After hearing Weiss's proposal, all the villagers were surprised for a moment. But then they break out in cheer.
They had absolutely no wish to stay in this village where they could not even afford to eat a little bit of food. The only reason why they were still here was because they had nowhere else to go.
But if someone was willing of take them away from this hellish place, as long as they were able to eat something in the new place, they would have no regrets.
Actually villagers like these were the main targets of the slave traders. No one really cared about them too much, so if they were captured, as long as the slave traders were a little bit cautious, no one would try to find them.
After this conversation, the villagers were back. They needed to make preparations and tell their family about this matter before Weiss's return.
The low level apprentice knight named Terry who was something like a leader to these villagers, did not go with them. Instead he joined Weiss and Karl in the carriage.
This man was a soldiers of the noble of this area and was currently on the run. He was betrayed by his fellow soldiers when he had tried to stop them from fooling around in a village.
He was a man of quick wits and he also knew quite a bit about the noble here who was a viscount with the family name of Dicion. So this man would be a good subordinate to have even in the Ryco city.
...
After this incident the journey continued for Karl and Weiss. After about 5 more days of journey, they managed to reach the territory of Viscount Temu who was currently ill and was the lord of the Ryco city.
Just after one more day, Weiss would finally reach this city. She had already been away from the Souran territory for a week or so and for the first time in her life, she started to feel a little homesick.
This desire to return back to the Souran territory was not because she had suddenly became fond of that place. But instead because she missed the people who had shown genuine loyalty and affection toward her.
Obviously this was just a slight feeling and Weiss had no wish to end the outing quickly because of this. She was not even going to rush her tasks here as rushing them might produced bad results.
So even with this new feelings that she was experiencing for the first time, Weiss was perfectly focused on her tasks and goals.
As she was thinking about this matters, suddenly the carriage got attacked by bandits again for the second time on this journey.
And this time, just by looking at then, it was clear that these bandits were the real deal. They had proper equipments and most impressively even a horse.
The strongest among them was a high level apprentice knight and had a few more people who had practiced some kind of secret art. So this group was actually moderately strong.
But obviously, no matter how strong they were, as long as there was no knight among them, Karl alone was more than enough to take care of them.
This time, Weiss did not even need to step a single foot out of the carriage. Karl took care of all the bandits on his own.
And as he had learnt from Weiss last time, Karl kept a few of the people alive for interrogation and after that Weiss used her very impressive interrogation skills to extract everything that they knew.
Their base was located in a very remote area and going there would be a little detour. But from the size of the bandit group, Weiss guessed that these bandits had managed to collect a decent amount of wealth. So she decided to accept this little detour.
...
This time, the bandit hideout was a large hidden cave. The bandits had modified this cave heavily and had turned it into a very secured location with many traps to get rid of intruders.
This kind of security would make this place harder to conquer for others, but as both Weiss and Karl had very strong perception, they were able to avoid the traps extremely easily and were able to walk in this place without any hindrance.
There were srtill a few bandits left in the hideout but they soon turned into cold corpses under Weiss and Karl's weapons. So the conquest of the bandit hideout went extremely well and it ended in just a little over an hours time.
Last time when Weiss had gotten her hands in the treasures of the bandits, she needed to hide many of the things in the area and she was only able to take away the money. Later on, while returning with the freed slaves, she had taken all of the loot back to the village.
But this time, the carriage had more than enough to space to carry everything here. So Weiss did not need to hide anything and she was able to take everything away.
The bandits here did not have as many things as the previous bandits but they did have more coins than the others. So overall, the amount Weiss was able to earn this time was almost equivalent to the previous loot.
...
After this, Weiss's carriage finally reached the city of Ryco. Now their carriage had two horses instead of just one and the inside of the carriage was also filled with various kinds of items gotten from the loot.
That would have been a problem in any other city but here in Ryco, Karl was able to bypass every inspection using his position as one of the leaders of the Night Crow organisation.
By doing this, Karl also informed the whole city about his return. But as this was his usual style of doing things, everyone would find this to be perfectly normal.
Because of his name as the Bloody Ghost, he did have some infamous reputation in the city. But this reputation also gave him access to various information as many people did not want to get on his bad side and ruin his mood.
When the three people had entered the city, it was almost evening. So Karl brought the carriage to his house in the city and decided to go to the Night Crow the next day.
As for who Weiss and Terry were, Karl had introduced them as servants he had picked up on the road.
Knight had many special privileges in this world because of their extraordinary strength. So even if a knight did not have a noble title, they were still able to keep servants like one. So what Karl had done here was not something unusual.
Some of the people who knew Karl well might find it surprising that he was keeping servants and was not immediately killing them. But as people could change for various reasons, Karl could play it off by giving an excuse.
So after returning back to his house, Karl decided to have a good sleep. Even though the pressure on him had decreased by quite a bit with Weiss's presence here but still he needed to at least act like his previous murderous self from tomorrow onwards. So he really needed a good rest to calm his mind.
