The last Vampire with the Hero summoner system: I get 5x their powers

Chapter 56: Let Down

With [Eye of Sanguine], I had an idea of their movements even more than them, so it was possible to do so with my upgraded stats. But my heart was caught in my throat, my teeth grinding against each other as I desperately ran, my mind running at 200% of what it was capable of.

I doubted a wild Giant would act predictably enough for my kind of low-level ability to guess its movements, but be it either their obvious target being Kael, or Alyndra's control over them, they were kinda dumb.

Shen and his clones weren't doing half bad either, and his face was much more relaxed than mine, avoiding attacks left and right, making me doubt if he had [Eye of Sanguine] too. He clearly was this badass, old, overpowered grandpa type; maybe he can teach me these tricks, too?

Shen was literally everywhere due to the precision of his clones' movements, baiting giants with one, then appearing on the other side with another.

But still, two of Shen's clones had been destroyed.

But we were quite close now.

Shen's clones instantly vanished as his original body got on my back. "Just need to speed up at the end, boy. That was a good plan. While they will struggle to get up, the hero can come back."

I nodded, that's right. I felt like bursting into laughter imagining the massive titans' trip, then the giants behind them tripping on their bodies.

I used my final [Dash], not moving in a zig-zag anymore as I passed over the lowered blood string.

The string next was instantly raised by Alya, high enough to make the giants trip, who were now finally raising their speed.

I froze completely as I felt the violent tremors the giants were causing get weaker and weaker.

They were so close! They won't trip if they just stop or jump over it! Why are they slowing? Is this Alyndra's doing? I looked at him, Kael and him were having a proper grappling fight, and Kael was losing, his leg and right eye were missing.

It must be him… It would be over if the giants closed in on them.

"It's alright." My lips parted at Suge's rough, but very reassuring voice.

My eyes brightened as I turned to him. He had both his cat paws raised, the air around him shaking as a violent SHWOOOOSHH!! echoed, releasing a concentrated, cat paw shaped sonic wave.

It hit the ceiling, but it didn't explode. No. It bounced off it like a rubber ball. The action repeated itself tens of times in less than a second, the sonic boom moving blindingly fast now as more and more momentum built up with every bounce.

Until it passed the giants who couldn't even notice it, it turned backwards by bouncing at a precise angle ahead of it, as if it were remotely controlled.

With the still present momentum, it tore the space, sending tremors while shattering walls, ground, and ceilings around it as its size increased slowly, becoming wide enough to cover all ten giants by the time it reached them.

Thamm!!

A massive dust cloud rose as a violent, ear-piercing BOOM made my heart beat much faster. I could taste the kind of bitter but mostly tasteless dust on my tongue as I looked forward with my eyelids still shut.

The four giants at the rear stumbled forward; that stumble was all it took for their massive bodies to lose enough balance to push the giants forward.

Alya's blood string moved itself forward, placing itself just right as the giants at the front, caught off guard by the push from behind, plummeted hard, crashing one by one against the ground, their bodies piling up against each other.

With the power and speed Suge's had, I was half expecting the giants to turn into a meat paste.

Though it got the job done. I felt a deep ache in my chest as I saw Kael, Ren, and Zhenny, sounds of their heavy breaths overwhelming even the sound of spells and punches filled with desperation.

As I took a step forward, my knee wobbled, falling face-first, only to be avoided by placing my hand over my head. My fists clenched, the repeated use of [Dash] was making my legs ache in parts I didn't even know existed as I felt incredibly sore trying to put weight on them.

Most of the slaves didn't have enough arcana to survive the rapid draining of that artifact. Most should be dead by now if not for a massive box of healing potions provided by Zhenny and Kobi, which I saw the last triangle-shaped, mirror-like bottle fall from a teenage girl's hands.

All of them were lying on the ground now, tears covering their faces after realising they definitely lost many years of their life.

Alya too looked incredibly tired after holding her skill active for so long, even now not turning it off as her blood made its way towards Alyndra, who still looked perfectly fine.

Subaru… I felt a bit blue after realising this was my first thought about the situation. If not for Kael, Subaru, and even Suge just now, or the other Alphas that are fighting most likely the hardest right now against the church captains, or Pazuzu's warning, or everyone else here, I would probably be long dead.

Even if we got out safely, how long will I survive till another Alyndra pops up…? As long as I am a vampire, they will keep coming. I took in the cool, dust-filled air deep inside my lungs as Shen tried to help me up with a worried look.

I will have no one to save me then… My recklessness, weakness and uselessness would get even Alya and Subaru killed.

The cool and composed character Lucien was growing further and further away from my grasp the more I tried to cling to it.

I looked at Alya, who dodged a massive invisible attack that left a fifty-meter-wide hole in the wall behind her while launching her blood to save Ren, who was about to be hit by a similar attack.

I finally stood up, patting the dust while rushing to their side, almost falling thrice again in the short distance. Maybe her knowing what I truly was beneath had made 'Lucien' go away.

Alyndra glanced at me, holding the battered body of Kael in a chokehold in both his hands, his blue eyes talking to me wordlessly, 'It's going exactly like I had seen.'

I turned back, sensing something, and my face paled. The giant at the rear had already figured out that he had to stand up first; at this rate, they will soon be charging at us again in no time.

[Host is recommended not to risk his life as he did before. Enter the primordial trial with a thought if you feel no hope.]

[Please understand, your survival is of the utmost importance. You have survived the attack before purely by foolish luck. You can always avenge them if you pass the trial… At least have a better chance than this.]
