"Alright, I just sensed them, twelve Critical Level Monsters, seventy-five meters ahead," The Detector informed us, as we made our way through the final floor of the Dungeon.
Once we kill the next group of Wyverns and clear this floor, all that's left to tackle is the Boss Room.
"Got it, thanks. Let's go with the same tactics, Aria and I will each fight by ourselves, Rex and Ciel will team up, and you two will continue to work as a pair too," I remarked, as I nodded at my Apostles of Sin, before adding as I glanced at Isla, "And I'd like you to continue using your Teleport Spells to keep the rest of the Monsters busy until we've dealt with the ones we first engage with, as you've been doing."
"In other words, we all just keep doing exactly what we've been doing over these last dozen or so floors. Could've just said that, you know," Grinned Aria teasingly.
"Yeah, I know. Just figured I'd be as clear as possible, since we're all pretty mentally spent at this point. No harm in stating the obvious, just in case," I replied wryly.
With Rex spacing out every now and then, and Ciel getting all amped up and frenzied off her own Magic, I feel like the sensible thing to do is keep reminding them.
Well, Rex is pretty focused during battle, so I'm not too worried about him on that front. Even though his Magic makes him untouchable, he's far from complacent.
Ciel, on the other hand, gets way too carried away in the heat of battle, especially the more explosions she unleashes. She gets complete tunnel vision and only thinks about blowing stuff up.
Anyway, as we continued heading forward, with the Detector speaking up every ten meters as we steadily drew closer to the area where she was sensing the Monsters in, they soon came into sight, Wyverns of all five varieties, twelve in total.
Three each of Wind and Frost Wyverns, and two apiece among the Fire, Water and Lightning Wyverns. As they took notice of us, several threatening roars and snarls rang out, before they shot towards us.
Keira and the Fire Mage kept them at bay with a flurry of blasts, their Spells enhanced by Damien's Enchantments, before all of us in the front line shot forward, targeting a few of the Wyverns.
Eight of the twelve Wyverns suddenly began getting teleported around the same spot, randomly reappearing across that area and swapping positions with each other, as Isla kept them from approaching.
I shot towards one of the Wind Wyverns, getting low and sliding forward across the ground as it unleashed a pressurized blast at me from its mouth, evading the attack before whipping my arm across and firing off as a rapid, slashing wave of Negative Energy.
A gash appeared across the front of its chest as my attack struck it before it could react, trickles of blood seeping out through its scales...hm, not deep enough, my Negative Energy attacks could definitely stand to pack a lot more force.
I don't have the luxury of experimenting here though, Isla can't keep the other Wyverns at bay forever, so I should hurry and take this one out, lighten her load a bit.
"<Command: Don't Move>," I chanted as I raced forward and closed in on the Monster, launching myself up with a pressurized burst of Negative Energy from the bottom of my feet.
I chanted to manifest Void as I reached the peak of my jump, about a meter above the top of its head, moving the black hole towards its head.
I swiftly deactivated it as I began to plummet, an eruption of blood bursting out as I tore out a sizeable chunk of the Wyvern's skull and brain, killing it instantly.
Isla stopped teleporting one of the other eight Wyverns, a Frost Wyvern, which let out a frustrated snarl and began to charge towards Ciel and Rex.
"<Command: Get Over Here>!" I quickly chanting, forcing it to shift its attention toward me.
It flew up and shot towards me through the air, snapping open its jaws and unleashing a devastating wave of freezing, frosty air.
I chanted to manifest Drain in front of myself, the ground on either side of me getting frozen solid as I swallowed up the rest, before triggering Lethargy as the Monster swooped down towards me, disorienting it.
I rapidly extended out several tendrils of Negative Energy, wrapping around its legs and wings before yanking the tendrils down and pulling the Monster towards the ground.
I dissipated all the tendrils except for the one around its left wing, unwinding it before sharpening the end and jamming it into the Wyvern's shoulder, rapidly contracting the tendrils, effectively using it as a grappling hook to pull myself up towards the Monster with immense speed.
It snarled as it snapped open its jaws, unleashing a fierce blast of frost towards me as I manifested Devour and Drain, swallowing up the blast with Drain before chomping off the end of its right wing with Devour as it swung at me, a roar of pain ringing.
As I landed on its shoulder, meeting the gaze of its left eye, I rapidly extended out another tendril of Negative Energy and plunged it into the Monster's eye, a deafening howl ringing out as I forced the tendril in deeper, before branching it out into dozens of shadowy spikes as I pierced into its brain.
A violent shudder erupted across its body before it went limp, blood pouring out of its nostrils, before I hopped off its shoulder as it began to plummet, hitting the ground with a wet, fleshy crash.
Nice, looks like Aria's taken down two as well, Invidia and Luxuria seem to be finishing off their second, and Rex and Ciel appear to be in the middle of fighting their second Wyvern on this floor.
We're almost two thirds of the way done with the Monsters on this floor, let's keep it up...
