Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 67: First Place [15] - Fall

When Liora regained her consciousness, a somewhat familiar sensation washed over her.

Glancing around, she discovered that she was no longer in the hall or even the Gothic castle. Instead, she was silently floating in the air.

Inspecting her surroundings and feeling the illusory atmosphere of the world around her, Liora instantly realized what was going on.

"Did the mysterious blood bring me to this place again? Will I witness the battle between the two True Devils once more?", she wondered while trying her best to analyze the situation at hand.

Yet, when she took a deeper look at the world around her, she found that there were no other creatures here.

Neither the Vampire nor the Three-Headed Serpent could be seen. Not even the land that the two had brought destruction upon could be found.

Only ethereal white clouds surrounded Liora, constantly swaying around her as if wanting to give her a hug.

Time slowly passed.

Floating amidst the clouds, Liora could neither move nor speak. It seemed as if she was trapped, destined to stay in this place forever.

Fortunately, just when she was starting to grow impatient, something finally changed.

On the horizon, the clouds in the sky suddenly tumbled violently, and as if an invisible hand was pushing them aside, a small gap appeared.

The space behind that opening was completely white, while a familiar aura emanated from within, causing Liora's mind, body, and soul to tremble.

It was as if the fear of that aura was engraved in her bones, engraved deep into her own bloodline.

With difficulty, Liora raised her head and forced herself to stare into that gap.

But what she saw left her shocked.

In a vast white expanse, a colossal figure stood alone.

The figure had sixteen wings growing behind its back, while a golden crown floated above its head, shining on its face.

On the center of the figure's forehead, a third eye with three pupils grew out, and faced the seemingly empty sky.

Although Liora could only see the creature's back, information about their true appearance seemed to inexplicably appear in her mind.

Her first thought was that this being was an Angel, but upon further consideration, she denied that notion.

Just when her thoughts turned and she tried to find more information about that creature and its true race, a thunderous roar jolted her awake.

"Why? Why have the Heavens forsaken us? Why shall Order be destroyed?", the angel-like creature howled at the sky.

Tears of blood began flowing out of its third eye and dripped onto their face.

As the blood fell, it twisted mysteriously as if it were revealing its countless mysteries for Liora to see.

Liora stared intently at this blood and did her best to memorize its appearance, knowing that these mysteries might prove helpful in the future.

Then, holding her breath, she shifted her gaze back to the angel-like creature.

She was originally expecting that the person this being was addressing would come out and the two would have a fierce battle, just like the Vampire and the Three-Headed Serpent she had previously seen.

However, contrary to her expectations, the space around her began to shatter, as if the images could not support the following scene.

In the final moments, Liora sensed a familiar ancient and chaotic Will arrive and descend upon the creature.

"If no true Order can be established within the Heavens, what's stopping me from falling to the Demon World?", a resentful yet relieved voice echoed in Liora's ears, as she watched the angel-like creature open their arms wide and happily receive the Demon World's blessing.

--

As she returned to reality, it took a long time for Liora to recover from the impact of those images.

The voice of the unwilling angel-like creature echoed continuously in her ears, as if their entire life was constantly replaying in her mind.

It took a few minutes, or perhaps even hours, for her to finally wake up.

Lowering her head and glancing at the drop of blood floating motionlessly within the wooden chest, her expression darkened.

"I didn't expect that this thing still retains its own instincts. I was too careless before.", she whispered as she carefully placed the chest's lid back and leaned back into the throne.

Although Liora had known that this blood was the result of the battle between two extremely powerful beings, she had gradually let down her guard toward it.

Perhaps it was because her journey had been smooth sailing so far, and she had faced almost no setbacks or difficulties.

Or, perhaps, her research on the mysterious blood had unknowingly affected her.

"It seems that I underestimated the power that such beings possess.", Liora frowned.

Although she had done her best to overestimate their power, she felt that she may have still underestimated them.

Just a drop of blood possessed powers beyond her imagination, so how powerful would those two beings be?

"Moreover, I'm beginning to doubt whether the Vampire and the Three-Headed Serpent are only True Devils."

Thinking of how the mysterious blood had devoured the Blasphemer's remains before pulling her into the memory fragments, Liora was able to guess the identity of the angel-like creature.

"If I'm not wrong, that creature should be the first Ancestor of the Blasphemer's bloodline. According to the final scene, I should have witnessed the moment they 'fell' into the embrace of the Demon World."

Liora was not surprised by that being's choice.

Throughout the long history of the Demon World, countless creatures had chosen to abandon their native worlds and fall into darkness.

Some of these creatures did this because they yearned for power, others to achieve certain goals or dreams, while many were simply forced by their enemies.

Although Liora did not know in which category that creature belonged, the final words they uttered led her to believe that it was the last one.

But at the same time, the reason behind their fall was none of her business.

A much more important thing occupied her mind.

"For a creature to be accepted by the Demon World, they must either possess extraordinary strength or unique qualities. Judging by the power shown by the angel-like creature, it was at least equivalent to a True Devil before their fall."

Taking that into account, Liora felt that she had to rethink her previous hypotheses regarding the mysterious blood.

"Since a mere drop of blood can dig through a Devil's bloodline and find the memory fragments hidden within it, it's almost impossible for its owners to be ordinary True Devils."

This led to a question: just how strong were the Vampire and the Three-Headed Serpent?

Had their strength reached the limit of the True Devil stage, or were they perhaps even stronger?
