Chapter 155: The Diva Guild (Part 4)

"This is where the training rooms are, we're free to use them whenever. I usually go with this one," Remarked Aria, as she opened one of the doors in the wide corridor she was leading me through, a loud crash echoing out from inside the room.

Oh, looks like it's occupied.

I couldn't hear a thing outside the room, the walls and door must be soundproofed on the inside.

There was a woman inside, swinging a spear around...she looks kinda familiar.

"Hm? Oh, it's you, Ariella. Didn't you see the 'occupied' sign? You know it's dangerous to enter the training rooms if someone's already inside."

"Uh, it said 'vacant' though, you forgot to lock the door," Aria responded in bemusement, before subtly and nervously stepping in front of me.

There's a rectangular holographic display across the outside of the door. I see, when you lock these doors from the inside, this display displays the word 'occupied', and 'vacant' if it's unlocked.

What's with Aria's reaction, though? She's really tensed up.

"Ah, my mistake, sorry about that, I-...hm?" The woman trailed off with a frown, narrowing her eyes at me.

Wait, I think she's another of the Diva Guild's Aces. I don't remember her name, but I recognize her face from some ads.

Based on the hue of her Aura, a vibrant green, she's a Wind Mage. Let's have a look with Apprais-...

"You...what the hell are you doing here?!" She snapped, glaring at me spitefully.

Uh...what did I do? I've never met her before.

"H-Hey, calm down, he's-...," Began Aria, before trailing off as the woman suddenly shot towards me, firing out a burst of wind from her feet to launch herself forward.

"<Command: Get On Your Knees>," I swiftly chanted, her eyes widening as she came to an abrupt halt before collapsing onto her knees, gritting her teeth as she tried to resist the effect.

Now, Appraisal:

Impressive physical stats for a Mage, but since Mages don't have any Skills, including passive resistances, they're a lot more susceptible to debuffs than Combatants are.

Their lower physical capabilities aside, the lack of resistances is another major reason why Mages typically don't fight on the front lines.

She had shortish hair with the sides shaved off, pushed back and dyed green, a similar color to her Aura.

She had light blue eyes, a fair complexion and a strong, agile build, with a curvy figure. She wore green lipstick and had a nose ring in her left nostril, and she was wearing a white tank top and knee-length black trousers.

More importantly, she just tried to attack me.

I did expect a few members of the Guild to be against me joining, but I didn't think any of them would straight up-...huh?

My eyes widened as she suddenly broke free of Command, letting out an enraged yell before drawing her arm back, wind swirling intensely around her spear.

With no Status Effect Resistance Skill, and the fact that her physical stats are lower than mine, this means she broke free through sheer willpower.

The hell did I do to make her hate me so much?! I've never even met her before!

I swiftly stepped forward and in front of Aria as Keira hurled her spear towards me like a javelin, a burst of wind erupting from the bottom of the handle to shoot the weapon forward with more force.

I drew Desecrator out of Treasury and swung it across as the spear closed in on me, a sharp clang ringing out as I struck the blade of her spear with mine, shattering it upon impact.

My gaze shifted up as she flew up, wind swirling around her as she glared fiercely down at me, charging up wind between her hands, compressing it intensely.

"Hey, stop that, Keira! What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Snapped Aria angrily, pulling me back and stepping in front of me.

"Get out of the way, Ariella!" She shot back, before taking aim at me as she began to chant, "[Piercing W-...]...!"

As I began to manifest Drain with a grimace, I was interrupted as a figure suddenly appeared in the air next to Keira, grabbing her arm before the two of them vanished, reappearing below.

"That'll be quite enough of that. Calm down, Keira."

"Guildmaster! Great timing," Aria sighed in relief.

"I felt a bit paranoid, so I was watching you two through the security cameras in the building. And I'm glad I did," Remarked Isla, before glaring at Keira furiously, the wind she was charging between her hands dissipating.

"Tch..."

"Don't you click your tongue at me! Not after you just tried to assault a fellow member of the Guild!"

"I-...! Huh? What...what do you mean?" She responded in horror.

"He's the newest member of the Diva Guild, but that's beside the point. For starters, please apologize, you can't just attack people out of the blue like that," Isla sighed in exasperation.

"No way am I apologizing to that piece of shit!"

"Uh, sorry, but...what exactly is your problem with me? Pretty sure this is the first time we've met," I responded incredulously.

"Grr...!"

"So, uh, remember Kelsey, your first opponent in the HCC?" Chimed in Aria.

"Yeah...?"

"Keira is her girlfriend. And she wasn't happy about how that fight turned out."

Ah. So, that's what it was.

"You dirty bastard! You made a big show of revealing your true power at the tournament, and you humiliated her in the process! You'll pay for that!"

"Yeah, in hindsight, that was pretty unfair to her, she did end up blindsided since she had no way of knowing that I was stronger than my registered rank.

I acknowledge that. That said, you were straight-up trying to kill me just now, seems like a bit of an overreaction," I replied in bemusement.

"I'm gonna kick your ass, damn it!" She yelled, before Isla grabbed her arm and pulled her back.

"You'll do no such thing," She responded dryly.

"Then, let me challenge him to a duel! It'll be fine then, right?!"

"What is wrong with you?" Frowned Isla in exasperation.

"Actually...I don't mind indulging her request. How about a little wager? If I win, you'll swear to never attack me again...I'd rather not have to be constantly looking over my shoulder every time I'm in the Guild, not to mention on raids," I suggested, as I cracked my knuckles.

"Fine! And if I win, you'll leave the Guild and never show your face around here again!"

"Deal."
