"W-Woah...I sense a Monster, i-it's unlike anything I've ever sensed before, th-this is overwhelming," Stuttered the Detector shakily, stepping back.
Her face was pale, and she was visibly afraid and shaken. We were making our way through the tunnel leading to the Boss Room, maybe about halfway through the steep, winding path.
"Hm...if it's too much to handle, you can hang back," I suggested, after a brief pause.
With the confirmation of the Dungeon Boss, there's no longer any need for detection, so we don't really need her to stick with us. It's tough to word that in a way that doesn't sound insulting though, so I didn't say it.
"N-No, it's okay. I'll just bolt if things go sideways," She replied with a shake of her head.
"Alright, if you're sure."
"I'd like to hang back, if that's an open offer," Chimed in Rex.
"Sorry, but it isn't. With your Magic, it doesn't matter how strong the threat is, you should be able to land at least a few blows even if you're outmatched," I pointed out.
I decided to switch up our formation before entering the Boss Room.
Aria, Rex and I were upfront, along with Luxuria and Invidia, while I'd moved Ciel back to the mid row.
She's not strong enough at close-range against a Calamity Level, but her explosions are bound to still be pretty effective.
Isla and Keira were also in the mid row, while I moved the Fire Mage to the back line and instructed her to focus on protecting Sera, Damien and the Detector.
And I was also having the back line stay a bit further back.
Considering that we're up against a Calamity Level Monster, we can't be too careful.
Might as well take every precaution we can.
Naturally, Aria and I will be going all out...something we haven't done since the battle against Zeifas.
Alright, the end of the tunnel is in sight, this is it. I took a deep breath and exhaled slowly to compose myself, easing my nerves as I stepped out into the Boss Room, which looked a bit different to the rest of the Dungeon.
It was still a disgusting, fleshy nightmare, but that wasn't all...there were rows of large, curved white pillars by the walls on either side of the room, extending up to the ceiling.
It almost looks like a giant ribcage.
And then, the Monster...the color of its scales resemble the Lightning Wyverns, so it must be a Lightning Dragon.
It was laying on the ground, staring at us nonchalantly, a lazy, relaxed look on its face.
It was more than twice the size of the Wyverns, and its wings were on its back, unlike the Wyverns, their wings were positioned where arms-...or front legs...-would be.
Good thing it isn't a Fire Dragon, those are apparently immune to flame attacks, meaning Aria's attacks would be less effective.
This one must be immune to lightning attacks, but since none of us use lightning, we-...
"Greetings, humans," The Dragon suddenly spoke, as it sat up and yawned.
Its voice sounds masculine, so I'll assume it's male. His mouth didn't move, his voice echoed directly into our heads, the tone sounding kinda lethargic.
It's just like Luxuria told us, Dragons communicate telepathically. But...
"So, Dragons really can communicate. I thought they were supposed to be too prideful to communicate with humans, though," Frowned Isla warily.
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.
"Yes, that's true, but I am something of a unique case," Responded the Dragon, as he yawned again.
He's got sharp hearing too.
"<M-Master, this isn't good...that's another of the Demon Lord's Generals, the Sixth Seat, Lightning Dragon Raixel. But he's not exactly a normal Dragon...he's actually a Greater Demon on the inside.
He wields a Personalis Arma that lets him swap bodies with anyone, he took over the body of a Lightning Dragon and became one of the Demon Lord's Generals. It's said that even the Demon Lord himself fears the ability of his Personalis Arma>," Remarked Luxuria with a tense look on his face.
"Hm? What are you? You look like a Greater Demon, except that you are glowing," Responded Raixel curiously.
"You seem awfully laidback, all things considered," I remarked, as I drew out Desecrator, a look of surprise appearing on his face.
"Well, now, that is a Personalis Arma, how unexpected. The only one unaccounted for was the one wielded by that woman who could control Black Brambles.
Obviously, you must have defeated her and claimed it for yourself, but...how exactly is it that a human is able to wield it at all?" He inquired in fascination.
"You realize we didn't come here to chat, don't you?" Replied Aria, looking a bit perplexed.
Looks like we're all caught off-guard by the lax attitude of this Calamity Level Threat, I certainly wasn't expecting this.
"Oh, we can get to killing each other in a moment. I see no reason to rush into it. It has been centuries since I last spoke with humans, your kind has always fascinated me, I thought it was a shame that we killed all the ones in our world.
That strange glowing Greater Demon there already mentioned my name, but allow me to properly introduce myself.
I hold the Sixth Seat among the Demon Lord's Generals, I am the Lightning Dragon Raixel. Hm...yes, this feels redundant, thanks to you, oddly-glowing Greater Demon," He sighed, looking a bit disappointed.
This is starting to throw me off. But I say we let him keep talking, we might be able get some useful info out of him before he decided to start fighting.
"Alright, fine, I suppose we've got nothing to lose by humoring you. Go ahead," I remarked, as I sheathed my blade.
"Ah, how sensible of you, human. Yes, considering that you will all die soon, you might as well delay the inevitable for as long as possible. Now, then, I believe this form should be more convenient to converse in," He responded, before he suddenly began to shrink down, his body changing shape...
