Chapter 51: My Turn!

"... and so, due to the natural feature of 'Speveatin Flowers' to store pure, highly concentrated spiritual energy in their calyx, these flowers are used for a number of potions, one of them, the spirit rejuvenating potion." Iveiar said just before the bell that signified the end of the class rang.

"I hope you all noted everything down." Iveiar said as the students started gathering their stuff in preparation to go to the next class. "Assignment to be submitted on Thursday, next week. List all of the potions that uses speveatin flowers as their main ingredients! Enjoy your weekend!" The half spirit professor wished the first years as they left her class – forest – one after the other.

"What do you think Mr. Herman will make is do today? Will he let us continue with the mannequin sparring or stop it because of Jeage's accident?" Jason asked his two buddies. Today was Friday and they were on their way to the second class of the day.

"I don't know. He might not want us to continue, or let us continue but with a downgraded version of the mannequin." Aoi replied with what he thought was the logical approach their instructor should take.

"Well, that would be boring." Jason frowned. The idea of battling a weaker version of the mannequin didn't appeal to him.

"I don't think he'll stop, after all it wasn't the mannequin that injured Jeage, he put his own life in danger by eating it. I think we will continue the sparring." Xenon replied, he too was looking forward to have his go at the mannequin so he had to be optimistic.

"Anyhow. As long as nobody dies." Aoi shrugged. He wasn't so keen to spar with the mannequin as he would prefer to use his ability as little as possible.

The trio joined the some of the first years at the combat class' compound and waited for Mr. Herman to appear. The remaining first years trickled in slowly till everyone was present, only then did Mr. Herman come out of the wooden building.

"Good day everyone. As we all know, an accident occurred during the class activity last class, which led to the early dismissal. Rest assured, Jeage Prasedymum is doing well and recovering steadily, and we will continue from where we stopped last class." Herman announced and was followed by murmurs.

Half the class was murmuring to each other about Jeage's incident, while the other half were discussing their instructor's decision to continue with the sparring as majority of the class had thought the activity would either be toned down or outright cancelled.

"I know your concerns. The decision to continue was not made by me but the proprietor. I too wanted to cancel the sparring and just use another method to get the information I want, but the proprietor insisted I continue, and with the same intensity as before. So, the sparring is back in full fervour, who's going next?" Herman said and Eyeball appeared beside him.

"Alright! My turn!" Jason exclaimed excitedly and bounced forward to take his position on the open field. "I feel like I'm forgetting something." Jason muttered as he stood, waiting for Eyeball to create the mannequin.

Brown, thread-like tendrils extended out of Eyeball and began constructing the mannequin, a few moments later he was done. The mannequin created was the same, with the same abilities and power level, nothing was different.

"Jason, are you read–" As the mannequin was finished, Herman was about to start the spar before he was interrupted.

"Ah ha! I haven't taken a weapon, that's what I forgot!" Jason jumped and went to the wooden building to take a normal wooden pole of about the same height as himself.

"I'm ready now, Sir." Jason said.

"Okay, Start!" Herman ordered.

Immediately the words left Herman's mouth, the mannequin dashed towards Jason. Eyeball was determined to finish off all the students quickly this time, not giving any opening to strike back as he pummeled them to defeat. He believed there would be lesser life threatening accidents that way.

The mannequin was a few feet from Jason when suddenly, it was hit by something carrying a lot of force and was knocked metres away. Jason had extended and exploded his protective field.

The mannequin which was blown away stood up, it's broken and wrongly angled limbs creaking back into place. It ran towards Jason again.

Jason, seeing the mannequin approaching him started to spin the wooden pole in his hands. He had his eyes closed and was completely concentrated on something.

Suddenly, Jason kicked off his shoes, dug his bare feet into the warm white sand, and opened his eyes. He scooped up some sand with his feet and flicked it forward, some sand landed on where the mannequin would be in a few seconds if it continued in its motion.

The mannequin continued towards Jason, and when it was just two feet away him – where the some sand had landed – it slid as the sandy floor had turned muddy.

At the same time the mannequin slid, the floor beneath Jason's feet exploded and he was propelled towards the mannequin. Mid air, in the split second before he collided with the mannequin, the wooden pole in Jason's right hand turned into a transparent liquid, then into something hot and red, before its form finally stopped at a completely transparent crystal with it's far end shaped like a spear head.

The two collided, with Jason slashing at the mannequin's head with his newly formed crystalline spear. Luckily, the mannequin was able to raise its arms in time, losing both its forearms instead of its head.

Jason landed and slid a bit away from the mannequin, but turned around and rushed at it immediately. The mannequin also reacted quickly and raised its partially regenerated forearms at Jason's barrage of attacks with the spear.

The spear cut at the mannequin's forearms repeatedly and very fast that in some seconds there was nothing above the mannequin's elbows and any regenerating parts were also severed quickly.

Eyeball knew the mannequin would just be slowly whittled down to nothing if it stood there, he decided to stop defending.

The mannequin raised what was left of its arms above its head and ran closer to Jason. Jason hurriedly stepped back and made two slashes that cut off the rest of the mannequin's arms, but the mannequin couldn't be bothered, it had found an opening.

The mannequin launched itself a few feet into the air, spun around and delivered a kick to Jason, which he blocked with the crystalline spear.

The mannequin launched itself into the air again, this time higher and positioned itself to perform a powerful overhead kick. Before the mannequin could land, Jason hurriedly thrust out with the spear, hitting the mannequin in the crotch area.

The mannequin didn't pay any attention to its crotch being impaled, but instead spun on the spear and delivered two strong kicks that hit their mark and Jason's face and threw him to the ground.

The mannequin removed the spear from where it was impaled and threw it beside Jason who was on the floor. Jason quickly grabbed the spear and rolled backwards a few times before standing on his feet.

Jason started spinning the spear in his arms and cracks started to appear on the spear's crystalline surface.

The mannequin dashed toward Jason as it sensed something fishy, but before it could reach Jason, the spear exploded and it's broken fragments all shot at the mannequin and lodged themselves in its body.

Before the mannequin could take another step, the numerous crystalline fragments all around its body burst into flames and covered its brown body in fire.

Immediately after the mannequin burst into flames, Jason dug his right hand in the sand, brought up his hand, spun around, and stretched his right hand at the mannequin.

When Jason brought up his hand from the sand and spun around, the falling sand had all been frozen in place mid air, and when he stretched his hand towards the mannequin, the sand immediately gathered and wrapped around the mannequin's neck like a whip, connected to Jason's right hand.

Before the mannequin could suck the regeneration dampening flames – in case you haven't noticed, the mannequin can't regenerate if it's burning – the sand around the mannequin's neck moved back and forth furiously and sawed through it.

Jason drew back the sand whip, which tossed the severed head into the air towards him. Jason released the sand and caught the mannequin's head in his palms and converted the flaming head into a frozen one instead.

'Uh man! I can't convert the mannequin itself." Jason lamented internally and walked towards Mr. Herman, dropping the frozen head in his hands.

Herman tossed the frozen, mannequin's head away and cleared his throat. "Who's going next?"

"You guys have to go next! I want to see how you'll kill the mannequin." Jason said to Xenon and Aoi as he walked to them. But before Xenon could open his mouth someone else had.

"I'll go next." Rogue Dām said.
