Every Origin who fought in at least a few battles along the way knew that the Arx Type was the most dangerous in close combat. After all, it was a Catalyst in the form of a weapon. That didn't mean the Arx Type was the strongest, but coming face to face with a great sword was far more dangerous than facing energy or a summoned creature.
However, some believed that the Garon Type was just as dangerous. It all depended on the specific Origin and how he used his abilities.
These two types were quite similar, both focused on a weapon. In one case, an Origin held his weapon in his grasp, and in the other, he himself became the weapon.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Judith's fists rained down in a flurry of fire on the Crystal Golem, who tried to block her hits by crossing his hands in front of him.
This went on for a while, but eventually Judith ran out of steam.
"Shit!"
She jumped back, looking at the dark spot on the Crystal Golem's wrist. Her punches were as strong as ever, but ineffective.
"Hey, how long do I have to wait for your help—!"
Whooooooosh.
Kreyn rushed past her as he stopped abruptly in front of the Crystal Golem, who didn't have time to change his stance.
Kreyn had military training, he knew how to fight hand-to-hand and how to use every part of his body to win. He was also very skilled with a knife, but fencing and fighting monsters had never been on his to-do list.
However, with his experience and desire, dealing with a pile of rocks would not be too difficult.
"What is that...?" Judith thought as she watched the light run along the hollow on Kreyn's sword.
"Take this!"
At the same moment, the energy blast burst from the tip of his sword in a purple flame.
The impact shattered the Crystal Golem's defense as his hand flew to the side. It was a monster made of stone and crystals, so the pain was almost unnoticeable to it.
Without hesitation, the Crystal Golem raised his second arm, bringing his fist down on Kreyn.
'Damn it!' Judith's eyes widened as she lunged forward. 'I won't be able to help him in time!'
BAM!
The fist struck, but Kreyn didn't even get a scratch.
"Hah, great job." He smirked as blue light fell on his face from the protective barrier that stopped the fist. "This isn't the strongest opponent, but that's even better."
"I'm already here!" Judith bounced off the ground as she landed on the monster's shoulder. "I'll finish this!"
She brought her hands together and slammed her fists like a hammer onto the Crystal Golem's head. With a bright flash, a stream of flame shot upward as fragments of stone and crystals flew in all directions.
THUMP!
The heavy body collapsed to the ground in front of Kreyn, who looked up at Judith with a sly smile.
"Looks like you're not as strong as you said you were."
"WHAT?" She frowned and put her hands on her hips. "I use fire, and if you're too dumb to realize that a stone opponent isn't the best scenario for me, then I feel sorry for you!"
"Hah, those are just excuses. Someone just can't admit their flaws."
Their banter continued for a while longer until they got down to business — the loot.
"Do they have anything valuable?" Daren asked. He didn't have to take part in the fight.
Judith nodded, removing a stone plate from the golem's chest. Inside was a round blue orb.
"That's their core. Even after they die, the core retains its energy for a long time. It will be useful for ordinary people and us as well."
While Judith and Daren were pulling the blue core out of the Crystal Golem's chest, Kreyn had time to think.
'I see... After all, this is the real world, the only true one, not some video game I was into in my youth. These monsters aren't just bags of experience or a way to get some crystals. Each of them has its own value, just like animals. Some parts of their bodies may be treasures, while others may be worthless.'
Immediately after his awakening, Kreyn had to act quickly and aggressively. It was the only way to take control of the Dark Hand Prison and end up here now. But he still didn't know much about the Great Lands, and he wasn't the only one.
This was not about Liam, Azura, or Groza. Just because a person was a resident of the Great Lands did not mean that he was knowledgeable about all subjects. He had already received the basic minimum from the world energy.
Tap.
Judith put the golem core in a bag and slung it over her shoulder.
"Alright, now I see that you weren't bluffing. You are definitely capable of something. I agree to work with you. We will discuss the terms of the alliance and trade when we return to the village. I'm sure Malin will be delighted."
While the three of them were talking, Liam headed towards the glowing rock, the one the Crystal Golem had originally been heading for.
Liam tilted his head as he looked at the sharp tip.
"What a strange stone..." he muttered. "And why is it so white and smooth? Is it really just a rock?"
Following his curiosity, Liam touched the rock. He wanted to know why the Crystal Golem had decided to go there.
In a heartbeat, his energy merged with the rock as a blue glow ran across its surface.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
At the same moment, the ground shook as Judith turned in his direction. Without hesitation, she dropped the bag and rushed forward as fast as she could.
"Agh?" Liam stepped back as something began to emerge from the ground, the soil parting to reveal an unknown object that had been hidden beneath for a long time.
Soon, he stared at the large skull as dark chains shot toward him from the blue flames.
Bump.
Something hit Liam's shoulder as Judith knocked him off his feet with the force of a charging bull.
The chains whizzed right over her, leaving two cuts on her back. Splashes of blood gushed upward, reflecting in Liam's clear, baffled eyes.
"Idiot!" Judith exclaimed at Liam before turning and waving her hand. "Everyone, get ready to fight! We've found the Remnant!"
"Remnant?" Kreyn raised an eyebrow. "What the hell is that?!"
"Look!" Judith pointed ahead.
The horned skull gave off a frightening aura, but that in itself was not a threat.
The real problem was about to appear right now, as chains formed a frame that soon began to grow bones, flesh, skin, and armor, creating a powerful guard out of nothing.
