Chapter 251: Calamity Level Dungeon (Part 9)

A sharp roar rang out as I tore off a chunk of a Fire Wyvern's right shoulder with Devour, narrowly missing the side of its neck as it twisted its body across at the last second, before I used Command to freeze it in place as I hopped onto the top of its head.

I drove Desecrator down with a swift, twisting thrust, piercing through its skull and plunging into its brain, the Monster seizing up sharply in agony, before its wings slumped down as I yanked the blade back out, jumping off its head as it began to collapse.

I think that should be the last Wyvern I fight in this Dungeon, unless any of the others need any help.

Let's have a look...

Nice, looks like Aria's done too, without so much as a scratch on her. Neither of us have used any of our Power Boosts so far, we simply haven't needed to.

We've both grown to the point where we can breeze through multiple Critical Level Threats, do all X-Aces have it this easy?

As much as we've improved, there are still a few Hunters who are a lot more powerful than we are, after all.

I then glanced at Luxuria and Invidia, who were fighting a Lightning Wyvern, as Luxuria severely disoriented the Monster, firing a blast of Negative Energy at it before it snarled and shakily swung its right wing at her.

She sprang back to evade the slash of its claws, the Monster snapping its jaws open and charging up an intense mass of lightning, before a wave of frost suddenly burst down towards it from above, a layer of ice forming over its scales as the Monsters shuddered, trembling from the bone-chilling cold, as Invidia came into sight above it, a smirk on his face.

Ah, he must have used Pilfer on a Frost Wyvern, and then used Stealth to hit the Lightning Wyvern with that frost breath attack unnoticed, nicely done.

Well, for all his flaws back when he was alive, he was still an Ace Hunter with almost a decade worth of experience.

And it looks like Ciel and Rex just finished off the last one...and with that, every Monster in this Dungeon, besides the Dungeon Boss, has been eliminated.

We're a few hours short of forty-eight hours at this point, I'd say that's pretty decent progress, given the size of this Dungeon.

We've had no serious injuries so far, I've honestly been a bit surprised by how easy this has been, considering that it's a Calamity Level Dungeon.

Of course, that wouldn't have been the case if Aria and I hadn't gotten those significant boosts in our fight against the Archdemon Zeifas, but still, I expected this to be much more of a challenge.

Well, maybe I'm speaking too soon, we aren't done yet. There's no telling exactly how dangerous the Dungeon Boss is going to be.

The two Archdemons I faced, while both had similar Power Levels, Zeifas was definitely a cut above the other one.

I can't assess a threat based on Power Level alone, it's far from that simple, and could easily end up being a fatal mistake.

"Great work, everyone. Let's take one final break before we tackle the Dungeon Boss, make sure we're as fresh as possible.

By all accounts, it's bound to be a Calamity Level Monster, most likely a Dragon, so there's no sense in rushing into this," I remarked, as I manifested a few copies of a blanket and spread them out over the ground.

The others gathered and took a seat, everyone looking pretty worn out.

Having an Enchanter really speeds up these long raids, since we don't have to worry about stamina.

Without an Enchanter, we'd need a lot more breaks and move at a slower pace to conserve energy.

I'd be fine, of course, thanks to Desecrator, but the same doesn't go for the rest of the party.

"I can't wait to get out of this place. This terrain is seriously nasty," Frowned the Fire Mage, scrunching up her nose a bit.

"Doubt anyone disagrees with that notion," Responded Aria with a wry smile.

"I think it's fitting...it's a representation of being in the belly of the beast, so to speak. And is that not an accurate way to describe the Dungeons?" Chimed in Damien, as he stared up at the ceiling.

"I'm trying not to think about it, but I can't help but wonder, what exactly is it? Is it real flesh? Is it alive? It's warm and it isn't rotting, and it kinda convulses when damage is done to it, so maybe?

Not to mention, the Monsters have clearly been eating parts of it. And what kind of flesh is it, anyway? A Monster's? Or maybe...human?" Frowned Sera, as she poked at the ground with her staff.

"Whatever it is, I get the feeling that we're probably better off not knowing," Responded Isla with a grimace.

"Yeah, I'm just going to assume that it's fake flesh. Highly convincing, but fake nonetheless," Stated Rex, as he stifled a yawn.

"Don't suppose you know anything about it, Luxuria?" I asked her.

"<Hm? Sorry, no clue, Master. I don't know anything about the Dungeons besides everything I've already told you>," She responded with a shake of her head.

"What would happen if we dug all the way through? Is there nothing but a layer of flesh between each floor? Or is the layer of flesh coating a more concrete or stone structure?" Mused Aria curiously.

"I mean, I guess I could use Devour and find out. But considering how long and steep the tunnels leading to and from each floor are, It's probably several meters worth of flesh that I'd need to eat through.

Well, I suppose it's worth a try at least, might as well give it a go on our way back. Let's set that aside for now, we've got a more immediate concern ahead of us, after all.

It won't be much longer before we take on the Dungeon Boss, make sure to take this time to mentally prepare yourselves for that, everyone."
