How...how is he so powerful?!

I assumed I would be able to toy with him got a while before using Warp Gate to bring him to the Demon Lord, but he completely overwhelmed me.

What was that attack he used, that disrupted the flow of my Mana so violently and caused such immense internal damage?

While my physical injuries healed as usual, the destabilization of my Mana persisted, I still have not fully recovered from the effect of that attack.

I do not understand...how could a human be so powerful?

Zeifas and Raixel, I simply assumed they were weaker than I thought, or got careless, when I heard that they were killed by the humans.

But they aren't the only individuals among the Archdemons and Dragons who have fallen at the hands of the humans, especially over the last year...I was mistaken about their kind, I clearly underestimated the humans.

Most of them may be weak, but evidently, there are individuals among them that pose a genuine threat to us.

The target aside, that female human with the red hair also seemed quite formidable.

And to make matters worse, the Demon Lord is not going to be pleased...my job was to bring the target to the castle, where the Demon Lord himself would incapacitate him.

I do not know why he wanted the target captured alive, but that human is dangerous. I believe we must kill him while we have the chance.

But the Demon Lord was quite clear in saying that he wants that human alive...I wonder, what kind of punishment will he have in store for me due to my failure?

I shudder to think of it, this is proving to be a rather terrible day for me.

A sense of dread gripped me as the castle came into sight, towering over the trees.

It was surrounded by tall walls, with a pair of large gates at the front. Two guards manned the outside of the gates, a couple of Greater Demons.

I sighed nervously, before I reluctantly swooped down and landed in front of the entrance, letting out a slow exhale in an effort to ease my nerves.

"Oh, General Fenelza, welcome back!" One of the guards greeted me with a bow.

"Er, yes, thank you," I nodded, before stepping in as they opened the gates.

I approached the castle, making my way up the stairs and to the front entrance, pushing the doors open and entering the building.

I shut the doors behind me, before heading through the long, wide corridor ahead of me, my sense of anxiety growing with every step.

As the doors to the throne room came into sight, I inadvertently slowed my pace, before clenching my fists as I came to a stop in front of the doors, my chest tightening.

I hesitantly raised my right hand, before clearing my throat and knocking on the door...

"M-My Lord, it is I, Fenelza, I've returned."

"You may enter," His voice echoed out from inside, before I pushed the doors inside and stepped into the throne room.

I kept my gaze low as I approached the throne, kneeling down on one knee as a came to a stop just ahead of the short flight of stairs leading up to the throne.

"Well, this is a surprise...I thought I told you to teleport the target straight here to the throne room, Fenelza. So, tell me...why did you enter through the doors, and alone?" He inquired, as I dared not meet his gaze.

"I-I...I just...," I stuttered, before taking a breath to compose myself, before continuing, "The target, he...he was a lot more powerful that I anticipated. I was thoroughly outmatched and defeated."

"I see. So, you failed your mission and retreated in disgrace?"

"N-No, I-...! Yes, I failed in warping him to you, my Lord, but...I did manage to bring him to our world! I just...I was left with no choice but to flee," I replied with a grimace.

"Hm? Explain. If you were able to warp him to this world, why did you not warp him here to the throne room?" He responded, as I felt his icy glare boring into the top of my head, my gaze fixed on the floor as I trembled.

"H-He...he used a strange attack, it disrupted the stability and flow of my Mana. I could barely exert any control over my Magic, so my Warp Gate was-..."

"I see...yes, some of the souls of the Monsters killed by him mentioned that, I believe they said he called it Mana Pulse. Where exactly did you warp him to?"

"S-Somewhere in the forest to the south, my Lord."

"Very well, then...I suppose we can call this a half-success. Alert the other Generals, issue a detailed physical description of the target, we shall hunt him down," He remarked, after a brief pause.

"I-If I may, my Lord..."

"Hm? What is it? You may speak."

"That human, he...he is incredibly powerful. If we split up and go after him, I fear he will simply cut us down, one by one. He possesses some sort of necromancy...Raixel was serving him, in a glowing undead form. Additionally, he has Demonic powers and physical features, he wields Negative Energy as well."

"Yes, I was already aware of those...that necromancy, it is quite dangerous, but given that he does not have an army of undead Monsters at his command, it clearly has limits.

As for the Demonic powers, it must have been the result of Zeifas's Demonic Art: Demonization, stabilized somehow. I believe there is another human with Demonic powers, did you encounter them?"

"I did, a female human with red hair. She only battled me briefly, but she was quite powerful as well. Her Aura was even more imposing than that of the target's."

"Hm...for now, we shall focus on locating and capturing the target. We lost a number of powerful individuals in this last wave of Dungeons, so I cannot deploy too many more of the strongest among our forces to the human world for a while. I shall continue attacking the human world, of course, but at present, my priority is capturing the target alive."
