Clang! Clang! Clang!
Taking advantage of Arthur's mistake, as though they possessed intelligence, the beasts pounced on him without hesitation and were about to slaughter him to pieces, turning him into minced meat.
Just as they made their move, they collided with something terrifyingly metallic.
Arthur looked up to see Titan standing in front of him.
This dragon knight, despite being in a heated battle, was still keeping tabs on him and making sure he was safe at all times.
Upon sensing danger, Titan didn't hesitate to use his space element to lunge himself there.
Arthur was grateful as he stared at Titan.
Meanwhile, a few birds that clashed against Titan smashed apart due to the force of the collision.
At the same time a burst of incinerating flames erupted from Titan's golden armor.
It was clear he was extremely furious and angered by the situation.
Without hesitation his attacks moved with lightning speed, colliding with the birds, burning most of them to ashes and causing loud screeches to echo in Arthur's ears.
Arthur felt the ground cave in slightly due to Titan's weight and he feared he might sink at any moment.
Instantly, his heart skipped a beat.
Falling would only mean death. The island was floating in the middle of the skies.
Falling endlessly would only lead to death.
Arthur's heart beat in alarm when he felt his perception shift, and he was astounded to realize he had appeared somewhere else entirely.
Titan, noticing the danger, had immediately prioritized Arthur's safety.
Arthur stood without hesitation and glanced around.
He realized Titan had taken him to a place with far fewer beasts.
With a wry smile on his face Arthur dusted off his clothes and brandished his sword once more, his movements as swift as the wind.
Titan returned to the location of the birds that had harmed Arthur and began another display of brutality.
The battle between the two sides dragged on for a bit until finally the horde began to dwindle.
With no more birds flying toward the island, Arthur could tell the whole thing was coming to an end.
And just as he expected, within a few more minutes everything finally concluded and Arthur, Nephis, and Titan dealt with all the beasts.
Finally, Arthur exhaled in relief, collapsing to the ground with a tired expression.
"Damn, didn't think an E rank dungeon would be so exhausting!"
With a low exhale he glanced around and finally called up the system.
Immediately the seductive feminine voice echoed in his mind with all sorts of messages.
[Congratulations on getting the corresponding EXPs, you have leveled up.]
[You have leveled up.]
[You have leveled up.]
Arthur saw lines of notifications about leveling up, numbering almost fifty. In essence he had gotten fifty free attributes.
Arthur was impressed.
'Perhaps this many beasts might not be as bad as I thought…' Arthur chuckled lowly.
Ignoring the long list of notifications, he glanced down and noticed he had also gathered a substantial amount of loot.
[Killed Left Winged Bird. Loot dropped.]
[Killed Left Winged Bird. Loot dropped.]
[Killed Left Winged Bird. Loot dropped.]
[Killed Left Winged Bird. Loot dropped.]
Arthur saw hundreds of similar notifications and, with excitement, quickly looked into his system space.
Just as he was about to shift his attention to it, the seductive voice sounded again, particularly entrancing this time.
[Detected a large amount of health recovery and mana recovery potions. Would you like to combine them and sublimate them into one of higher grade?]
'That's possible?' Arthur was speechless and nodded without hesitation.
If his guess wasn't wrong, with how weak these beasts were, chances were most, if not all, had dropped only middle grade potions.
Although those were enough for now, who wouldn't prefer something of higher grade?
Arthur grinned and waited for the system's reply.
The sublimation process lasted for a few seconds before the system flashed a line of text, and the seductive voice echoed in his mind.
[Sublimation successful. Congratulations on getting 10 top grade potions.]
'Just ten?' Arthur was dumbfounded, feeling he had lost out a bit in the exchange.
However, the system's next line of words caused him to freeze.
[Please note that top grade health potions can regenerate lost limbs, enhance cellular recovery, and improve one's performance in that aspect.]
Arthur was speechless at the seductive voice's emphasis on that.
His face turned slightly red as he understood what it meant.
I'm still a virgin so it's nothing to think about for now…
Arthur shrugged and no longer paid attention to that notification.
With a speechless expression he read the description of the second potion.
[Please note that a top grade mana recovery potion can regenerate mana actively at ten times the normal rate. At even higher grades, one can drink a mana recovery potion and have unlimited mana for the duration it lasts.]
Reading through the information, Arthur was filled with shock.
'Unholy fuck.'
Unlimited mana?
Arthur felt his mind explode at the concept.
He glanced at Titan speechlessly.
If this monstrous dragon knight had enough mana for even a few seconds, just what kind of destructive might would he unleash?
Normally Titan never used his full strength since he was minimizing mana consumption.
But what if that limitation vanished?
With a dumbfounded expression Arthur turned away and sighed.
'Hopefully I can get my hands on such a potion one day.'
Resolve burned in his heart as he was about to check other things in the system screen when something interrupted him.
A white fluffy tail brushed against his nose, making him want to sneeze, before the tail pointed toward the dead birds in the distance.
Arthur was bewildered.
'Are you so hungry you want to eat dungeon creatures?'
He stared at the little fox and noticed its pitiful expression.
With a sigh he took out some wood and cooking equipment from his system space.
It was one of the sets he always carried whenever he went out in case he needed to prepare a quick meal.
Besides…
Arthur glanced at his three calamities.
"We've never had a single meal as a family."
Glancing around, Arthur found somewhere safe to sit and began preparing the items.
Nephis watched curiously and approached, staring intently at his hands as they moved.
Her lips parted slightly.
"Young master, should I help you with something?"
Arthur paused and raised his head to meet her gaze beneath the black veil.
Even though he couldn't see her eyes, he could feel the burning curiosity behind it.
"You don't know how to cook?"
Arthur didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
Nephis acted like a child caught doing something wrong.
With a flushed face she tilted her head to the side.
"I… don't know."
Comparing the image of this shy Nephis to the goddess of death he saw in the vision when awakening the calamity, Arthur was slightly dumbfounded.
That was right.
With revenge consuming her thoughts, when did she ever have time to cook?
With a low laugh, Arthur patted the space beside him and gestured towards Nephis.
"Come, I'll teach you how to cook."
Nephis lit up instantly and rushed to his side without any hesitation.
"Thank you, master."
