Chapter 131: The Fight Begins

Finally, just a few seconds after the announcer finished speaking, Michael noticed that on his tablet, the betting window seemed to have been closed.

No matter what he did, it was impossible for him to be able to place another bet.

Yes, there was the option of him placing several bets. While there was a limit of $10 million per bet, that did not imply that he could not place multiple bets, being a repetition of the first bet.

But, he felt that there was no need for that. Additionally, for him to be able to win with the odds of 69, it was already enough to be able to attract attention towards himself.

If he won more than that, it would be inevitable that he would be infringing on the interests of those behind the betting site.

While he was not afraid of facing them, he did not want to face unnecessary troubles simply because of a little bit of money.

Adrian could earn more from the stock market. At the same time, he could earn more by converting SP into cash.

With his current SP balance being 26,820 points, it was already equivalent to $2.682 billion.

With such a huge amount of money, why bother having someone to deal with, just for another bit of money?

"The betting window has been officially closed. Now, prepare yourselves, as the battle of the day is going to start in the next 1 minute. The countdown starts now!" The announcer spoke once again.

And just as 1 minute was about to go by, the announcer spoke again.

"Starting with the Challenger! He was the former reigning champion of our Bloody Cage Arena for 3 years. He has participated in a total of 172 fights since he joined our Arena 5 years ago.

Out of 172 fights, he has won 157 and lost 15 of those fights. He became the champion 3 years ago, and has been dominating as the champion for 3 consecutive years, and lost his title 4 months ago.

After he lost the fight, losing his championship, he has never lost any battle since then, and today, it is a battle for him, a chance for him to be able to reclaim his title.

Ladies and gentlemen, let's all applause as we welcome the challenger, Beetle!" The announcer enthusiastically announced.

The moment that he mentioned the name of the combatant, the arena exploded with waves of screams and shouts, accompanied by clapping of hands.

From the way that the crowd was reacting, Michael could easily tell that this guy called Beetle had quite some support within the crowd.

At the same time as the announcer finished speaking, from a dark tunnel that led beneath the stands, a man walked out.

He had a medium build, a bald head and green eyes. Several scars could be noticed by Michael with his sharp eyesight, most probably from the injuries that he had suffered during the years of participating in these fights.

As he walked towards the ring, he carried himself with confidence, but did not seem to be paying much attention to the reaction of the crowd around him.

From the way that he looked, Michael seemed to feel that this guy did not participate in the boxing competition because of fame. Most probably, it was because of his thrill of a fight, or because of financial strains.

Beetle was currently bare-chested, exposing his compacted chest muscles and the six pack abs, with his biceps also being well defined.

From what he had observed in the previous fights that involved Beetle that he had watched before making a bet, it seemed that he was an agile type of fighter.

Beetle got to the ring, and stood in his corner, waiting for his opponent.

And as soon as the crowd began calming down, the announcer's voice once again echoed in the whole underground fighting arena.

"Now, let's welcome the current champion, who has been the champion for the past 4 months! He joined our Bloody Cage Arena 2 years ago, and has never lost a fight!

You all know him! He is the man who snatched the title from Beetle in their first clash, and has been able to defend it against different challengers.

But today, he has to face the former champion, the very same man that he snatched the title from. Will he be able to defend it, or will he lose it?

Ladies and gentlemen, please applause and welcome the current champion, Dave!" The announcer said, leading to the entire underground arena erupting in cheers.

Michael observed as a bulky guy emerged from the tunnel. Just like Beetle, he was not wearing any top, with only a short and a pair of sport shoes.

His bulky frame was covered in tattoos that made it quite difficult to spot the scars that were on his body.

On his left shoulder, he was carrying a belt that was awarded to him, a proof of the fact that he was the current champion of the underground fights.

As Michael observed this guy with a huge frame, who had an impressive battle record, he was silent for a while.

As for Alex, Raymond and the others, they got even more nervous.

While placing the bets, it was not that they did not know about Dave's record. They knew that he had joined the arena later as compared to beetle.

While it might be true that Beetle had not lost any battle for the past 3 years, apart from the one that happened 4 months ago, when he clashed with Dave, it was still not as good as Dave's record.

After all, he had lost a total of 14 matches before becoming the champion, with the 15th loss being to Dave.

This guy called Dave was quite ruthless. Most of his opponents ended up with several broken bones, and the guy even had two records of killing his opponents.

But it was this ruthlessness that drove the crowd crazy, making him the idol of most of the spectators.

So, as he was waving his hands around, obviously enjoying the attention that he was receiving from the crowd, he smiled as he walked towards the ring.

When he jumped into the ring, he gazed at Beetle with a provocative gaze. He seemed to be saying something to Beetle, but due to the loud noise in the arena, it was impossible to make out what he was saying.

Despite what he was saying, beetle did not respond at all. He did not react, not even a shift in his expression.

Dave was seemingly not bothered with the lack of response from beetle. Instead, he just turned and faced the crowd, enjoying the limelight.

In the middle of the arena, standing between the two corners and the two combatants was a man dressed in a white shirt and a red bow tie, with black trousers and a pair of black shoes.

He was wearing white latex gloves, obviously the official that was going to be in charge of officiating this match.

As the crowd began settling down, the official spoke to the two fighters, obviously making sure that they were ready for the fight.

Finally, as Dave's belt was set aside, and the two combatants met up in the middle of the ring, the official spoke to the two of them again.

After that, he moved to the very edge of the ring, before he suddenly dropped his hand as if he was chopping at something using his hand, then slid out of the ring.

Ting!

The moment that he did that, there was the sound of a bell ringing, officially starting the match between Dave and Beetle.

The crowd was hyped, as they once again began chanting. It was a battle between the supporters of the two fighters.

Beetle had been here for 5 years, building quite a fan base. But with the current record that Dave had, his supporters were not few. That was especially considering that he was the current champion, leading to him having quite a huge fan base.

Dave moved first, his punch thrown with raw force. Beetle reacted as he shifted just in time, absorbing some of the impact and stepping out of range to land a sharp jab to Dave's ribs.

The punch thudded against flesh, making Dave stagger slightly, but he recovered quickly, swinging a wide hook aimed at Beetle's head. Beetle ducked, rolling under the swing, and countered with a quick kick to the shoulder.

The two of them traded blows continuously, neither giving an opening. Dave pressed forward, striking with heavy hooks and straight punches, each one aimed at pushing Beetle back.

Beetle on the other hand parried, blocked, and dodged where necessary, retaliating with fast, precise strikes to weak points. His attacks varied, an elbow to the ribs, a quick knee, a spinning kick to the side...

Each move counted; one mistake could cost the fight.

Dave, despite his bulky frame, attempted a high kick with surprising agility, testing Beetle's timing.

Beetle stepped back and delivered a rapid combination of jabs to the chest and head, forcing Dave to retreat.

Dave's counters were powerful, swinging with the intent to end the fight, but Beetle's skill allowed him to anticipate openings, slip past strikes, and exploit any overextension.

The fight between the two of them was quite tense, as each attack from one of them could be damaging if it caught the opponent off guard.

Just from this battle, Michael was able to see the point that he had noticed from the previous two fights that he had watched, with Beetle being the main character.

"Michael, what is the chance of winning this bet?" Alex could not help but ask in a low voice as he closed in on Michael, to avoid the noise preventing him from being heard.
