Just when it seemed that Alpha would continue, her cold voice paused abruptly, and she stretched her right hand, placing it gently on top of her left shoulder.
Then, with a sudden movement, she tore her entire left arm off, beginning from the root.
Surprisingly, no blood flowed out from what should have been a serious wound, while no trace of pain appeared on Alpha's face.
"Lord, this is my first ability.", Alpha spoke up.
"I can now freely remove my mechanical parts without suffering any damage. And as easily as I can remove them, I can also put them back.", she added and slowly brought her torn arm close to her skin.
With a faint click, the arm immediately fell into place, seamlessly attaching to her shoulder.
Alpha then lightly waved her left hand around, as if she were showing that her previous words had been true.
"Within my body, a mechanical core has been formed. As long as that core is not taken out or broken, I will not die.", Alpha stated.
As if she felt that the previous display had not been enough, she reached out for her face, placing her palms on her respective cheeks.
Then, with no hesitation, she tore her head off.
Although completely detached from her neck, her face still remained lively.
Her eyes still shone with intelligence, while her lips continued moving.
"What a strange perspective...", she muttered in a low voice before turning her head with her hands, pointing toward Liora.
Staring into her crimson eyes, she spoke up:
"Lord, do you wish to give it a try?", she asked, bringing her head closer to Liora, as if wanting to hand it over to her.
Liora could not deny that she was indeed curious about this unusual ability.
After all, although her Low Level Regeneration and Myriad Devils Armor had granted her superb healing capabilities, there was still a limit.
Let alone her head, even if her heart was pierced, Liora would immediately die.
Yet, Alpha remained fine, even when her head had been severed.
But in the end, Liora—though tempted—didn't pick up Alpha's head.
Waving her hand, she gestured for Alpha to put her body together.
"Is this and the mechanical core your only abilities?", she asked.
Alpha didn't rush to answer, but instead reattached her head to her body before shaking it lightly.
"No, besides these two abilities, there's one more."
As she said this, Alpha's eyes wandered around the hall, as if she were searching for something.
At last, her eyes landed on the stone bed that Liora had created not long ago.
"May I?", she asked, and after getting Liora's approval, Alpha moved again.
Unclenching her right fist, a small gap formed at the center of her palm, revealing a vast space within it.
A thin, semi-translucent white thread extended out of that space and reached outside.
As if it were a living thing, the thread twisted in the air, and—having received Alpha's command—shot toward the stone bed.
When it reached its target, it didn't wrap around it, nor did it fall on top of it.
Instead, its other end drilled right into it.
A moment later, the thread vanished, disappearing as quickly as it had appeared.
Just when Liora was thinking that Alpha's ability had failed, the bed shook all of a sudden, and it began to move.
The four stone slabs supporting its frame bent in what should have been an impossible direction, and as if they were its feet, they pushed it forward.
The bed seemed to have obtained a will, as it began walking in circles around Liora and Alpha like a lost dog.
A rare hint of pride flashed across Alpha's face as she witnessed this scene.
Turning to Liora and noticing her curiosity, she hurriedly hid that pride and explained:
"I call this ability Life Infusion. Through the thread that appeared earlier, I can activate the spirituality within lifeless, ordinary objects."
As if she thought that this sounded a little too complicated, Alpha tried to simplify it:
"Essentially, I can transform inanimate things into my puppets. As long as I establish a connection to an item, I can manipulate it freely."
Facing Alpha's "overenthusiastic" response, Liora nodded her head with a smile as if she were truly happy for her.
After she let Alpha blow off some steam and regain her coolness, Liora asked the question in her mind.
"Are there no drawbacks or side effects in your abi—I mean Life Infusion?"
Her question seemed to have caught Alpha off guard, causing her to pause for a brief moment before giving a reply.
However, in that short amount of time, Liora's eyes had captured her faint embarrassment.
"The only drawback of this ability is that I can't manipulate those items indefinitely."
"When my energy is exhausted and Life Infusion deactivates, those objects will turn back to their original appearance, losing their spirituality.", Alpha's indifferent voice echoed in her ears.
Then, she quickly followed this up:
"But with my current strength, I can use Life Infusion during most fights without any issue.", Alpha explained, clearly wanting to defend herself.
Hearing her words, Liora nodded her head, having understood the basic details of the so-called Life Infusion ability.
Although something seemed off about Alpha—perhaps a side effect of her transformation—her words were still quite reliable.
Thus, Liora didn't doubt her.
"I originally believed that by consuming the ashes of the Unknown, Alpha would awaken the ability to create clone-puppets. But it seems that I was mistaken."
"Rather than granting her one of the Unknown's abilities, it's more like his ashes unlocked Alpha's hidden potential."
Still, Liora was satisfied with the results of Alpha's upgrade.
These three abilities, coupled with the aura she subconsciously exuded, made her understand that Alpha's combat power had soared.
Perhaps, she could match a ranked Devil in her current state.
However, that still needed to be confirmed.
Thinking of this, Liora glanced at Alpha and opened her mouth to speak.
"Go and call Scurry and the Owl Devil over. I have something to ask of them.", she ordered.
Although Alpha was slightly confused by the sudden change of subject, she didn't dare to disobey.
After a brief salute, she exited the hall, ready to call those two people over.
