" I'm sure it'll be fine." Lucius said trying to reassure her.
' It's not like I have a choice, either I become versed in magic, or someone who is will eventually end up giving me a hard time.'
He picked up the chalice and drank the potion in one gulp.
"...!!!" Lucius pupils dilated right after, he felt a strange feeling growing throughout his body, as if something cold was slowly coating all the cells in his body.
" Nnghhh..." Lucius muffled a groan when he felt a chill creep towards his heart and mind yet he refused to worry Su.
He swayed a bit but grabbed at the edge of the desk to stabilize himself. He gritted his teeth, refusing to topple over, even as his vision began to sway.
" Young master..."
" It's alright. I'm fine..." Lucius replied back in a hoarse voice. Eventually, all the strange bodily symptoms came to a stop.
" See... I told you I was fine." Lucius struggled to catch his breath. He quietly made his way to the bed before sitting at it's edge.
Lucius eyes turned a complete shade of grey the next moment, not only that, he noticed something strange that took him by surprise.
In his peripheral vision, everything had changed or should he say, the way he perceived them had taken an unexpected turn. All the objects, whether furniture or the like, had taken a grey colour. His entire room seemed to have become an eerie grey space, but grey wasn't the only colour he perceived.
When he glanced at Su, he didn't know how to react, because he witnesses a strange wisp like colour continuously permeating from her form, the wisps had no colour, but seemed more like a transparent vapour.
' I'm guessing the potion was a success.' Lucius muttered to himself. Since he didn't see the same vapour around around the objects in his room, he concluded that, that, vapour, must be some kind of characteristics that only living beings possessed.
' Could that vapour be life force!' his eyes trembled with fascination.
Giving it more thought, he concluded that his thought must be right, or perhaps close to being right. If that transparent energy was really ones life force then it did make sense.
' Su must be in the prime of her life since she's permeating so much life force.' Lucius thought to himself, a wary expression on his face as he stared at his maid who's own transparent energy was surging like a small tide.
Lucius glanced at himself and saw that his own transparent energy wasn't as great as hers, honestly, it was a lot weaker in comparison.
' I think I need more time to really decipher this new ability of mine.' He said to himself.
" Su, I'm feeling a bit parched, would you be a dear and go get me a glass of water."
" As you wish young master." Su bowed lightly before exiting the room to complete his order.
Now alone, Lucius walked around his room, inspecting several other things just to make sure his conjecture was correct. Like he expected, all the objects within his room appeared grey in his eyes, non retaining their original colors.
' I wonder what else I can see.' he muttered to himself, making his way to his window.
' Woah...' A gasp escaped his lips when he saw the scenery outside.
The entire estate had taken a grey turn, well, except for the vegetation and flora that retained their original colour as well as possessed the same transparent energy, although it carried from plant to plant.
The sky on the other hand was strangely a pure shade of white instead of it's usually blue contour. The grey clouds above gave it a even stranger sheen.
' Huh? What's that?' Lucius mumbled to himself, his eyes glanced farther towards the edge of the estate, where a strange silhouette stood. It didn't look like a wild animal but stood upright like a...
" Human?" Lucius felt his throat turn dry all of a sudden. ' Where's Su with that glass of water.' Lucius held his throat, feeling more parched than ever.
" Wait, where did it go?" Lucius eyes roamed about towards the the edge of the estate but the strange silhouette had vanished.
" What?" His fingers unconsciously clenched onto his window frame, he spotted the silhouette once more, only this time, it was now within the estate, in the gardens.
Lucius felt even more strange because he felt a prickling sensation creeping onto his skin the more he looked at the silhouette, he stiffened when it's figure vanished once more, this time appearing even closer towards his window.
Now that it was closure, he got a closer look of the target, it looked like a woman in torn and tattered clothing, just like her clothes, her hair was a mess as her hands clawed at it madly, her eyes bloodshot yet they continued to glare at Lucius who was by his window.
" What on earth is she?!" Lucius feet took a step backward, nearly tripping on himself because he noticed something extremely bizarre about the woman, unlike he or even Su, she didn't possess the transparent energy permeating from her form, instead a black energy continued to permeate from her.
Lucius stiffened when the woman's figure vanished repeatedly, each time, crossing a significant distance between her and the window.
' With these eyes, you shall peak into the secrets of the world around you, but be careful for as you gaze into it, it shall gaze back at you....'
Lucius suddenly recalled the Grimoire's cryptic warning from earlier.
' So this is what it meant when it said I'd be gazed at.' A faint sheet of cold sweat emerged on his forehead.
He grabbed the windows and shut them but he felt bitter thinking to himself, that it was absurd to think that a closed window could stop a being like that.
' Should I leave? But what if it chases after me. Wouldn't I be putting the entire estate in danger.' Lucius's mind began to churn, trying to come up with ways to deal with this situation but the more he thought, the more he realized that he didn't know anything!
" Tsk!" His tongue clicked sharply when he realized that the strange woman was no longer outside the window.
Lucius didn't hesitate to leap onto his bed, the moment he rolled and got back on his feet, he saw the strange woman standing inches away from the spot he was originally on. One pale hand equiped with chilling long finger nails outstretched mid air.
Her blood shot crazed eyes shifted towards him.
" You can... see me..." The woman mumbled, pausing for a moment.
The next moment her body trembled slightly, a strange maddened laughter escaping her mouth.
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
You can see me!
.....
Her shrill voice made Lucius groan in pain as he clutched his ears, and yet he continued to hear it even then.
Lucius instantly understood the meaning behind her words and realized that he had made a grave mistake.
From the looks of it, the strange woman must be some kind of spirit, and she hadn't expected him to notice her, she was only acting naturally.
If that were the case, it meant that earlier, she had no intentions of harming him, but now, that might not be this case...
YOU CAN SEE ME!!!!
The crazed woman lunged at Lucius, pinning him down on his bed. Her hands were tightly clenched around his neck.
" Arrck!" Lucius was being chocked the the crazed woman, he grabbed at her hands, the ice like chill he felt from touching her, further solidified his notions on her truly being a ghost.
He tried to pull her hands off him but her grip felt like a cruel vice, unwilling to let go, not to mention the strength behind it was something even he found hard to believe.
Lucius continued to struggle and struggle but to no avail, the female ghost became more and more ecstatic as she watched him squirm within her grasp.
Only now did Lucius realize how grave his situation was, thoughts of death soon began to infiltrate his mind but instead of viewing it as a form of escape, he was terrified.
Terrified by the fact that he had no idea what would happen if he died this time.
Would he gain a new body?
Would this be the end and he'd truly end up as a ghost once he died?
What would happen to this body? Would another imposter take over from him?
What would happen to Su after his departure... Would the new imposter go back to acting like how he once was, treating her and everyone around him with such wickedness.
' Damnit! There's just too many thinks that could happen!'
' I can't just die like this, I've only been in this body for less than 3 days!' Lucius's eyes burned with determination yet with no way out, his new found conviction was no different from a leaking gas cylinder, slowly wasting away.
