Magus: Rise of the Darkness Empress

Chapter 60: Ch 60: Start of the Expedition

On the day of the beginning of the expedition, Weiss appered in the training ground located just beside the mansion of Count Falgur in the Ryco city.

This mansion was definitely smaller than his mansion in the city of Fal but it was still bigger than most other buildings of the city.

After entering the training ground, Weiss saw that other than the three high level knight apprentices that she was familiar with, there were 15 more people who were also giving off the aura of a high level knight apprentice.

It looked like there were a lot of people who were willing to take the risk for the large sum of money that the count was paying.

As for the official knights participating in the expedition, none of them were here. They were being entertained inside the mansion of the count and Karl was also there.

In this expedition, Karl had a very serious but easy task. And that was to listen to what the other knights were discussing and tell Weiss about that.

This would be a very easy task for most people but for someone as careless as Karl, it was actually something that he needed to focus in order to not mess up.

As for how Weiss and Karl were planning to contact each other, it would be Weiss's task.

Karl was good at detecting presence but was terrible at hiding his own. So Weiss would be in charge of sneaking around and meeting him in secret.

As Weiss was again making sure in her mind that she had not overlooked anything major, she was also observing the other high level apprentice knights here. And to her surprise, Weiss actually found two other females among them.

A female knight who was not already part of a noble family was very rare. And it looked the the two other ladies also thought the same. So they approached Weiss with a friendly smile on their faces.

One of the ladies looked very mature with a seductive kind of beauty. Even though her breasts and hips were not extremely large, they were big enough to attract attention from the men.

Her light brown eyes and deep brown hair also made her to look kind and gentle. Overall, she did not give off the vibe of a knight at all. But there was no mistake about her strength as she was very clearly giving off the aura of a high level apprentice knight.

As for the other lady, she was considerably younger, in her early to mid twenties. She was nowhere near as beautiful as the other lady and her body was also also somewhat flat. But still she had a cute face which made her to look adorable to many.

As both of them greeted Weiss, she also greeted them back. The mature lady introduced herself as Peria and the cute lady was named Eve.

Both of them were also members of the Seven Heroes Conclave in a different city located nearby and had taken this task from there.

As all of them were famales, they felt more comfortable in being around one another. Not just that but Weiss also had a very leader like presence that the two ladies unconsciously preferred. So they decided to stay near her.

Weiss was fine with it. She was actually enjoying the conversation with the female knight who was much older than her.

The other lady was not talking much but she was a good listener. So all three of them were getting along quite well.

Feberend took this opportunity to introduce himself and the other two partner of his to the ladies. But he did not reveal his plan for escaping to her.

As all of them were talking, a peak knight apprentice came to the training ground. With his powerful looking armour with the coat of arms of the Count Falgur on it, this man was definitely a direct subordinate of the count.

He shouted loudly in an authoritative voice and ordered everyone to gather. Then with a stern face he declared that they would be leaving in less than an hours time and told everyone to be prepared.

The count was being very generous here and was providing all the high level apprentice knights with one horse. Obviously these horses were not being given to them and they were only allowed to ride them for the duration of the mission.

The knight from the Falgur family also told everyone that currently they would be directly under his command. So for the next few days, they needed to follow his orders strictly.

No one present in the training ground showed any objection to what this knight named Fontana had to say. As long as he did not give them any suicidal orders, it was fine.

...

After about fifty minutes, a very large expedition team left the city. There were seven luxurious carriages carrying the esteemed officials knights.

There were also about 30 horses and each one of them had a powerful high level apprentice knights on their backs. It was truly a very marvelous sight.

As they left the city, all the citizens looked at them in wonder. Even just seeing one knight was rare and today, they managed to see so many of them together.

...

Weiss was riding her horse while making sure to keep up with the others. Not too fast but not too slow either. As there were no foot soldiers present in this team, their average speed was quite high.

There was no way that any bandits or even a regular wild beast would be brave and stupid enough to attack such a large and powerful group. So the journey was very smooth.

As the evening of the first day arrived, the team stopped by a riverside and started making their camp here. While everyone was busy preparing for the camp, Weiss and Karl met up in secret and exchanged some information.

As there had been no important discussion in the carriage where Karl was, he did not have much information to give Weiss.

But still as one of the official knight travelling with him had told everyone about the story of his encounter with an Earth Overturning Great monster, Karl was not entirely empty handed.

After talking with Karl, Weiss returned and started resting. As there were only three females among the mercenary apprentice knights, all of them were sharing one of the tents. Another female high level apprentice knight was joining them who was a subordinate of count Devonok. Her name was Leila.

Currently they were just a few hours away from the location where the Earth Overturning Great monster usually roamed. So they would enter it's territory the very next morning.

Obviously the count was not just trying to capture the monster with a head on battle. He had prepared several traps for it. So Weiss was looking forward to seeing what kind of traps they were and how much effectiveness they had.
