was embedded deep in the ground, surrounded by fragments of shattered black metal. If pieced back together, the fragments would form a heavy shield engraved with an Abyssal Demon sigil. Clearly, this shield had intercepted Li Guang's lethal shot, saving the Black Armored Abyss Knight from taking a direct hit.

Over a hundred Sheep-headed Monster Cavalry, riding their terrifying mounts, let out blood-curdling howls as they charged madly into the range of the Skeleton Archers. In that instant, the Skeleton Archers drew their bowstrings taut in perfect unison. The twang of the bowstrings was so synchronized it sounded as if it came from a single archer. Immediately after, dozens of sharp arrows sliced through the air like harbingers of the Death God, kicking up clouds of dust and a series of harrowing wails. Each arrow, seemingly carrying a deadly Curse, tore through the rough hides of the Sheep-headed Monsters, causing blood to gush like fountains.

A dozen Sheep-headed Monsters were struck down, toppling from their mounts and causing minor chaos in the charging ranks. For an enemy force of over a hundred, however, such losses were not a severe blow. By the time the last Sheep-headed Monster plunged into the area of Dark Concealment, fewer than twenty of their kind lay dead along the path.
