Mushroom Lord in the Underground City

Chapter 67: Raising the Price on the Spot

"Boss!"

Oh no!

In the room, Inanna hurriedly covered her small mouth.

She then tiptoed to the door, pressed her ear against it, and listened for a while to confirm there were no footsteps outside, before letting out a sigh of relief.

She was so excited to see the letter, she actually shouted out loud...

The letter's content was simple; it proposed using S Level Demon Crystal as payment.

In exchange for information about the Purple Crystal Dungeon from the Relic Association.

There was no signature, but at the bottom right corner, there was a small drawing of a Pink Puki!

There were only a few people who knew what a Puki looked like, and those who could afford S Level Demon Crystal certainly weren't the adventurers from the Silver Thorn Squad.

Looking at the boss, when they were in the Deep Area, he had a bunch of Demon Crystals; it's not surprising for him to provide an S Level one.

Plus, the return address in the letter was from Dumb Wind Town, next to the Purple Crystal Dungeon.

It had to be the boss's letter, anyway you look at it.

Does that mean the boss is up there too?

Or at least he's in the upper floors.

The Puki Calvin mentioned last time on the fifth floor was very likely the boss.

And this letter was requested by the boss to be written by someone else!

As for why the boss would need this information?

Wanting to learn more about the environment around oneself seems normal to Inanna.

She now really wants to go to the Purple Crystal Dungeon to find the boss.

But she's currently not allowed to leave.

She also wants to help the boss research information about the Purple Crystal Dungeon.

But she's currently not allowed to leave...

Eric only said that because of the matter of summoning the Hero, the situation is unstable and she's not allowed to go out.

Couldn't say when the restriction would lift.

What to do?

Inanna hugged her legs and rocked on the bed for a long time, without coming up with any good solution.

"Anyway, let's write a reply first..."

-----------------

Eric glanced at Inanna's face mixed with emotions of happiness, guilt, and anticipation.

Then looked down at the letter Inanna handed to him.

The recipient was: Dylan Slick.

A man's name...

"Understood, Miss. I'll send it out for you tomorrow."

"Then I'll leave it to you, Uncle Eric."

After Inanna left, Eric took another few glances at the sealed letter in his hand.

He definitely wouldn't do something like secretly opening Miss's letter to peek.

But... Dylan huh...

Looks like it's necessary to find someone to investigate what his identity is, for sending such a valuable gift.

Can't let those with ill intentions use Miss.

-----------------

The Duke's Mansion is not too far from Dumb Wind Town.

So just a few days later, Dylan received Miss Inanna's reply.

And read it himself directly.

In other organizations, subordinates secretly reading letters addressed to their boss is a path to death.

But with Dylan, it's different.

The boss can't read, he'll eventually have to read it either way when he takes it back.

Dylan put away the finished letter.

Looks like the boss's request was delayed quite a bit.

Once the boss's task is done, next is news about Bella.

Immediately, Dylan braved the drizzle, stepping through the mud, to the unreconstructed area of Dumb Wind Town.

These people who sell information like to hide in these dark corners.

Ten minutes later.

Inside a relatively intact, yet still classified as a dangerous building.

A damp, moldy smell seeped through the gaps in the tabletop as the information hawker sat on a tilted oak barrel with crossed legs.

After receiving the tail payment of 1 gold coin, he casually tossed out a piece of yellowed papyrus.

On it were a few scribbles, recording the "news" sold to Dylan.

"This is the information you're selling?"

Just 10 seconds later, Dylan slammed this so-called information onto the rotten wooden table.

"What do you mean by 'only know she's gone to the Archipelago'?

The reason for going, specific location, current situation, you have none of these!

Messing with me?"

The information hawker slowly picked his nails with a dagger, the blade glinted with dark red rust under the lamp.

"Honorable guest, or should I call you Dylan?

You must understand, even finding out she went to the Archipelago took great effort from us.

As for more detailed information,

we do have it, but..."

Seeing him smirk, Dylan instantly understood.

Turns out it's not that they couldn't find out, but they've even dug up his relationship with Bella, aiming to hike up the price and squeeze him.

After Dumb Wind Town's reconstruction, all sorts of riffraff have come in.

In the past, information hawkers here wouldn't be so disrespectful.

Dylan's anger boiled, but in the end, he held it in and asked:

"How much do you want?"

The information hawker shook his dirty sleeve, extending two fingers.

"Two gold?"

"Twenty gold!"

"Why don't you just rob me directly?"

The sharp sound of the wooden stool scraping against the floor pierced the air as Dylan abruptly stood up, gripping the longsword at his waist, glaring at the opponent.

The opponent only maintained the thumb pointing towards the door in a gesture of sending Dylan off, his greasy face wrinkling with a smirk.

Clearly confident that he had Dylan cornered.

Meanwhile, two figures clad in leather armor emerged from the room.

With their arms crossed, they leaned against the wall, watching Dylan with mocking expressions.

Looking at the three of them, Dylan ultimately couldn't draw his sword.

"Let me go get the money."

Throwing those words, Dylan turned and walked away.

Behind him came the smug chuckle of the information hawker.

Just as his heel was about to step out of the house, Dylan turned sharply, pointing the ring in his hand glowing blue at one of the henchmen.

[Ice Cone Skill]

Three ice cones instantly condensed and shot at the henchman.

Completely unprepared for Dylan to suddenly strike, the man hastily stepped to the side, dodging one of the ice cones.

The remaining two ice cones pierced into his abdomen and thigh, smashing him through the already fragile wooden wall.

"You bastard, you're looking for death!"

The other henchman lifted the wolf fang club wrapped in iron skin and charged forward.

From his movements, Dylan could tell, the opponent's strength was probably about the same as his own bottom tier Silver Level, in a direct fight Dylan, with his experience, would have a better chance of winning.

Moreover, Dylan wasn't planning on fighting him directly.

The green-blue cloak on his back billowed with the incoming wind.

[Phantom Clone]

After a blur, Dylan's figure turned into three.

From the back, the information hawker who was just drawing his bow incredulously said: "Two pieces of skill equipment?"

[Piercing Level 4]

An arrow shot out, piercing through the middle Dylan.

Poof—

That Dylan popped like a bubble, disappearing instantly.

[Vortex Slash Level 5]

The remaining two Dylans simultaneously attacked the henchman from both sides.

In a panic, the henchman randomly chose a side to block.

The sound of metal clashing was drowned out by the rain outside.

The henchman guessed correctly, but hesitated and missed the best moment to exert force. His power couldn't completely block Dylan's skill.

An arm was sliced through by the longsword, leaving only a layer of skin connecting it to the shoulder.

"Ahhhhhh——"

A pig-like scream emanated from his mouth.

Ignoring the henchman who could no longer wield a weapon.

Dylan, holding a blood-dripping sword, stepped closer to the information hawker who was so scared he started trembling violently.

The information hawker couldn't believe it; someone who he thought he had figured out, a silver-level adventurer in decline.

Actually possessed two pieces of skill equipment!

And attacked so decisively and ruthlessly!

Now, grabbed by the collar and lifted by Dylan, he could only muster a pleasing smile:

"It... it was my mistake, I was blinded by greed.

I'll tell you all the information, and you can take all the money I have.

Begging you, spare me..."
