Regressed With A Copy System: Breaking the Loop

Chapter 46: New Ally

Two days ago...

"Help them!" Lady Eva commanded.

The Cerulean Guardian members rushed over to the fallen members of Nolan's teams, helping them up and giving them Royal Clover potions to at least stop the bleeding, because the cuts were to deep.

Lady Eva walked over to Nolan by herself and crouched beside him, then she looked at Maximus's head.

"What did I just see here? Was he always a demon or is it—I honestly do not understand this," she said.

At the time, Nolan's vision had completely blurred he was about to pass out. She put a hand on his head and apologized, "Sorry I had not come earlier."

"Come over here and ta—" She was about looking away when her eyes widened.

Nolan's body had—in his now unconscious state—let a small amount of energy. Lady Eva was relieved, because she had thought he died. Now she knew he was still alive, but that wasn't the major cause of her surprise.

"Is this not… my ability?" she muttered.

… …

Now.

Cerulean Guardians Infirmary...

"Also, is your ability really fire? Or is your ability a… copying ability?" Lady Eva asked.

Nolan turned to her, his face blank, but he was very shocked in the inside. Why did it seem like everyone just all of a sudden started knowing more about him?

"What do you mean?" he asked with a leveled tone.

Lady raised an eyebrow, giving that 'are you serious right now?' look. "I'm not a child you can just spin a fairytale for."

"I showed you I had the fire ability when I was first recruited, didn't I?" Nolan

Lady Eva said nothing, shooting him a questioning glare.

Nolan blinked at her glare, completely unfazed by it.

"I know you can use my ability, Nolan. I know very well."

"Prove it," Nolan said right after she finished. He quickly switched his ability slot from Divine Control to Fire Affinity and then he made a small ball of fire.

"Huh?" Lady Eva hesitated, completely caught off guard.

"You've seen the fire," Nolan said, dismissing the ball. "Where's proof that I can use your ability?"

"Don't act like—"

"Test it again," Nolan said, extending a hand. "If I can, you should feel it right? Go on."

"Hm," she hummed before taking his hand in hers. She closed her eyes and suddenly her brows furrowed, her grip on his hands tightening.

Normally, after feeling someone's ability for the first time, she didn't need them to use it again to tell what it was.

Each ability was painted differently in her mind, so when she touched the person again, it would come up. But that day, when Nolan in his unconscious state released the energy, what came up was the image of her ability.

After a few more seconds, she released his hands, looking at them skeptically.

"So?" Nolan tilted his head innocently. "Can I really use your ability? I would love to have it though."

Lady Eva's eyes narrowed as she watched him, trying to find out what he had just done, or… was she the one who was wrong? "No," she said, looking away.

Nolan watched her battle with her mind for a few seconds before she looked back, saying, "That aside, how did you know something was going to happen in the woods?"

[Using Talent "Honeytongue"!]

"I told you I felt like it would be a dangerous place. You all know how close ranked demons have gotten to the city and aren't doing anything serious about it.

We're losing comrades now, soon we'll be loosing the commoners and King sure will need some explanations," Nolan explained, moving away from the question and throwing the consequences of the guild's ignorance in her face.

"Elite Loretta's not doing anything about it," she replied to him, her voice lower than usual, as if scared that someone would be eavesdropping.

And he found the crack. She was now loosening up and believing his words. "What do you mean?" Nolan asked.

"I don't know. She's just pushing a lot under the rug and saying it's nothing to worry about for now."

Nolan put a hand his chin, processing the information. Before, he was about 60% sure someone was controlling her, but now he was more than 100% sure of it.

If Maximus easily infiltrated the guild with such perfect precision, then just how many people in the guild currently, are not demon puppets?

"I can change this," he said.

Lady Eva turned to him, puzzled. "What—what do you mean you can change this?"

"I don't think I need to give you any more reasons to trust me, do I?"

Lady Eva hesitated before answering. "No."

"Then trust me when I say you don't have to stay locked up by the guild's chains. This is between us alone," Nolan added.

She remained silent for a beat, thinking everything through. "How do we begin?" she finally said.

Nolan smiled. "I will speak with you about it later."

Lady Eva nodded and stood up.

"Also," Nolan said.

When she turned to him her eyes widened.

"How good are you with keeping secrets?" he asked, telekinetically holding up her book to her.

… …

Outside the Infirmary.

A figure who was leaning on the wall, cap covering their facial features, pushed off it and walked over to a small corner where two buildings almost met.

"The Head of Recruitments has joined him," he said, walking past the corner.

A hooded man who was standing in there nodded and walked towards the other end. "Just how is he easily taking them off script?"

The man took out a paper and scribbled down something in it.

When he was done, he walked over to the other end and handed the paper to a Novice-rank who was passing by.

"Give this to Elite Loretta, would you?" he said, handing the paper.

… …

A minute later...

Special Advisor's Office.

Loretta looked at the message that was sent to her and let out a sigh of frustration. It read:

Keep an eye on Eva
