'Is that… the same boy… I fought…?' Kael thought as he shoved his way through the four people standing in front of him and stopped.
Sweat beaded Kael instantly as he spotted the kid he had fought with and underestimated to be weak, kneeling beside a dead ninja.
He tore his gaze around, his mouth opening wide, then closed it and shook his head.
At the far distance, countless young men and women walked out of the dormitory, holding weapons of different sizes and stopped when those at the front saw the corpses of the two soldiers.
From the remote area of the barracks, headlights stretched long, lighting the dark section of the road stretching to the gate. And when the light turned off, Gray jumped out of the military truck and ran toward where the five had trodden.
His heart heaved as he moved to the corpse of the soldier still clutching onto the sickle, moved past it, and stopped, seeing five of the young soldiers standing there shocked.
"Give way!" Gray said, his voice echoing loudly through the night, pushed them aside and stood at the front.
His eyes widened as he saw Kai clutching onto the handle of a dagger stabbed at the neck of a corpse wearing a full black ninja outfit.
Gray swallowed, gestured to all those standing behind him to join the ten-squad standing at the other side of the gate.
Gray rushed forward, wrapped his arms around Kai, and helped him stand up. Seeing the dead eyes of Kai, Gray clenched his jaw and tore his gaze to the dead ninja, and grinned.
'Marcus!' Gray said low in his head but sharp air gashed out of his lips, letting Kai hear the name.
"Are you alright?" Gray asked, his voice carrying fear as he checked the wounds on Kai's body that had clotted blood covering them.
Counting over ten wounds, Gray quickly guided Kai and moved him to the military truck he had brought and sent him back to the building in which Clara was.
"Clara!" Gray said as he climbed the top floor, holding Kai in his palms and moving through the hallway.
Many doors opened as Clara's name got mentioned in the middle of the night.
As Gray reached a pink door, the door automatically opened and inside it was a lady wearing a transparent nightwear that seemed to be one with her bare skin.
Gray placed the bleeding Kai on the white laced bed and gestured to Clara to bring him some medicines.
After pouring liquid painkillers on wounds on Kai's body, no scream came out. Kai just lay there widening his eyes and staring deep into Gray's.
"What… happened… to him?" Clara said, brushing the sleep from her eyes and standing in shock after handing Gray the third tablet painkiller and adding a bottle of water to it.
Gray didn't answer her, he simply forced Kai to open his mouth, placed the pills in it, opened the water and poured it in, letting Kai swallow both the water and the pill.
For the first attempt, Kai growled and spilled out all the pills, letting them fall on the bed and dissolve in it.
Then on the second try, Gray placed his palms at the back of Kai, positioned his head upward. After doing that, Kai simply swallowed freely.
Gray exhaled, pulled out a smart device from his pocket and pressed the red button, letting a siren sound echo loudly.
At the listen of the siren every soldier in the barracks, both those at all the remote areas and the ones still sleeping in the same dormitory the sword ninja tried to kill its members slammed their doors open.
Car engines sparked, letting headlights dance in the dark areas as they all moved to the entrance of the barracks.
And when the green military truck turned sideways and halted, Wang walked out. He squeezed his eyes as he glanced at the corpses of the soldiers and at the faces and bodies of the fifteen young men standing outside the gate, and smiled.
Wang moved away from the truck, exited through the gate and stopped just an inch from the fifteen young men.
"What happened here?" he said, tilting his gaze slowly across their pale faces and stopped when he noticed someone walking from the mouth of the alley leading to where the barracks was.
As Wang stepped forward, closing in with the person coming after moving past the fifteen young men, he paused his tenth step, blinked and turned a sharp gaze at the dark corner of the abandoned building.
"There…!" Wang said, his voice echoing sharply as he pointed a finger at something that seemed to flicker in the dark when the ray of the moon fell on it.
Kael and two others rushed toward the area, searched there but found nothing, and when the two young guys turned in respect to relay the information to Wang, Kael paused them.
Kael squeezed his eyes as the smell of blood clutched into his nose.
He bent down, picked up the short iron rod lying on the ground and moved forward, vanishing into the open door of the building.
After ten minutes Kael walked out holding the bloodstained black cloth that seemed to be a torn part of a male cloth – typically one all bandits used.
When Kael placed the torn cloth in Wang's arm, Wang closed his eyes and began sniffing the blood in the cloth.
After two minutes Wang cracked his eyes open, stared straight at the person now standing and whirling around at their front, then grinned.
"Max!" Wang said, noticing the person to be one of the soldiers of Sword Sect Barracks.
Wang gestured to Kael and five others to take Max then cracked his knuckles.
Wang turned a cold gaze at Max as the six young soldiers moved Max past him, but at that same time, saw a strange smile on Max's lips.
After the six soldiers and Max entered the barracks through the entrance gate, Wang tilted his gaze at the mouth of the alley.
He inhaled deeply, gestured to the nine young soldiers standing behind him, their weapons clutched tightly under their fists to move forward.
A few minutes after the last person of the nine soldiers moved past him, Wang moved toward the truck he had brought, pulled out his knight-like sword and followed the direction the nine soldiers took.
As Wang reached where the trash bins were, he tilted his gaze to the barracks walls and back to the four-way straight at his front and smiled in a sinister manner.
Turning to the left, he pulled out a smart device from his pocket, dialed a number saved with the name, NoOne, and placed the device at his cheek.
"They are coming your way, don't have mercy, like they did with Denis and my brother!" Wang said, his chest rising and falling like a volcano ready to explode.
…
Inside Clara's room, Gray sat calmly beside Kai who now had his wounds covered with medical plasters, and was slowly falling into sleep.
Though Kai wasn't at the hostile part of the barracks, he didn't let go of the one dagger in his arm.
After two minutes, Gray stood up, placed a cold hand on Clara's shoulder and whispered in her ears,
"Take care of the kid for me…" he said, hugged Clara tightly.
"Take him to the temple at the mountain… if you don't hear from me in the next six hours." Gray said, pulling himself away from Clara and walked toward the open door.
He halted, turned and watched the faces of Kai and Clara, then turned his gaze back to the hallway.
When Gray reached the yard, where almost all the soldiers were, he stopped the truck, got down, and walked toward Max who leaned on the light pole panting while clutching his right arm at his stomach.
"Is he the one?" Gray said, placing a hand on Max's shoulder and helped him up.
The moment Max looked at Gray in the eyes, he inhaled deeply, closed his eyes and smiled.
"Yes… he's the one…"
