I raised the jaws of Drain in front of myself as a barrage of streaky lightning blasts came shooting towards me, before shifting my gaze up as the Monster, a Lightning Wyvern, zipped up and rapidly swooped down towards me, driving the claws on its foot towards my head, lightning crackling around them.
I leapt forward at the last second, slipping behind it as its feet hit the ground, a sharp sizzle ringing out as the lightning coating its claws charred the fleshy ground.
The fifth type of Wyvern, Lightning Wyverns.
It was covered in dark blue scales that had a slight electric glow to them, and mostly looked pretty similar to a Fire Wyvern besides that, except that its wings were a bit more sleek and narrow, its body a touch more slender too.
As the large Monster began to spin around, I took aim and fired out a piercing beam of Negative Energy towards it, hitting its left eye and eliciting a sharp roar of pain from it, blood streaming down the side of its face as it furiously turned around and swung its wings forward, driving the claws at the end of the wings towards me.
I leapt up as its wings closed in on me, landing on the top of its right wing before jumping straight forward, my feet thudding against its snout before I I swiftly sprang over its head and landed on its back as it began to try and claw me off.
It stiffened up as I jammed my blade into the back of its neck, before rapidly sprinting down its back, dragging my blade across its flesh, sprays of blood bursting out as it roared in pain.
I leapt off its back as I reached the base of its tail, manifesting and extending out Devour before chomping through that spot, a wet thud ringing out as I severed its tail, which plummeted and crashed onto the ground.
The Lightning Wyvern snarled as it spun around and snapped its jaws open, an immense mass of concentrated lightning charging up inside its mouth.
I swiftly flung Desecrator with a sharp flick of my wrist, hurling it towards the Monster's open mouth with a rapid spin. The blade zipped into the Monster's mouth, the lightning fading as it snarled in pain, trails of blood trickling down the sides of its jaws, before I lunged forward and slammed my palm onto its torso, its body stiffening up sharply as I unleashed a few consecutive blasts of Mana Pulse.
Several spots across its scales ruptured as it shuddered violently in agony, starting to back away and get some distance from me, before I chanted...
"<Return>."
The Monster froze before clawing at its throat with a sharp gasp, a lump appearing over the middle of its neck, extending rapidly before erupting, my blade coming shooting out of the Wyvern's throat, before I caught it with a grimace, the entire weapon covered in blood and mucus.
O-Okay, uh, I might not have thought this through. Well, at least it was effective.
The Monster collapsed onto the ground as blood gushed out of the ruptured hole in its neck, its eyes slowly fluttering shut before it went limp and slumped down.
Hm, just two more left on this floor, let's see if the others need any help...
I glanced towards Aria, who was fighting a Water Wyvern. She ducked as it fired out a blast of water at her, before racing forward with immense speed, leaping towards it as it began to fly up as she closed in on it.
She grabbed the end of its tail before it could fly out of her reach, raising her right hand and firing out a pressurized burst of Negative Energy, which hit the bottom of the Monster's lower jaw, dazing the large creature.
She tightened her grip on its tail as she took hold of it with her other hand too, before letting out a yell of exertion as she swung her arms down, yanking the Water Wyvern down and slamming it onto the ground, its back slamming against the fleshy surface, chunks of the ground flying out upon impact.
Flames erupted around her right arm as she leapt onto the Monster's stomach and shot towards its head, the flames intensifying sharply and taking shape, narrowing at the end.
She unleashed a concentrated burst of Negative Energy from her left hand as the Monster swiped the claws at the end of its right wing towards her, blowing it away before leaping over the swing of its left wing.
She lunged forward as the Wyvern began to get back up, a torrential mass of swirling water between its jaws, before she drove her fist forward with immense force...
"[Super Accel Flame Lance]!"
She slammed her fist onto the bottom of the Monster's lower jaw, snapping its mouth shut as a sharp sizzle rang out, the concentrated heat boring in before the top of the Wyvern's head suddenly burst open, the Monster going limp as smoke billowed out of its ruptured skull.
As she hopped off the Wyvern's corpse, a chain of consecutive explosions rang out, as Ciel finished off the last remaining Wyvern on this floor, a Frost Wyvern.
Nice, another floor cleared without issue, and now, the end is in sight.
We encountered groups of three to five Wyverns up to the hundred and fifteenth floor, and then groups of six to eight over the next fifteen.
We were currently on the hundred and thirty-fifth floor, and over the last five floors including this one, we've been running into groups of nine to twelve Wyverns.
Aria and I have been handling ourselves without much trouble, but the others are definitely starting to struggle now.
Isla's been very active with her Teleport Spells over these last few floors, particularly on Ciel, and as well as on the Monsters.
"Alright, looks like it's high time I bring them out...<Emerge, Apostles of Lust and Envy: Luxuria and Invidia>," I chanted, the two of them appearing before me.
"Hm? Oh, I forgot about that...wait, why'd you wait this long to summon them?" Frowned Rex, a worn out look on his face.
"I mean, I asked you guys after the hundred and thirtieth floor, but Ciel said not to and you didn't say anything," I reminded him.
"Huh? I don't remember that."
Guess he was spacing out.
"Yeah, sorry...I noticed that you weren't paying attention, and I figured we could still handle it. But I definitely had a few close calls on the last few floors, so some extra help would be helpless," Added Ciel sheepishly.
"Alright, you two. I'll be counting on you," I said to my Apostles, who bowed their heads in response.
"<Got it, Boss>!"
"<I won't let you down, Master>."
