"You probably shouldn't drink too much before your next match, you know. While it's undeniable that you're at your best when drunk, that could easily backfire, considering your opponent," Jin advised Iseul, as she took a deep gulp from the bottle.
"It'sh totally okay...mever shay mever," She shrugged in response.
"Sorry, was that supposed to be 'never say never'? That...doesn't apply at all here," I replied in bemusement.
"Hm? Shorry, wha' were we talking about?" She slurred, before letting out another hiccup.
"I know it's probably not the smartest move to give my opponent advise before I fight her, but...my Magic can be pretty rough on people who are intoxicated, it gets real messy, with puke all over the place, and I don't wanna have to deal with that," Sighed Beatriz wearily.
We were currently in the middle of the second break in the event, with about fifteen minutes left to go before the next, and eighth, match.
Beatriz was set to take on Iseul, who was, uh...more than a little tipsy.
Probably won't be long before one of the event staff shows up to take her to the Healer and get her sobered up.
They've been polite and friendly to the rest of us, but they've very visibly been getting frustrated with Iseul, which, well...fair enough.
On another note, both Jaden and Aarav have been pretty quiet since coming back to the waiting room, Jaden's looking restless and impatient, probably waiting for his match against Aria, which'll be the last one of the event.
As for Aarav, he was kinda sulking while staring up at the ceiling, getting defeated so easily was probably a blow to his pride.
He's got one more match too, against me...he's probably going to come pretty hard at me to try and redeem himself after that one-sided defeat he suffered.
"Heh, the sheiling ish shpimming," Giggling Iseul, staring up at the ceiling.
"Uh...anyone else have any idea what she just said?" Responded Jin in bemusement.
"I think she said the ceiling the spinning," Replied Aria, as Iseul sat up unsteadily and let out a hiccup.
"Hm...I can't shtand."
"Yeah, no shit," Remarked Beatriz, before someone knocked on the door.
One of the event staff stepped in as he opened the door, looking around before glancing at Iseul.
"To prevent any further delays after the break, we'd like to get you sobered up right away, Miss Iseul."
"Hm...kay. But, like, not too mush, okay?"
The man approached her before giving her a hand, letting her lean on his shoulder before leading her out of the waiting room.
"She has a serious problem," Sighed Jin in exasperation.
"Well, I wouldn't judge too much...as extreme as her drinking is, there's gotta be some underlying cause, some sort of personal thing," Mused Beatriz thoughtfully.
"And, to be fair, I've definitely seen people who drink a lot more than she does...not that that's a good thing, of course," I added with a wry smile.
"Yeah, you can't really do much more than advise people on their bad habits, it's ultimately upto them to deal with it, or not deal with it. Even if they don't go with the best choice, it's their choice to make," Remarked Aria thoughtfully.
I agree with that, you've gotta let people live their own lives. The way I see it, you're free to live your life as your please, so long as you don't hurt others in the process.
Hm. Well, this just got very real and kinda depressing.
Too bad Aarav's busy sulking, one of his dumb jokes might be just what we need to lighten the mood.
"I suppose we should move past it. Whatever the case, I'm certainly intent on giving it my all in my next match," Declared Beatriz with a smile.
Seems she might have been thinking the same thing, her tone sounds almost intentionally upbeat.
"It should be an interesting battle...you're more powerful, but she's got that unpredictable element to her. Could go either way," I remarked thoughtfully.
"Mhm, should be fun to watch," Nodded Aria in agreement, Jaden's ears perking up slightly as he glanced this way.
"I suppose we'll find out soon enough," Added Jin, as he took a look at the time.
Sure enough, one of the event staff showed up a couple of minutes later to escort Beatriz to the arena, Iseul was probably being taken there directly from where the Healer and Enchanter were on standby.
I haven't needed any healing so far, so I wouldn't know who or where they are.
Anyway, we all turned our attention to the live stream as Iseul and Beatriz stepped onto the arena.
Iseul still looks pretty drunk, though definitely not as much as she did before, maybe a bit more inebriated than she was in her second match.
Beatriz prepared herself as the countdown began, her hand hovering by the handle of her weapon, while Iseul looked more carefree and at ease, a smile on her face.
Right as the countdown ended, Beatriz shot forward as Iseul casually drew out her weapons, spinning them around in her grasp with flicks of her wrists, before swaying off to her left as a blast of sound came shooting towards her, evading it before spinning around with a twirl and unleashed a rapid, crackling blast of lightning towards Beatriz.
Beatriz got low and leapt forward as the blast closed in on her, the lightning shooting over her mohawk before she propelled herself forward with a burst of sound from behind her feet, launching herself straight towards Iseul.
Iseul fired out a couple more lightning bolts, which Beatriz blocked with the flat of her blade, before raising her weapon up and swinging it down towards Iseul's head.
At the last second, Iseul fluidly veered out of the way, Beatriz's eyes widening in alarm as her blade struck the floor of the arena with a sharp, ringing clang, a dazed look appearing on Iseul's face before she spun her staff towards Beatriz with a flick of her wrist and blasted her right side with a bolt of lightning, sending her hurtling across to the left.
Her feet skidded across the arena as she managed to maintain her balance, before quickly ducking as another lightning bolt came shooting towards her, narrowly evading it as it shot past the top of her head...
