Devil Equinox

Chapter 43: FIRE SPREADS IN SUFFOCATION

In a meadow completely shrouded in darkness my head nestled between the thighs of a fair beauty who had known me forever, yet she couldn't grab a hold of me since she rarely sees me.

"You have finally come back to me, my love," she gently spoke to me. She slowly moved her thumb across my cheek. I rested my head against her warm, skeletal palm.

"I cannot stay long here, you know Death." I reminded her.

"I know Ravedos, but I hate having you here only to leave me alone in this meadow to guide all these pitiful, wonderful, beautiful, hideous and lustrous souls. My task given to me by the creators is to guide these souls to their destinations and yet you are never apart of them." Death said.

"Death, you love so much but I don't reciprocate the emotions you have for me. I still that one being that I had lost a long time ago in the world. Even though I have died something pulls me back to the world of the living. I just cannot remain a silent corpse."

"Indeed, it is a shame that we cannot remain together. I shall speak to you another time in future, I will always be here waiting for you."

Death a lovely woman who would always a cloak that had no sleeves to show her pale skin and a hood she adorns on her long, luscious, unkept hair. The very first time I met her was 400 years ago, when I was betrayed by the demons, forcing me out of my home and to roam the land of the humans for the rest of my time.

I closed my eyes and slowly breathed out.

Then I sharply inhaled air, eyes wide open. I couldn't see where I was and was bombarded with a horrendous smell of garbage. I realised I was in a dumpster after looking at its relative length compared to my height whilst I lied on my left side. I pushed open the lid of the dumpster and struggled out of the dumpster and landed hard on the paved alley floor. I groaned in pain and struggled getting up from the moist cement floor.

Stumbling into the saferoom my team rushed to my aid. "Shit Captain, what happened to you!?!" Marie asked me concerned.

"You look rough, what happened out there cap?" Donny asked as well.

After the confrontation and telling my team what had happened, I took a shower and in there I contemplated what and thinking of why she might have don that. Too many to think of and not many very conclusive.

The hot shower water rolling down on my skin, washing away the dirt and blood on my body. The steam filling the shower obscuring my sight temporarily made the atmosphere light and soothing. It had been a long time since I had been in such a state, where conflicting thoughts and a sublime shower come together effectively cancelling each other out.

Surprises do tend to happen. I had everything perfectly and it made me reflect on such small moments I have missed over time. Then I looked out the translucent shower door, seeing a figure with lovely curves further accentuated by long hair standing outside undressing themselves, ready to take a shower.

The door was opened by none other than Veronicah who had come for reasons only known to her. Her body was plump, after I realised that she hadn't been training as much as she should. "Tonight is a special occasion, Captain," she told me.

She moved her closer to me and pressed her breasts on my body, and she moved her left hand down my body to my crotch. She knew what she was doing and wanted to do the deed. We ended up in her room lying down, satisfied by the sensational love-making activity we had chosen to do together. She had told me that she was mine two years ago and now she had made an effort to get rid of my building stress.

The next morning was another reconnaissance mission for three more sectors of the city: the quiet suburbs, the law enforcement sector and the commerce sector. Though they seemed quite niche and seemingly better areas than the other sectors we went to, I urged them to carry their weapons with them. These sectors were, in fact, the most dangerous ones in the city together.

Yeah, I know! How can these possibly be the worst ones? You may ask yourself. Hahaha. You don't know the half of it, dear reader. Hidden dangers often are the safest things we associate with. Being in an area you know is dangerous is better than being in an area you assume is not. Which one will get you killed first? The one you know is dangerous, right? Wrong, the nicest things often carry hidden, unknown dangers. You could be lucky you picked a safe one.

It was paramount we go through these sectors and build our network.

Chatter did arise from my team, and I asked what they were murmuring about. Donny looked at the others, sighed and parted his lips, "Captain, it's about what you and Veronicah were up to last night," he spoke and paused for a moment.

"We actually don't mind what you guys do but the sounds made were astronomically loud. All we heard were the sound of thunderous clapping overshadowing your moans. We had no choice but to record it for you two to listen to us."

He took out his phone that kept the recording and played back last nights noise. They did not lie about the fact that it sounded like thunderclaps, and it even made them uncomfortable. I apologised to my team.

"Look Captain, we know you have had it harder than us, and we asked Veronicah to help you out since you are always on edge. What we didn't expect the fallout of your dance together," Marie said.

"Don't you think we coerced her in anyway, she has always wanted to, and we told her it was fine," Dante spoke smirking.

"No such thing was said to me by him!" Veronicah concurred.

"It's fine. We will deal with that later. Right now, we got work to do," I spoke in a call voice.

Everyone nodded and went back to work, but Veronicah stood close to me. "Why do you feel such regret?" she asked me. I looked at her and got rid of my eyepatch. "Some things weren't supposed to happen as they did." I told her.

She turned her head and came down to hug me. I was enshrouded by her warmth. She had buried my face deep into her cleavage and she had no bra on.

Why am I describing such things? Author, please tell me what you have done to me? "Leave him be Body," my Mind said. You are a depraved individual, author.

It was getting close to noon, and I had to pay someone a visit at the nearby diner.

Author: Okay, hear me out! I wanted to give the man a life, and you might understand. You don't? Dang, I tried. Wanna see more of these kinds of chapters well you can comment. I will continue in my endeavour in writing a rich story. Yeah, I am fully aware that I haven't touched on the lore, I will get to the that. Maybe.
