Lin Xuan Qi was confident with his fishing skills.

He had, after all, travelled to all the fishing ponds in his country when he was back on earth.

And among his friends he was the one with the best catch every time.

"Master Lin, sorry I took so long." Old Shao's voice sounded behind him, and he quickly turned around.

"Thanks!" He took the fishing rods Old Shao had made and inspected them.

These fishing rods in his hands weren't what he was familiar with.

The rods were made of wood and weren't that flexible.

As for the fishing lines, they weren't nylon or other synthetic material.

They were made of hemp, rough but not as tough, compared to fish line made of nylon.

Old Shao had used needles for the fishhook, improvising them by bending them into the required shape.

Lin Xuan Qi was grateful for his ingenuity at such short notice.

"Why don't you join us?" He asked Old Shao.

Old Shao would be his father-in-law soon if things went well, and it wouldn't hurt to try and establish a better relationship with him first.

"I have some other chores to finish, Master Lin."

But Old Shao shook his head and rejected his invitation.

Lin Xuan Qi glanced over at Xue Cong who was busy, and the other servant girls around.

Yue Jie was helping Xue Cong and Yue Xin was by the side of the pond next to him.

Liu Shi Shi leaned on the pillar of the pavilion waiting for him.

Maybe this wasn't the best time.

He decided to wait for the matchmaker to settle it and nodded his head at Old Shao.

After Old Shao took his leave and went back to work, Lin Xuan Qi handed out the fishing rods to Yue Xin, Zhi Yong and Liu Shi Shi.

They got to the side of the pond and he said, "Let's see who catches the most fish till dinner time."

Zhi Yong nodded his head, didn't waste any time, and ran over to a patch of grass.

He squatted down and started to turn the soil looking for earthworms.

"Damn." Lin Xuan Qi got so excited about fishing that he had forgotten that he didn't have any bait.

Zhi Yong was indeed much smarter than he seemed.

He wanted to go and join in with the search for earthworms, but Zhi Yong waved at him and ran towards him.

"Master Lin, me give." Zhi Yong stopped in front of him and stretched out his palm with a few earthworms wriggling on it.

Lin Xuan Qi felt comforted by his gesture of presenting him with the earthworms.

"Thanks." Lin Xuan Qi thanked him, and he took one of the earthworms to hook it onto his fishing hook.

Zhi Yong smiled proudly at what he had done and did the same with one of the earthworms he had.

He also offered the earthworms to Liu Shi Shi and Yue Xin.

"Thank you so much, Zhi Yong."

Liu Shi Shi thanked him and put the earthworm onto her fishhook.

However, it wasn't the same for Yue Xin.

She couldn't help but squirm when she saw the earthworm wriggling.

"It's so scary... Long and bending..." She said innocently.

Lin Xuan Qi rolled his eyes at himself when he heard her and thought otherwise about what she had said.

To redeem himself, he came over and helped Yue Xin with the earthworm.

While he did so, he said to Yue Xin, "Come to my room tonight, alone."

"What?" Yue Xin couldn't believe her ears and glanced over at Yue Jie.

She was worried that Lin Xuan Qi was now only interested in her instead of her sister.

Lin Xuan Qi frowned and flicked his fingers onto her forehead.

"Ouch." She rubbed her forehead and gave him a plaintive look.

"It's not what you think. I've got something important to brief you."

She nodded and he led her to the side of the pond.

Lin Xuan Qi planned to brief Yue Xin and Liu Shi Shi on what he had wanted to do, asking the hands of Xue Cong and Yue Jie for marriage.

And now, he only had Liu Shi Shi left to approach.

After he swung his fishing hook with the bait into the pond, he plunged the fishing rod into the ground and let it be.

Liu Shi Shi was fishing at the extreme end to his left, and he walked over towards her.

His mind began to ponder about how he should approach the topic with Liu Shi Shi later in the night.

Yue Xin wasn't much of an issue for him.

He knew that she would be glad that Yue Jie would be with him.

As for Liu Shi Shi, he wasn't sure about how she would react to the news.

Would she be mad at the fact that Xue Cong would be his wife instead of her?

Or would she be mad that Yue Jie was the concubine in front of her instead?

There were so many possibilities but no matter what, he wanted to give her a heads up.

Liu Shi Shi who was sitting on the ground, holding her fishing rod, glanced at him and said in jest, "Are you here to steal my fishing techniques?"

"Huh, you wished I did that but..."

Lin Xuan Qi sat down beside her and glanced at her.

"What do you want?" Liu Shi Shi wasn't sure why he was looking at her in that manner.

He gave her a smile and said, "I need you to come to my room after midnight tonight, alone."

Liu Shi Shi pointed at her nose with her finger and said, "Me? Alone?"

She didn't know what he was up to and she thought about what had happened recently.

Maybe he wasn't happy with her performance as the security head, and he wanted something to be changed?

Or did he want to...

She recalled about him holding her hand earlier and she lowered her head.

Liu Shi Shi hadn't been with anyone before, and she had told herself that the only person worthy of her was Lin Xuan Qi.

He was talented with his poems and inventions.

And on top of that, he was kind and fair to everyone in the mansion.

Lin Xuan Qi was a man of her dreams.

With this thought in her mind, she nodded silently to what he had requested.
