A Bumpy Road to Power

Chapter 128: Remote Interaction

The girl was very tall.

She was at least around 1.75 meters tall.

She wore a tight-fitting sports tank top on her upper body, and a fluttering short skirt, also a sports skirt, on her lower body.

A white headband was tied around her forehead.

Every exposed part of her body was still glistening with sweat, clearly indicating she had just returned from exercising.

Although the girl's skin was bronze-colored,

it was smooth and shiny, exuding a youthful and energetic style.

"My daughter, Eleanor Lewis."

Donal Lewis pointed at the girl and said.

Then, he pointed at Dirk Carter and said to the girl, "My new secretary, Dirk Carter."

Eleanor's gaze fell on Dirk, sizing him up, and she said to Donal Lewis, "Dad, you're improving, finally showing some good taste."

"What do you mean?"

Donal Lewis asked.

Eleanor covered her mouth with a smile and said, "Previously, every secretary was a misshapen melon; now you've finally found a handsome guy, not bad, not bad."

Upon hearing this.

Donal Lewis's face changed, and he scolded, "How rude."

Then he turned to Dirk and said, "Sorry about that, she's usually very well-behaved. She used to be a tennis player, but after a leg injury, she switched to being a sports teacher."

"It's alright, Boss."

Dirk said.

"Dirk Carter! Your name is quite interesting, does that mean you're usually quite carefree?"

Eleanor tilted her head towards Dirk, asking with interest.

"Eleanor, I warn you, this is my office, speak with some manners, okay?"

Donal Lewis scolded again.

Eleanor pouted, looking quite aggrieved as she said, "Alright, alright, I won't say anymore, is that okay now? Didn't you say you'd take me to the doctor after your trip? I'll come find you after work, don't forget again."

"Alright, alright, I got it, is that enough?"

After saying this.

Donal Lewis managed to send Eleanor out after lots of coaxing.

After coming back.

His face turned serious again.

He checked his watch and said, "It's about time, arrange for the meeting to start."

Dirk also turned serious and said, "I'll go notify them now."

At 10 o'clock.

In the Standing Committee meeting room.

As the highest decision-making body in Stillwater County,

almost every major decision, order, and measure is issued from here.

Though he was Dylan Tate's adopted son, it was Dirk's first time entering this meeting room, and naturally, not just anyone could enter.

Besides the eleven members of Stillwater County's Standing Committee,

there was one more person, naturally, the secretary to the County Committee Secretary.

His role in this type of meeting was purely as a recording secretary.

When Dirk followed Donal Lewis in, aside from Sherman Summers being out on a research trip, the other nine committee members were all present.

After sitting down at the secretary's position in the corner.

Dirk felt that the atmosphere today was somewhat unusual.

Technically, today was just a policy study meeting,

but everyone's faces were full of concerns, as if they all knew something would happen.

Dirk looked up.

Across from him, he saw a flirty glance from Dahlia Hughes.

This woman was too bold.

The conference table in the Standing Committee meeting room was long,

seating was arranged according to the County Committee ranking.

The head position at the front, needless to say, belonged to County Committee Secretary Donal Lewis.

The left side should have been the seat of the County Mayor Sherman Summers, but since he was absent, it was empty. On the right side was Deputy County Committee Secretary Augustus Hendrix, and the Executive Deputy Mayor Dahlia Hughes sat next to Augustus Hendrix.

Technically, if Sherman Summers were present,

Dirk, sitting at a diagonal, wouldn't be directly facing Dahlia Hughes.

But since Sherman Summers was absent,

their lines of sight were unobstructed.

In such a serious setting, doing this kind of thing, just as Dirk was preparing to avert his gaze, suddenly, Dahlia Hughes's left hand reached under the table, and she crooked her finger at Dirk.

Curious, Dirk looked over.

Suddenly, Dahlia Hughes opened her trench coat,

and then spread her legs wide open, revealing a uniquely styled pair of panties underneath.

The dense foliage and dew-laden petals slammed into Dirk's eyes without a cover.

"Ahem, ahem..."

This scene made Dirk cough involuntarily.

Donal Lewis was reading aloud the newly learned policy, and everyone was intently listening, not noticing the commotion in the corner.

Seeing Dirk like this.

Dahlia Hughes appeared quite pleased with herself.

She held a pen in one hand,

while the other was placed between her legs, tracing the edge of the petals with her middle finger.

In such a very serious atmosphere, having her little lover staring at her self-comfort, it was quite an exhilarating thing. After a few teasing moves, she felt a warm rush of fluid surge inside her.

She pinched a bit of the sticky liquid with her fingers.

In front of Dirk, she smeared it on her thigh.

Then she probed the edge of the petals again, plunging in to the base of her finger with a squish.

Damn!

This is insane.

Dirk was so shocked his jaw nearly dropped.

His ears could no longer take in the content of Donal Lewis's meeting, his eyes were glued to the spectacle under the table as if he might fall into it.

The more he behaved like this,

the more excited Dahlia Hughes became.

The movement of her hand grew wider and wider.

Although her facial expression didn't change, the blush on her cheeks deepened.

Just as their silent interaction reached a fever pitch.

A knock came at the meeting room door.

Which interrupted Dirk's gaze.

He quickly stood up, went to the door, and opened it.

Several men in black suits stood at the door, led by a middle-aged man who peered inside.

At this moment, Ty Adler, the Discipline Committee Secretary, stood up and asked, "What's going on?"

This Ty Adler,

was transferred from the city after Dahlia Hughes became the Executive Deputy Mayor.

He wasn't very old, in his forties, looking quite handsome.

The man in the black suit at the door gestured to Ty Adler, who said to Donal Lewis, "Secretary Lewis, I'll be right back after stepping out for a moment."

Donal Lewis was naturally displeased at having the meeting interrupted.

He nodded, and Ty Adler went out, murmuring for about two minutes at the door, then returned, just about to lean over and say something in Donal Lewis's ear when Donal Lewis said, "If you have something to say, just say it. All the leaders of Stillwater County are present, there's no secret here."

Ty Adler hesitated, then said, "Secretary Lewis, the Discipline Committee just received a report stating... stating..."

"Stating what?"

Donal Lewis asked seriously.

Ty Adler glanced at Dirk in the corner and said, "Someone has reported your secretary, Dirk Carter, for abuse of power and having an unclear source of vast amounts of wealth."

As soon as this statement was made,

the entire meeting room was instantly abuzz.

Everyone began whispering to each other, and all eyes fell on Dirk.

"Oh? Such a thing? Is there solid evidence?"

"We are still substantiating the evidence, but according to protocol, we must take coercive measures against Dirk Carter."

As soon as Ty Adler finished his words,

Dahlia Hughes cleared her throat and said, "Secretary Ty, without confirming the evidence, taking coercive measures doesn't seem to be the Discipline Committee's practice, right?"

"There is evidence!"

Suddenly, a loud voice came from the door.

Corbin Hall from the County Committee Office walked in briskly.

He wore a suit and stood at the center, addressing the people in the meeting room, "Hello, leaders, my name is Corbin Hall, and I work in the County Committee Office."

"Are you the one claiming to have evidence?"

Donal Lewis asked.

Corbin Hall nodded and said, "Yesterday morning..."

He first recounted the incident yesterday morning when Phoebe Sutton and others made a scene at the County Committee compound, then continued, "After the incident, Director Lu of the County Committee Office took it very seriously. With the principle of not wronging a good person and not letting a bad person go, he had me keep an eye on this matter..."
