Recalling the events that had just occurred, Liora found it nearly impossible to contain her fury.
She was not only angry at the two figures—whose battle had directly impacted her and caused her trajectory to change—but also at the Demon World itself.
In her opinion, the only reason why such an unlikely thing happened was exactly the Will of the Demon World.
"I don't believe that with its strength, it's unable to ensure my safety while bringing me to the Demon World! It must have done it on purpose!", Liora gritted her teeth, guessing that this might be another one of the Demon World's "Trials".
For most Devils, once they advanced to the Lesser Devil stage and left the Crucible, they would be transported to a relatively safe place, where they would be able to quietly accumulate strength.
Even if they were unlucky and happened to encounter danger, the danger they faced would be within the limits of what they could withstand.
As for Liora facing danger before she even entered the Demon World and then being thrown into this valley?
Such a thing should never have happened.
"Did the Demon World value my performance so far, and wished to give me a little 'push'?", Liora couldn't help but wonder.
Although this seemed absurd at first glance, she had a hunch that this was most likely the correct answer.
Perhaps the Demon World chose to bring her here, throwing her straight into danger, in order to force her to unleash her full potential through life-and-death experiences.
As for what would happen if she were to die?
With the Demon World's chaotic and ruthless nature, it would not care about such things.
In its understanding, only the Devils who could remain alive no matter the difficulties they faced were worthy of its nurturing, evidenced by the situation in the Crucible.
Thinking of this, Liora didn't know whether she should laugh or cry.
"Should I feel honored to have received its attention?", she joked before shaking her head and turning her focus to the situation at hand.
Rising to her feet, she inspected her landing location.
It was a large, pitch-black valley that was covered in dense scorch marks, with high trees and unusual plants growing every ten meters or so.
These plants were anything but ordinary, as they were made entirely out of flames, with an obvious lack of materials such as wood or leaves.
The temperature in the valley was very high, and even though Liora had advanced to become a Lesser Devil and her strength had massively improved, the heat was still fairly obvious to her.
This immediately rang alarms within her heart.
Moreover, Liora soon discovered that although the place she landed was empty, devoid of any signs of life, there were several auras—both strong and weak—nearby.
And, according to her observation, the owners of these auras were converging in her direction.
"Did my arrival catch the attention of this valley's native creatures?", Liora thought.
Despite her recent surge in strength, she decided not to stay here and battle against these people.
Although she didn't know how powerful the incoming creatures were, she had just arrived at the Demon World, and her cautiousness made her unwilling to gamble with her own life.
Thus, while clutching Alpha's head, Liora erased her remaining traces before merging with the shadows and slipping away.
Not long after her figure vanished, a giant creature surrounded by gray flames arrived at the deep pit she had formed.
Its predatory gaze wandered around this place as if it were searching for something important to it.
When it noticed that it couldn't find clues about the unknown invader, it raised its head and let out a thunderous, furious roar.
--
Hearing the roar coming from behind her, Liora felt fortunate to have trusted her instincts and left that place as soon as possible.
Even though the owner of the roar was only at the Lesser Devil stage and she should have been able to handle it, that being was only one of the many creatures gathering around her landing point.
"Damn it! Did the Demon World drop me straight into the nest of monsters?", Liora couldn't help but voice her complaints while she made her way through the valley.
Holding onto Alpha's head, she subconsciously thought of Scurry and the Owl Devil, who were both nowhere to be found.
"When the wormhole launched us at the Demon World, we were separated. I don't know whether they landed near this place or if they were thrown somewhere else."
"Fortunately, I was quick to act and brought Alpha with me."
Liora was not too worried about Scurry and the Owl Devil.
Not only because their status in her heart was not high enough, but also because she could still sense her invisible connection with them, letting her know that they were still alive.
Most importantly, the Devil Contract they had signed ensured that they would never be able to betray her.
Shaking her head, Liora turned her focus back to herself. Or rather, to her current predicament.
"My current situation is quite dangerous. Even though I escaped decisively and erased my traces, my arrival should have caught the attention of the powerful beings within the valley."
"Even if I'm able to hide for some time, sooner or later, I'll be discovered.", she analyzed.
Liora didn't know how long this valley stretched.
In her senses, it seemed to be endless, stretching for countless miles and rendering her unable to judge its true limits.
As such, she didn't know whether the route she chose was the correct one.
Continuing her travels might indeed lead her out of the valley and into safety, but it was as likely that it would bring her to a more dangerous location.
Many thoughts raced through Liora's mind, and in the end, she made a surprising decision.
Stopping right in her tracks, she expanded her perception, investigating her surroundings with a serious expression.
Not long after, she found what she had been looking for. A suitable target—a target that she could extract information from, both about this strange valley and about the Demon World as a whole.
