A Writer's Transmigration into the world of fantasy

Chapter 34: The Launch

Just like the other two, a fine imprint in scarlet ink appeared on the talisman, giving it the properties of sealing objects.

Qin Wei grinned. "These sealing talismans will be sold elsewhere. Out of House Griffin's reach."

[Exploding Seal]: A sealing inscription technique that absorbs and stores compressed natural energy and releases it as an explosion upon detonation, compared to a rank-4. Note: Any kind of energy that comes in contact with the seal will trigger the detonation. Cooldown: 30 seconds.

[Storage Seal]: Inscribe spatial seals into any non-living material, and turn it into a vessel to store objects in a pocket dimension. Cooldown: 60 seconds.

[Paralysis Seal/Spirit Locking Talisman]: When placed on a person, object, or even terrain, the seal spreads across the target. As long as the seal remains intact, the target will be in a state of immobility, provided that the target is under Rank-6 or the object is under the Earth grade stage. Note: For Rank-6 and above enemies, earth grade and above artifacts, multiple tags are required to be linked together.

Just like that, five days passed in the blink of an eye.

During those five days, Qin Wei barely left his study. Talisman after talisman, he continuously created Paralyze Seals, which he renamed Spirit Locking Talismans.

As planned, instead of handing it over to the House Griffin, he stored them in his inventory so that when Luna returns from the guild after selling those 200 storage talismans he gave to her.

In the meantime, he also fulfilled his obligations to deal with the House Griffin.

He handed over 100 exploding talismans and 50 storage talismans to the House Griffin, handing them to Vanessa, and earned his first revenue in this world.

Even the original Icarus never worked hard to earn a single gold on his own.

But in just a week, Qin Wei received a whopping 180,000 gold coins for the first batch he had sent.

While Qin Wei was quite happy with so much money in his pocket, which was like 75 years' worth of allowance he would receive as a matrilocal husband, he still knew that it was far from enough. 1 million is still far away.

And then on the sixth day;

Qin Wei was out in the streets again, walking through the central district with his hands behind his back once again. Beside him, Vanessa matched his pace as usual, a half-step behind and a half-glance ahead, always staying alert.

But this wasn't just a stroll for taking fresh air or something.

Today was the launch day of his talismans that the House Griffin is going to make public.

Both of them stopped outside the House Griffin's weapon emporium, a tall structure with lacquered pillars, now draped in red cloth and calligraphy.

Across the store's front, fluttering in the morning wind, massive banners hunged, inked in bold strokes:

"INTRODUCING: WEAPONIZED TALISMAN!"

"Opening Day: 50% Discount!"

"Crafted by Master Phoenix — Exclusively at the House Griffin!"

Qin Wei blinked in surprise. "Master Phoenix? Seriously? That's so tacky..." he muttered.

He looked at her, pointing at himself, "Is it me?"

Vanessa smirked at his expression. "Aren't you Master Phoenix?"

"What Master Phoenix?" Qin Wei scoffed at the House Griffin's attempt to mislead the public, "It's clear that they are using the House Phoenix name, misleading the customers that it is made by some powerful Talisman Master from our House that is still living somewhere."

Vanessa shrugged indifferently, "That's how businesses work. Honest and straightforward, but still becoming a prosperous business... such a thing doesn't exist."

Meanwhile, Crowds had gathered already. Young warriors, wide-eyed academy students, and curious freelance adventurers in loose robes all jostled to get closer to the entrance.

From inside the open doors, store attendants passed out sealed talismans in smooth packages, each marked with the House Griffin's silver crest.

"Looks like Master Icarus's talismans are selling well," Vanessa commented, continuing to observe the situation. She pointed at one, "Look at him, Master Icarus. He had like ten of them in his hands."

A flash of genuine surprise crossed Qin Wei's face. "House Griffin is indeed quite reputable. People are spending hundreds of gold coins just like that."

Vanessa gave a small nod, filled with pride. "Well, the House Griffin has the reputation of being trustworthy."

For a brief moment, Qin Wei stood motionless, watching the bustling tide surge toward the doors. People raised their voices, bartering for extras, calling out prices, and waving coin pouches in the air as his talismans were selling like hot cakes.

And as a creator, he couldn't help but become slightly emotional, his chest swelling with pride.

But then came the sound of hooves, disturbing the entire lively atmosphere.

A deep rumble crawled up the stone road with the arrival of a massive Rank-7-rhino-beast-drawn carriage. Two curved horns jutted from the beast's forehead, and its breath steamed like smoke.

Qin Wei stiffened for a moment.

"I've seen that carriage before," he muttered, knitting his brow and trying to dig into his memories.

Meanwhile, Vanessa narrowed her eyes. "That's the insignia of House Fireheart..."

"Eh? House Fireheart?"

Around the carriage, six black-robed warriors moved like shadows. Half-masks covered their faces, and none of them spoke. Their presence brought silence to the spectators.

One of them, tall and broad-shouldered, then stepped forward. And without warning, he drew a black sword from his back and swept it horizontally. At once, a violent gust exploded outward from its swing...

BOOM!

Several people were blasted away by its force, including shoppers, attendants, and even a nearby horse carriage crashed into a pole. Screams erupted as people tumbled over one another in panic and pain...

"What the hell!?"

"Someone call the guards!"

"What is the House Griffin doing?"

Vanessa then stepped in front of Qin Wei instinctively, placing one hand on the hilt of her curved blade to defend him while her eyes burned with alertness.

It was then that the rhino beast let out a deep snort, stamping its steel-shod hoof, and the carriage ground to a halt.

From the curtained side, a high-pitched voice suddenly rang out like a bell slicing through the noise.

"The Duke of Dawnmere has arrived! Make way!"

At once, a hush fell like a blanket all over the street.
