The Crowned Greed: Transmigrated into a Demonic Dragon

Chapter 116: A Grenade!

Around 70%

That was Dante's current progress in reading the chaos magic book.

The book didn't only provide some spells, but also explanations of the chaos magic itself, which helped Dante to modify the spells according to his needs and combine them with the Misfortune Aspect.

And from what he read so far, he realized that he had learnt all the available spells, except for the one that he didn't finish reading. All that remained was more information to deepen his understanding of chaos magic as a whole.

However, all that could wait, as Dante now had two attacks to test.

As he stood before the dummy, Dante clenched his demonic hand into a fist and stood in a fighting stance. Suddenly, his legs pressed forcefully on the ground as he launched himself forward at a rapid speed.

His figure blurred as he immediately closed the distance between himself and the dummy, then he swung his hand, aiming for the dummy's head.

The pushed air alone was enough to show the force that the fist contained. But when Dante's fist was about to shatter the dummy's wooden head…

Chaos Magic — Chaotic Impact!

Instead of hearing the sound of shattering, nothing resounded.

Dante's hand went into the dummy's head and continued forward with chaotic energy that flickered between white and black covering his hand, but it didn't pierce or even harm the head. Instead, it just phased through the head like a ghost hand.

"I'm truly unlucky." Dante clenched the other hand into a fist and tried again.

Chaos Magic — Chaotic Impact!

Dante swung his arm again, but once again, no sound echoed through the room.

As he looked at the dummy, he noticed that his hand only broke a small piece of the dummy without making a sound.

Chaos Magic — Chaotic Impact!

BAM!

Dante landed another blow, which caused a loud sound and even a shockwave that pushed Dante's hair backward. However, when he looked at the dummy…

"Not even a scratch!" Dante barely suppressed a laugh as he thought that the situation was a bit funny.

Unlike everything else he had learnt from the chaos magic book, the chaotic impact was the only attack that was a technique rather than a spell.

By covering a part of his body—like his hand or his leg—with chaos energy, he would be able to perform attacks with chaotic, random effects.

A small touch of his finger might shatter a tree.

A brute kick might harmlessly pass through a rock.

A normal punch might cut bread.

An uppercut might send the receiver downward.

It was completely random and unpredictable. It was a technique that would normally be used only in a desperate situation because of its dangers.

But…

"I have the Misfortune Aspect." Dante's lips curled into a smirk as he clenched his hand firmly.

Misfortune-Chaos Magic — Harmful Impact!

BOOM!

The dummy's round head shattered into pieces once Dante's hand touched it.

"How can this energy be from Earth? It shatters everything I know about physics!" Dante wondered as he analyzed the new impact of the attack, his eyes wide with surprise.

When his hand landed on the dummy, the dummy's head exploded with wooden shards flying everywhere.

The problem was—that wasn't logical!

If he attacked from the right, the shards should have flown to the left! But instead, the force of the impact just decided to go into different directions.

Dante took a few steps backward and decided to try the second spell: "I want to keep trying more attacks to see more chaotic impacts, but I have only two dummies, unfortunately, and the next attack deserves more testing. I should make more of them tomorrow."

The next moment, Dante created a sphere that surrounded the place, leaving him and the headless dummy isolated within the room.

That was just a small act of safety, as Dante was afraid that he might harm the room by mistake.

"I'm ready." Dante inhaled deeply before converting his mana into chaos energy.

Chaos Magic — Chaos Grenade!

Insanity, a small grenade that flickered between white and black materialized in Dante's hand.

Without a second thought, Dante threw the grenade toward the dummy and ran.

He didn't just run from the area…

He used Shadowstep and left the room!

Dante quickly closed the room's door and used Shadowstep again, going as far as possible from the room.

RUMBLE!

"Shit…" Dante gulped nervously after hearing the sound that echoed throughout the entire treehouse.

Using the formation, he saw clearly what happened inside the room, which only made him both happy and terrified.

The headless dummy was no more there.

Not only the headless dummy, but even the untouched one was affected!

The entire room was filled with green smoke, which dissolved the headless dummy into a green liquid and dissolved half of the other dummy.

The room itself was barely resisting the smoke, as the wall's durability alongside the magical dye helped in resisting the strange smoke.

However, they were still affected as they showed some faint cracks across the floor where the grenade exploded.

Thankfully, the green smoke was slowly disappearing.

"If the chaos magic guide contains a grenade, does the advanced book contain a nuke?" Dante wondered before deciding to rest. He didn't want to test that spell anymore.

The chaos grenade, as the name suggested, was a spell that created a small grenade filled with chaos energy. After a few seconds, the grenade would explode, releasing all the chaos energy stored inside.

Like anything related to chaos energy, the effects were always random. The grenade might release a faint wave of warm wind, but it was also able to freeze everything around.

And just now, the grenade seemed to release a kind of chemical gas that could dissolve solids.

The only purpose of using the Misfortune Aspect with the chaos energy was to show the harmful effects. Seeing the chemical gas, Dante didn't need to test the spell with some misfortune.

"I just want to rest for now…"

Dante quickly moved to the bedroom and collapsed over his bed. The last chaos spell could wait.

But before closing his eyes, Dante ordered: "Fafnir, remember to do your best to find a way to get food secretly for Elizabeth if her condition becomes critical due to hunger. Don't even bother with the others. If a giant tries to harm you, you're allowed to use demonic energy and chaos energy so long as no human sees you, and the silver Ether should be your last option."

Sitting on Elizabeth's shoulders, Fafnir nodded seriously. He decided to wait for a few days before searching for a way to leave the camp without anyone noticing.

Now, he only had to convince Elizabeth to keep everything a secret.

He was about to press on her cheek to get her attention, but when he noticed the heavy emotions she carried right now, he decided to wait for some time.

After all, Elizabeth, Mira, and Michael were now standing in front of Ragnar's corpse.

Ragnar was the holy knight who served Mira, so now, Mira was the one who was affected the most by his death.

As for Elizabeth, she saw herself in Mira, remembering the day when she cried in the village after her knights died.

That wasn't the best time for Fafnir to talk about food.
