Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress

Chapter 68: First Place [16] - Alpha's Upgrade is Completed

But soon, Liora pushed those thoughts aside.

With her current strength, status, and knowledge, it was almost impossible for her to accurately estimate the two powerful beings' power.

Even attempting to do so would most likely lead to the wrong conclusion rather than the correct one.

With that in mind, she decided to stop thinking about it and turned her focus back to the images of the angel-like creature.

Or, more accurately, to the mysteries contained in the blood it shed.

As Liora closed her eyes, countless runes seemed to be outlined in her otherwise dark vision.

These were the runes she had memorized on the surface of the angel-like creature's blood, and, just like the blood in the wooden chest, they contained large amounts of valuable information.

"However, unlike the blood of the Vampire and the Three-Headed Serpent, the information contained within the angel-like creature's blood is completely different."

If the knowledge she obtained from her earlier research was chaotic and seemingly random, then the mysteries she studied at the moment were not only more systematic but also far easier to understand.

Opening her eyes, Liora's thoughts moved, and immediately, the demonic energy within her body boiled.

A tinge of golden color flashed across its surface while its structure began to change, as if adjusting to the environment.

It was inevitable that Liora felt a little strange as she noticed the changes in her body, but very soon, she recovered.

With another move of her mind, a dark light flashed in her hand and solidified into a majestic golden spear that was surrounded by demonic flames.

For the first time in quite a long time, Liora had activated her biggest and most hidden trump card—the Spear of the Blighted Sun.

The reason she hadn't used it before was not only because of the lack of an appropriate opportunity, but also because its Holy Damage would also hurt her.

The previous experience in the battle of the City of Embers was still very fresh in her mind, making her unwilling to use this ability unless necessary.

Yet, as Liora grasped the Spear of the Blighted Sun this time, she discovered that it didn't hurt in the slightest.

Although a strange tingling sensation ran through her fingers, it was only slightly uncomfortable rather than actually being painful.

This was not because the Spear of the Blighted Sun had weakened, but because of the knowledge she had just obtained from the holy blood.

"I was originally worried that now that the Blasphemer's body is gone, I would not be able to evolve my Myriad Devils Armor. I thought that I was going to miss out on gaining a slight immunity to Holy Power."

"Fortunately, the images came in clutch.", Liora couldn't help but sigh, and the last trace of annoyance in her heart vanished.

After she deactivated the Spear of the Blighted Sun and let it dissolve into black light, she turned her attention back to the wooden chest.

Or rather, to the mysterious blood lying inside.

The images of the angel-like creature resurfaced in her mind, and coupled with the knowledge she had just obtained from its blood, a strange idea formed in her mind.

"If this droplet can absorb the blood of other Devils and dig into their bloodline to find memory fragments, can it do the same for my own bloodline?"

Until now, Liora had yet to understand what her bloodline was. To this day, her Race still showed [Unknown] on the System Panel.

The strange ability showcased by this blood made her quite tempted, making her wonder if she should use it to find out its secrets.

But in the blink of an eye, she suppressed that dangerous thought.

"It would have been fine if I didn't know that the mysterious blood still retained its instincts. But now that I do, researching it any further is akin to seeking death. Much less actually giving it my blood to devour.", she thought.

Moreover, Liora had keenly noticed that the moment that idea popped into her mind, her Void Instinct activated on its own, warning her of danger.

It told her that if she were to do such a thing, something terrible would happen, something that would have unimaginable consequences.

In the end, Liora's cautiousness won over her curiosity.

While vigilant, she placed the wooden chest away, vowing not to touch it until she became stronger. At the very least, she should possess enough strength to defend against its sudden outburst.

A few minutes later, when Liora had just finished weaving countless arrays around the chest and was about to return to her seat, a strange light flashed in her crimson eyes.

Turning her head, she shifted her gaze to the stone bed occupying a large part of the hall.

It was only now that Liora realized that the sound of gears turning was gradually becoming quieter, while Alpha's aura was beginning to stabilize.

Following a thunderous clang, everything seemed to have fallen into place.

The sound of gears disappeared, while Alpha's eyelids twitched.

A moment later, they parted, revealing a pair of amber pupils hidden beneath them.

A trace of haziness flashed in Alpha's eyes, but it quickly vanished.

The memories of what had happened before she fell unconscious resurfaced in Alpha's mind, and, with her superb intelligence, she instantly realized what was going on.

"Lord!", Alpha immediately rose to her feet and saluted.

Although these movements should have been familiar to her, they now carried a trace of awkwardness.

With every step she took, a large, deep pit would appear on the floor as if she had suddenly gained several tons of weight.

Obviously, her transformation had made Alpha unable to control her own body.

Ignoring this somewhat funny scene, Liora looked at Alpha and closely observed her. Externally, not much had changed, but Liora was not fooled by this sight.

"Is your transformation complete?", she asked, although she already knew the answer.

Alpha immediately nodded in affirmation.

"Indeed, my transformation has been completed. I can feel that everything about me has changed.", she stated and lightly waved her hand forward, causing the air to tremble along its path.

Still, Alpha remained expressionless, as if she had not done this to show off, but merely to display her new capabilities to Liora.

After she performed a few more moves, fully showcasing the results of her body's transformation, Alpha continued:

"Besides this, I was also lucky enough to awaken several new abilities..."
