Chapter 295: X-Ace Clash (Part 13)

"It's too bad I couldn't win, but I suppose a draw is better than losing two out of two," Mused Jin, slumped back in his seat as the participants of the next match, Jaden and Aarav, stepped onto the arena.

The door then opened, Iseul stepping in with a bottle of vodka in hand.

Jin only had the cut on his left forearm to heal, so he'd returned to the waiting room pretty quickly, but Iseul had sustained a fair bit of damage, the side of her right arm got absolutely torn apart.

"You're going to keep drinking? Aren't you worried you'll mess up your health?" Aria asked her.

"Hm? Wai', so, like...you mean you, like, don't know and shtuff? Shinsh our bodiesh are shtronger, we can drink lotsh more than normal people and be, like, totally fine. And we gotta shupresh our nashural healing to get properly drumk," Explained Iseul, before taking a swig from the bottle.

I already knew about that last part, I noticed after Aria and I powered up following our fight against the Archdemon Zeifas...we needed to suppress both our Super Regeneration and our bodies' natural healing factors in order to get drunk or high.

If Super Regeneration isn't suppressed, we just stay sober, and if we don't suppress our natural healing, we'll sober up in a couple of minutes or so.

As for the rest, it does make sense...Super Regeneration aside, the enhanced natural healing that comes with high HP and Vitality means that stuff like smoke damage to the throat and lungs, and liver damage from alcohol, fades in no time once we stop suppressing our healing.

In other words, we can indulge without worrying about side effects or negatively impacting our health...still, though, Iseul seems to be taking advantage of that to quite an extreme.

While it isn't easy to get chemically addicted to alcohol and other addictive substances at our physical level, you can still get addicted to stuff that aren't chemically addictive.

Like food and video games, for instance. We may be superhuman, but we are still very much human.

Anyway, moving on from that, looks like the next fight is about to start. The countdown's almost over, here we go...

Aarav wasted no time springing into action as the countdown ended, unleashing a barrage of bone bullets towards Jaden.

Jaden swiftly unleashed a couple of telekinetic shockwaves, blowing the bullets away, before whipping his right arm across and fired out a rapid slashing wave of telekinesis towards Aarav.

Aarav ducked under the slash, which sliced through the hair tie holding his manbun in place and severing a few strands of hair.

As his hair fell over his forehead and framed his face, Aarav fired out several small blood orbs towards Jaden, the orbs erupting into a thick red mist and Jaden tried to blast them away with a telekinetic shockwave.

Aarav raced forward as the blood mist spread out, before the mist abruptly got blown away as another shockwave erupted out.

He raised his hand towards Jaden, a bone spike extending out of his palm with immense speed, straight towards Jaden.

Jaden raised his index finger as the spike began to close in on him, firing out a piercing beam of telekinesis, the bone spike rupturing as the beam pierced straight through it, deep cracks spreading out across it, the spike splintering sharply before breaking apart and falling to pieces as the telekinetic beam drilled right through it.

Aarav detached the spike from his palm right in the nick of time, before whipping his staff across and fired out a rapid blood slash towards Jaden.

But it was no use, as Jaden blew away the slashing wave of blood with another telekinetic shockwave, Aarav stumbling back with a grimace.

Jaden has been rooted to the same spot this whole time, he hasn't taken a single step since the fight began...both of them are avoiding close-range, Jaden's likely wary of the attack Aarav used to defeat Beatriz, and Aarav must be aware of the fact that Jaden's most dangerous at close-range, where his attacks are effectively impossible to avoid.

But Aarav isn't going to win if he keeps this up...his attacks are powerful, but not enough to get through Jaden's defense, at least not at this distance.

So long as he has time to react, all Jaden needs to do is keep spamming shockwaves, he's been deflecting all incoming attacks from Aarav with ease so far.

Aarav's only chance to win is if he gets in close and uses the same attack he used against Beatriz, but even if he wanted to get closer...Jaden isn't just going to hang back and let him.

As Aarav raced around the arena while firing out volleys of blood and bone attacks, Jaden continued blowing them away with his shockwaves, before lifting his gaze as Aarav launched himself up into the air with bursts of blood from his feet, firing out a piercing beam of blood from his left hand and a flurry of bone bullets from his right index finger.

Jaden unleashed several consecutive shockwaves, blowing the bullets away, the blood beam losing more and more momentum with each burst, before falling apart.

As Aarav began to veer back through the air, Jaden swiftly raised his right hand towards him, Aarav's eyes widening in alarm as he got pulled down towards Jaden rapidly.

Suddenly, Jaden abruptly deactivated his Telekinetic Pull Spell, the whiplash from the sudden halt of force knocking Aarav off-balance, before a devastating shockwave with piercing bursts erupted out, the attack he'd used to blast me full of holes yesterday, the arena getting torn apart before Aarav vanished from sight as he got teleported out of the arena.

Huh, the look on Jaden's face, he looks genuinely disappointed...it's not simply about winning for him, what he's after is the thrill of a good fight.

He was in good spirits even after his loss to Aria and I yesterday and to me today, but he looks so down-in-the-dumps right now.

That was the most one-sided match of this event so far, though to be fair, it was a bad match-up for Aarav...with how muscular he is, he isn't particularly agile or fast, his stats corrobate as much, his build puts him at a disadvantage against someone like Jaden.

I don't think that matters to him though, he looks pretty frustrated.

Neither of them look the least bit happy about how this fight turned out...
