The more they Believe, The Richer I get

Chapter 25: Min-So and Her Mom.

"So she just wants to talk with me? That's weird, but at least she does have the guts."

Seated in the campus library, Grace tried to pull the books together. She'd skipped PE again to read alone, and Chris—sitting across from her—was stacking the books into a neat pile she couldn't manage herself. She was perfect in every way… except she was a bit messy.

"Yeah, weird and kind of strange, but we can make amends. Let's take her to somewhere nice for dinner."

He handed her the last book. The pile was almost up to her neck, so he just took it from her hands. Grace grabbed her backpack naturally, walking beside him toward the checkout desk. After returning every book, they stepped back outside.

"Sure, let's do that, she looks nice enough, and I made her cry too much anyway."

Under the cold sun, Grace smiled. Her pale skin looked devastatingly beautiful, and her natural pink hair seemed to glow.

"But who told her I don't have any friends? You did? "

"I didn't, she told me you and her are alike."

"Alike? Well, well, does she also have a super handsome boyfriend?"

"I don't think she's allowed to have one."

"Allowed? What are we in the Army?"

"She's an idol, come let me explain."

Both of them walked together in the hallway, the school was somewhat empty, and those who were still on the campus were leaving it just like them.

Reaching the parking lot, they saw Min-So standing with an older Korean woman, both of them looked nervous, while ever-so-confident Grace's smile also froze. She was also nervous to deal with a parent all of a sudden.

"Don't worry, I am with you, she's not here to complain, remember?"

"Y...Yeah, thanks."

Her slow steps picked up the pace after hearing Chris's voice just beside her, the paused smile returned with an even bigger grin.

"Minnie, is this your mother?"

"Yes, yes, Eomma, Grace, and Chris."

Reaching them Grace opened her mouth first, Kim Min-So instantly smiled and introduced them to her mother. The older woman instantly bowed gently, then extended her hands towards Grace.

"She wants to handshake."

Min-So, who was the bridge between them, translated her mother's action. Grace smiled and shook her hand, she rarely meets someone this polite. Then Min-So's mother stretched her hand towards Chris as well.

"Both of you are pretty."

"Ah! Thank you very much, you both, mother and daughter, are very beautiful as well."

Min-So wanted to translate, but Chris gestured to her with a smile that he understood the meaning and replied. Mrs. Kim also understood what Chris just said, so her face painted a big smile.

"Ready?"

"For what? Mrs. Kim?"

"Dinner party, Min— So he has invited you both, right?"

Grace and Chris looked at each other, seeing confusion in each other's eyes, in just two seconds they looked at Min-So together. Min-So folded her hands secretly as if telling them, "Please go on with this."

"Y…yeah, we are ready."

Grace herself didn't know why she agreed, but she couldn't refuse the kind duo in front of them. Chris looked abruptly surprised by her response, but he had to go along with her. Mrs. Kim even pointed at their small Hyundai car.

"Hyundai Best"

"You do not like Toyota."

"Japan Bad, Korea Good"

Chris couldn't help but smile at how enthusiastically proud she was about Korea, he sat in the back with Grace while Min-So and her mother sat in the front.

Shrugging her shoulder, she shared her location with the driver and texted him to wait for her by the school, she will be a little late, while Chris didn't have to text anyone, but he needs to go to the bank before it closes for the day.

"Mrs. Kim, can you please take the old coal mining route? I need to go to the bank."

Min-So had to translate that sentence for Chris. Mrs. Kim nodded her head in understanding and then turned the car towards the bank, while Chris texted Sean Parker, who is his personal banker.

Parking the car in the open parking lot, Mrs. Kim stepped out of the car as if to accompany Chris, Grace just laughed out loud, while Min-So had an embarrassed face, and Chris looked uncomfortably awkward.

"Mrs. Kim, I can go by myself, you can wait here."

"It's okay, I go."

She was not taking a no for an answer, on the contrary, she looked like she was supposed to go with him, like an adult guiding him in the real world. Before Chris could think of something more convincing to persuade her, she was already in the building door.

"You coming?"

"Y...Yes."

Damn! Asian moms are pushy, I have to convince Asian moms for peak convincing power. I am just letting you know.

Entering the bank before Chris could take a step, Mrs. Kim walked towards the help desk. It was Chris's good luck that Sean Parker was waiting for him just outside the counter.

"Sean"

"Mr. Harper, welcome. I have already prepared all the necessary papers for you. This is…?"

"She's new here from Korea, she would like to see the banking system here, a friend's mom."

"You a banker? Greed is not good."

Sean Parker was speechless at being judged by a random Korean woman, Chris smiled at him as if telling him, 'See what I have to deal with?'

"Yes, yes, ma'am, I am actually not greedy at all, I like to help people manage their finances."

"Finance is managed by his wife, Best, you will take his money only."

She was about to make the whole situation more awkward when Chris showed her a seat, which was at Sean's desk. She sat down, and when given coffee, the first thing she asked was if that was free or not.

"Ma'am, 100% free."

"Nothing is free, Chris is rich."

Chris was shocked at her wit, although she was sounding rude, but all she was saying was nothing but the truth, nothing really was free. He was depositing huge amounts of money and giving Sean a huge business before he was being treated this way.
