Gotta say, great work, Ai. This map is seriously a gamechanger.
<Thanks, but I only collated the data you and others gathered, so I can't take all the credit for it>
Well, all that data would be pointless if we didn't have you to process and organize it, so you definitely deserve most of the credit for this.
It's been about a month since I ended up the world of the Monsters, and as planned, I've been laying low while gathering info.
It took about a full day of wandering through the forest before I finally found a good hiding spot, a small cave, with the entrance at the bottom of a cliff, hidden behind thick rows of overgrown shrubbery.
I got bedding and pillows through Treasury from Aria, we've been exchanging letters daily to keep in touch.
We settled on a specific time at which I'd send her a message, which also worked as a way of letting her know that I was safe.
I place the letters I write in Treasury at 11 PM every night, and then go to sleep. I read her responses in the morning, which lifts my spirits and helps me forget about my current predicament, even if just for a brief moment.
I've been able to keep track of the time through my I-Watch...most of its functionality is unavailable since, you know, there's no internet here, but I can at least use it as a regular watch.
During the day, the Apostles of Sin and I have been splitting up and exploring the area, we regroup in the evening shortly before sunset, and after I withdraw the Apostles, Ai uses whatever new geographical info they gathered to further detail and expand the map of this place.
Acedia and Luxuria have been especially useful since they can fly, I've been refraining from flying around since I need to lay low and can't afford to be spotted.
The two of them look like normal Monsters from a distance, especially during the day, when the sunlight helps mask the glow of their bodies, so even if they're spotted, it's unlikely that they'd rouse any suspicion.
It's pretty likely that the Monsters are looking for me, but so far, we haven't encountered any pursuers.
Maybe they assumed that I didn't stay in this forest? Or maybe they're just incompetent?
Well, whatever. Either way, I'm certainly not complaining.
On our side of things, thanks to our collective efforts, I now know where the Demon Lord's castle is, as well as the locations of several Monster settlements and territories.
I withdrew Luxuria about a week ago, once my communication routine with Aria was more or less settled.
And just that one extra set of eyes really made a difference, the rate at which our map expanded after Luxuria joined us increased pretty substantially.
This world isn't a globe, it's actually flat, and made up of five continents.
It's a lot smaller than Earth, but the gravity is pretty much the same, probably has something to do with the different shape.
Countries don't exist in this world anymore, borders were torn down after the humans-...and other non-Monster races like Elves and Dwarves...-were wiped out.
This world is known as Vos Keal, after a part of the Demon Lord's name, Vaszel Vos Kealfaos.
Demons, all the way from Lesser Demons upto Archdemons, usually have two names, but the Demon Lord has three.
Guess he wanted to add an extra name to emphasize that he stands above the rest.
The five continents include Xostra, at the center of Vos Keal, Vannaleth to the north, Urullach to the west, Brerronos to the south and Ornoth to the east.
I'd been warped to Xostra, somewhere around the mid-region of the continent. The Demon Lord's castle is located at the very center of the continent, and the forest I'd ended up in was about a couple dozen kilometers to the south of the castle.
We've mapped out around thirty percent of the continent so far, and the farther our we explore, the slower that progress will get.
But we don't need to map out the entire continent, it'd take way too long, we'll probably stop at around fifty to sixty percent.
According to Luxuria, almost every single Monster species has been evenly spread out across each continent, with multiple territories within each continent, to ensure their prolonged survival and growth...even if one territory dies out, due to disease or whatever, the species as a whole will still be fine.
So, yeah, I don't have to go around roaming this entire world, I should be able find all the Monsters I need within a few regions in Xostra, we've already identified and located the territories of several species.
And on that note...I was currently at a massive swamp, hiding up in the trees, with a large, murky lake below.
The water, along with the ground surrounding it, was teeming with scores of crocodilian Monsters.
They consisted of three species in their evolutionary cycle; Mid Level Caimanoids, High Level Two-Headed Alligators, and finally, Critical Level Cull Crocodiles.
I gain one point for both my MP and physical stats for every Critical Level I consume, and it looks like there are a good number of Cull Crocodiles down there.
With High Levels, I have to consume around a hundred for that same amount of return. As for the weaker Threat Levels, it'd take around three hundred and fifty Mid Levels, and about a thousand Low Levels.
So, I'll mainly focus on going after Critical Levels, and I'll use Devour on High Levels too.
With these Monsters I'm currently targeting, it looks like there are around a couple thousand in total, and a pretty tantalizing number of Critical Levels among them.
Normally, even at my level, the sheer number would be a problem...but given this terrain and conditions, this should be easy...
"Now, <Emerge, Apostle of Sloth: Acedia>," I chanted quietly, as I eyed the Monsters with a smirk...
