Magus: Rise of the Darkness Empress

Chapter 59: Ch 59: Before the Start of the Expedition

Six days had passed without anything major happening and the expedition for the hunting of the Earth Overturning Great monster would start the very next day.

During the last six days, Weiss had managed to go through almost all the information that she had available and had managed to find one ancient family that was very interesting.

Weiss was almost 90 percent certain that this particular family had some connection with a magus. As for how she was so sure about this matter, that was because of her knowledge about something that only a person from the magus world should know about.

Jonus had mentioned in his notebook that there were regular people in the magus world too. And some of the generous magi had invented various things that were helpful for these regular mortal people.

One such item was "Spring of Longevity". This was a special kind of water that could keep even old people healthy and increase someone's lifespan by about 5 to 10 years.

This sounded like a miraculous item but it was very common in the magus world. Even a slightly rich businessman was capable of buying it with a little bit of gold.

So the family that Weiss had found interesting had many members that had lived until the ripe old age of 90. The number of people with age in the triple digits were not low either.

Most surprisingly, quite a few among those long living people were not even knights. They were just regular humans.

There was a slight possibility that all the members of this family had good genetics that gave them a long lifespan. But Weiss noticed that some people who had joined the family and were not from that family's bloodline also enjoyed this longer lifespan.

From this clue, Weiss became very sure that this ancient family definitely had some connections with the magus world and this connection was good enough to even get some items from there.

The name of this family was Mytria family. But meeting them was not going to be easy. They lived quite a bit away from the Brightshine kingdom and going to them would probably take months even for a knight.

Not just that but there was no guarantee that they would be willing to send Weiss to the magus world if she just went to them. So she needed to be very careful before making a decision.

But this was a good development for Weiss. This family at least gave Weiss some hope because if what she had thought was true, then the magus world had not abandoned this manaless world and were still connected to it.

Also Weiss had another plan in her mind to contact this family. With how much details the Seven Heroes Conclave had about them, it made sense that they had a way to contact someone from the Mytria family.

So she could use the Seven Heroes Conclave as a middleman to get in touch with this family. Still to work with something as mysterious as the Seven Heroes Conclave, Weiss wanted to be a grand knight at the very least.

This made the importance of the Earth Overturning Great monster materials even more. If she could get her hands on these materials, then Weiss was confident in reaching the realm of a grand knight in less than a decade.

So, for this reason, Weiss had went all out in preparing for this expedition. She had also trained very hard on the last few days and she had even came up with two new knight special technique which would be useful in this mission.

Her luck had also been extremely good for these few days. One of the biggest worry of hers had solved itself without her doing anything.

The Night Crow were not planning to send Karl for this mission just as Weiss had expected. But just three days ago, the count himself had asked for Karl to join him in this expedition.

It looked like Count Falgur was very satisfied with the amount of information that Karl had managed to bring. So he wanted to have him in this important mission too.

Weiss was not sure if that was true or not but she did not care. No matter what the count was actually thinking, Karl being in the expedition was a good thing for her.

Weiss had also meet with Feberend two days ago and had a discussion about how they were going to co-operate.

None of the high level apprentice knights taking this mission were fools. They never trusted the count and they knew that there was a possibility that the count was paying them so well only because he had some nefarious plan in mind.

So they were already ready to run away if they saw any signs of trouble. Obviously it was hard to run away when there were more than 10 official knights but still, with everyone working together, it should be possible to escape sucessfully.

So far, Weiss was satisfied with her preparations. The only worry that she had was about the strength of the count.

As he was a high level knight, Weiss was not sure how strong he exactly was. And even now, Weiss was still far away from reaching the realm of a high level knight.

As for the other low and mid level knights joining the expedition, Weiss was confident in defeating them.

It was not just baseless confident as she had researched the mid level knights and had created techniques that were hard counters for them specifically.

So Weiss was going all out in order to get her hands on the materials from the Earth Overturning Great monster. So if her luck suddenly did not leave her, then everything was going extremely well for her.

...

In the Souran territory, at the outskirts of the village, Ganz was living there all alone. Even though he was also a member of the Shadeshifters Company, as he had co-operated very obediently in saving the slaves, Weiss had given him a second chance.

But still, the freed slaves were not very fond of him for obvious reasons. That was why he was living in this location where there was very little chance of him meeting any of them.

Was Ganz unhappy with this new life of his ? As he had lived his whole life in a city, obviously this remote location was not very suitable for his taste. But surprisingly enough, he was not unhappy here at all.

The old villagers of the Souran village did not dislike Ganz as much as the new ones so they treated him relatively well. And he was able to eat meat everyday here, which was actually better than when he was in the city.

And most importantly, even though Weiss had not gotten rid of his poison to make sure he could not run away, she had actually given him some advice about his training.

So now, there was a very slight but very real possibility that even he might be able to reach the realm of an official knight.

So he was not unhappy with his current situation at all and thanked Weiss in his heart for her generosity of not killing him. At that same time, he started thinking about what she could be doing at this moment. He had no idea that his mistress was about to go hunting for a legendary monster.
