I Became Part of the Dragon's Hoard

Chapter 43: According to my Calculations...Try Walking

Bery watched as Valerie walked to a part of her hoard in the enormous sea of items. The dragoness found a vaguely humanoid shaped object, but it was missing many of its body parts. It didn't have its left arm and right leg and pieces of the head were missing. Overall, it looked like an ancient stone golem, and the center of its chest was concave.

Valerie lifted it and brought it in front of the elf. "Do you think you could stitch together some body parts for this thing and mend it?"

"I could do that, but I still don't understand. Do you have a core in this large pile you plan to insert into it?"

The dragoness shook her head and gestured towards her kitten. "Not me, she does."

Bery nodded and walked forward. She showed Emary her arm that had Yuri in it. "Inside of this, I have what could be considered a mana core."

"In your arm? Why do you have something like that."

"It was an accident, and she saved me when I was hurt."

Yuri spoke inside of Bery's head. "Notice. I have calculated how this mana will allow me to traverse out of your body and into the body of that golem. I've been changing my functions slowly to incorporate mana as a power source."

Huh? When did you have time to do all of that?

"Administrator...I had plenty of time while you were daydreaming with lady Valerie."

I thought that you said exiting would cause me harm?

"I calculated and figured out how to use mana while you were practicing. Lady Valerie spoke to me while you were sleeping, Administrator."

The kitten's eyes widened towards her dragoness. "You talked to Yuri while I was asleep?"

Valerie grinned. "Of course. I wanted to figure out a way for her to come out that would not cause you any harm, and this is what we thought of." The dragoness looked back at the elf. "So, Bery has the little passenger that will take this spot. I need you to form its body for me."

The dragoness dropped it onto the ground, and the floor vibrated.

Emary's eyes widened. "Hey, that is heavier than it looks, isn't it?"

Valerie shrugged. "For me it's not that heavy. My natural body is many times heavier than this piece of rock. More importantly, I would like to see you make its body."

The elf sighed and got onto her knees next to the broken stone golem. Her palm turned a light green in color, and she pressed it against the body. Nature magic flowed into the thing, and bits of it were stitched together by small wooden strands. The missing arms and legs were replaced by hard wooden variants. The vibrant life magic even bloomed flowers and pretty green leaves over the body.

At the end, she made a small wooden capsule in the thing's concave chest. "There, if you will provide the core now."

Yuri's voice spoke once more into Bery's mind. "Administrator Bery, if you would, please channel your water magic. Imagine that you are going to cover this with droplets of water."

Bery did as she was asked. She placed her palm above the rock golem and closed her eyes. That swirling and nauseating feeling returned to her stomach, and a bubbling heat filled her chest.

She opened her eyes, and as she did, she was surprised by what she saw. Instead of water dripping from her fingertips, it was liquid metal. The metal dripped until it formed a triangle, and then it hardened in the air.

It buzzed and blinked in front of Bery. "Thank you for taking good care of me, Administrator."

Yuri's triangular body fell hard onto the stone golem.

Valerie looked towards the elf. "Now! You do this, or that piece of metal will die."

"Huh?"

Emary flinched, and then she focused hard on the task in front of her. She gripped the piece of metal and placed it inside of the cavity of the golem. She channeled nature magic into it, and the piece of metal slowly integrated into the golem's chest.

The chest cavity blinked several times, and then the stone golem grew circular eyes that started glowing.

Elanore rushed from her gold swimming to come and look at the phenomenon with the rest of the group. They all stared at this new creation, wondering what she would do.

Yuri's voice transmitted in monotone from her chest. "Y.U.R.I is now fully operational. All functions normal. Notice…"

The golem attempted to stand, but her legs gave out from under her. She fell back onto the floor with a hard thunk.

"Notice. Y.U.R.I needs help standing. Lady Valerie…"

The dragoness chuckled and pulled the golem to her feet.

Yuri stood on her one stone foot and wooden foot. She turned her rocky head towards each of them, until her eyes finally fell on Bery. "Thank you, Administrator."

Bery shook her head. She walked over and gave the cold stone golem a hug. "You don't need to thank me for anything, Yuri. How are you feeling? Happy?"

The stone head turned all the way around and back again. "Happy?" Yuri's glowing eyes darkened and lit again. "Yes, Administrator. Y.U.R.I is happy."

Elanore looked at the golem with surprise. "I've never seen a golem like this!"

Emary nodded. "I am as shocked as you are. This golem seems much more intelligent than usual. What kind of core is this?"

"Y.U.R.I is not a golem. Y.U.R.I is Your Universal Reasoning Intelligence. I am a robot with Artificial Intelligence possessing a golem's body." Yuri looked down at Bery in front of her and gently patted the kitten's head with her wooden hand. "And this is Administrator Bery."

Emary grabbed Bery's shoulder. "You never told me that you had something like this inside of you!"

"Ah...This is more of a recent development. I had no idea that Yuri was a mana core."

"Again," Yuri said, "Y.U-"

"Wow!" Elanore gasped. She grabbed onto the golem's stone arm. "Even though you were just a piece of rock a second ago, you got up and started moving around!"

Valerie pulled the vampiress away from the golem. "You need to stop. Yuri is a newly formed creature. She will need time to adjust."

Bery could swear she heard a monotone sigh coming from the robot, and the kitten resumed hugging her. "Don't even worry about it. I will make sure that you get acquainted here. You helped me so much after all."

"Yes, Administrator! Yuri will make sure to adjust fast. My functionalities may be used to enhance this place."

"There you go again, Yuri. You know I have no idea what you're talking about. You don't have to be a slave or anything. Just enjoy yourself!"

Yuri spent a while observing the treasure room, and Bery led her towards the exit.

The kitten couldn't help but find Yuri endearing. She would stumble on each piece of rock, and she would constantly nearly fall over. She struggled to walk, and she had to learn to steady herself with the cave walls. It was a long and slow process to get her towards the medical room.

Yuri turned her round stone head towards the circular metal piece. "Administrator and Lady Valerie. Would it be alright if I stayed in this place?"

Valerie raised an eyebrow. "You want to stay in the healing room?"

"If that is alright, Lady Valerie."

The dragoness smiled. "Other than Bery, you are the most well-behaved one. You may sleep in there if that is what you wish."

"Yuri does not need sleep, Lady Valerie. Though, I am highly compatible with the remains of this star ship. I might be able to restore some of its functionality. If I would be allowed to do so."

"As long as you don't mess with the rest of my treasures, I don't mind what you do with this."

Bery cut between the both of them. "But! You are not allowed to stay in here by yourself all day! You will have to come outside with both of us during the day, and you are only allowed to come in here at night!"

Valerie chuckled and pet the kitten's head. "You heard the lady."

Yuri tried to bow and fell head first against the dirt floor with a rumble. "Yes, Administrator. Lady Valerie, would you please assist me?"

Bery found it hard to not laugh at the silly rock implement. She watched as Valerie lifted her back up. "Do you need help learning how to walk?"

"That is unnecessary, Administrator Bery. Each step, I am calculating the distance my feet must travel. I am assessing differences in elevation on the floor. I am mapping the terrain as I step so that there are no issues in my movement."

Bery could only tilt her head. "You don't need to do calculations to walk. Just place one foot after the other, and you will learn it quickly!"

"Yes, Administrator. I shall add that to my calculations..."
