I Became Part of the Dragon's Hoard

Chapter 50: Draganai'n or Kanai'gon?

Bery looked inside of the large stone box with surprise. There were coffers arranged neatly, and there was not a single loose gold coin or piece of jewelry in sight.

"Yuri, you already did all of this? How is that possible?"

The golem nodded her round stone head. "Indeed, all of this was possible because I figured out how to use magic more efficiently. At first, each action took a lot of magic power, but I figured out a golden ration in using magic."

Bery sighed and shook her head. "There you go again, saying things that are hard to understand."

"My apologies. Allow me to demonstrate, administrator Bery."

The golem channeled her magic, and leaves floated away from her body. They opened each of the coffers. Each leaf wrapped itself around a gold coin or a piece of jewelry and lifted it into the air.

"I have figured out that I have a strong affinity for these types of magics."

Valerie nodded while watching. "I presume this is some kind of nature magic like what Emary uses?"

"Indeed, Lady Valerie. I have found that my strongest affinities are for earth and nature magic. Though, I still cannot wrap my processor around the principle. Why are there affinities to begin with? I calculated that mana must be some kind of particle, but that is not the case."

"A particle?" Bery asked with a tilt of her head.

"Indeed, particles make up the air that you humanoids breathe in, and they make up things like the atmosphere. I tried to calculate mana as if it would fit on the periodic table, but that's not the case. Mana can create things like fire or stone, so it doesn't make sense. When I focused in the direction of mana being a fundamental force, my equations started working better."

Valerie clapped her hands. "Well done, indeed. This is quite deserving of praise. As for your affinities, I have some idea of why that is. Golems use the magic of their core, and you were slotted inside of a rock golem with parts from Emary's nature magic."

Yuri spun her head around and used her magic to place the coins back in their coffers. Her eyes lit up. "I see, so if I was given a body that was made of different parts, I would be able to cast different magic?"

Valerie nodded. "That should be the case. The capacity of your magic will be lower than mine no matter what, but you will be a very efficient magic user. It's quite possible that you are already almost as efficient as I am."

Yuri seemed to take pride in that statement, and her core made a metallic purring sound. "Your words are wasted on me, Lady Valerie."

"Quite the opposite. In fact, I would love if you could continue to show how great you are when you take over the nearby town."

Bery giggled. "I had no idea that you were actually serious about that. I wonder if people would be happy being led by a golem?"

Valerie shrugged. "If they cannot be happy being governed by a golem, then I will ask them to move away. I believe that no one else can do it. You nor I have any competency in that regard, but Yuri has already shown the skills to do so."

Bery tilted her head. "How so?"

"An administrative figure needs to be efficient and good at managing funds. In no less than half a day, she had already sorted out an entire vault. The only issue is the way she is. It's hard for people to want to follow someone that isn't charismatic or charming. Yuri is endearing, but she doesn't seem like a leader. She doesn't have the words that would convince people."

Bery nodded and placed her hand on Yuri's wooden hand. "It's okay. I think that you would be great at the job. Though, doesn't this mean that we are saddling you with even more work?"

"Do not pay it any mind in the slightest, Administrator Bery. I will perform all tasks asked of me to excellency. Besides, this has added new calculations to my program."

Bery smiled wryly, wondering what calculations she could possibly be talking about. After seeing this vault, the kitten had no idea what Yuri could be thinking. I imagine that this golem would change the entire world if given enough time.

Valerie placed a hand on her chin. "You should not have to do much. You will mostly collect their taxes and find ways to improve their lives. You would be their leader in every way except name. If I were to compare this situation to other kingdoms, you would be acting as the queen's advisor."

"I am honored to become an advisor. My program has recognized the difficulties in trying to reason with different people."

Valerie shook her head and sighed. "Reasoning with people is hard whether you're a golem or a person. That's because each person is not exactly reasonable. People will say things and act in different ways. As we are all flawed."

"Except for you!" Bery yelped and latched onto Valerie's hand.

The dragoness chuckled and kissed the kitten's cheek. "I am also part of those flawed beings. If I could solve every issue perfectly, then life would not be as fun. Functionally, the only difference between me and you is the power difference. My heart is just like yours."

Bery grinned. "And that's why it's so easy for our hearts to become intertwined."

"Indeed, my kitten. Our hearts are linked together by the threads of both of our imperfections, and it is through these threads that we can see each other as we truly are."

Bery sighed. "There you go being all poetic again, but that is also what I love about you."

Valerie must've noticed that Yuri was simply standing and watching their interaction. The dragoness feigned a cough. "Anyway, all of those matters shall be settled later. What's more important now is that you join us outside. It is good for you to get fresh air, and because the kitten's heart is so big, I will not allow you to work yourself into an early grave."

"It is impossible for…"

Valerie cut the robot off. "No ifs, ands, or buts. I don't care if you think it's impossible for your body to degrade. The natural forces of the world also eat rocks and trees just the same as people. You will come outside whether you like it or not."

Bery giggled at their exchange and held onto her dragon's hand. "It's so funny to hear that from you. Weren't you the one that holed yourself up in a mountain for such a long time?"

Valerie's face flushed and she pulled the kitten into her chest. "That was that, and this is this. Besides, I left my shut in lifestyle in order for you to see more of the world."

"And here we are back to our shut in lifestyle."

"This time is different! We are taking a break before we go on another adventure.'

Bery looked up at the flustered dragon with a sly grin. She stood on the tips of her toes and gave Valerie a quick kiss on the mouth. "I should tease you more often for all of the times you've teased me."

Valerie returned the kitten's grin. "If you do that, then we both know what will happen at the end. Has my little water magic user already forgot her specialty? I will give you plenty more lessons in water magic before the night is over if you keep it up."

Bery flushed red and pulled on Valerie's hand. "Okay! Let's go outside. Sheesh, how can one dragon be so insatiable?"

"As a dragon, I have a bountiful appetite, and you're like a full meal. I could devour you over and over again."

"Hey! Not in front of Yuri!"

"It's okay, she's like a child with no understanding of such matters anyway."

Yuri nodded. "All primal humanoid actions remain elusive to my processing systems. I only understand it as a means of reproduction, but since you are both female, the functionality of such endeavors eludes me."

Valerie turned to the golem. "Even if we are both female, we still committed the act, and then you came out of Bery. If that doesn't make you our child, then I have no idea what would. This is the very definition of breeding."

"Br-breeding," Bery stammered. "I thought this is only supposed to happen after two people get married."

"And that's why I've been telling you that I will marry you. Once we sanctify our vows, then you will make a whole litter of kittens. Or maybe they would be dragon kittens?" The dragon pondered while looking at Bery. "What would a cross between a dragon and a kitten be called?"

Yuri processed the information and produced a monotone response. "I suppose that such a child would be called a Kanai'gon or a Draganai'n."
