Chapter 752: Chapter 752: Absolutely Stunning (Part 2)
Vera Xavier was somewhat satisfied with Sheldon Caldwell’s attitude. She nodded slightly and said, "I’ll think about it."
Sheldon Caldwell felt like he could spit blood when he heard that. ’She’ll think about it? What is there to think about?!’
Then, he came to his senses. Vera Xavier hadn’t been at a disadvantage at all today; from start to finish, she had the upper hand. Susan Caldwell had even paid a painful price for it. ’Isn’t that enough to appease her? Does she really have to hold such a huge grudge?’
As if she knew what he was thinking, Vera Xavier looked at him and said seriously, "Last night, you told me you’d have my back like I was your own sister. But when something actually happened today, you still took Susan Caldwell’s side. Sheldon Caldwell, you’re a liar!"
Sheldon Caldwell was speechless.
Vera Xavier scoffed, took the gun from his hand, and fired several shots at the bullseye. BANG! BANG! This time, every single one was a ten-pointer.
Sheldon Caldwell was dumbfounded. ’Even I didn’t get scores like that when I first started shooting!’
After she finished, Vera Xavier handed the gun back to him. "Sir, I don’t think I need to attend this afternoon’s training. I’d like to go back to my dorm and rest to soothe my wounded soul. What do you say?"
Sheldon Caldwell was genuinely intimidated by her today and nodded subconsciously. A slight smirk touched Vera Xavier’s lips. She gave him a salute and said, "Thank you, Sir!"
With that, she swaggered off in the direction of the dorms.
Sheldon Caldwell glanced at the gun in his hand, then at the bullseye fifty meters away. He sighed. "A monster is still a monster."
Vera Xavier left just like that, but he couldn’t find it in himself to be angry.
’He had a feeling,’ he thought, ’that Vera Xavier would probably have to carry half the weight of the upcoming competition against the military academy cadets.’
Vera Xavier didn’t actually go back to her dorm. Instead, she took Ruby Walsh on a tour of the campus.
Veridia University had a massive campus with beautiful scenery. Since Ruby Walsh’s condition had flared up on her very first day, the university was still a completely unfamiliar place to her.
Vera, however, had lived at Veridia University for a time in her past life. Although some things had changed over time, the main buildings were largely the same. So, she could act as a guide for Ruby Walsh while also satisfying her own desire to tour the campus again—killing two birds with one stone.
Vera wasn’t tired at all after they completed the loop, but Ruby Walsh was exhausted. So, Vera borrowed a bicycle from someone and gave Ruby a ride back to her dorm building.
Ruby Walsh smiled at her. "Vera, thank you. No one has ever dared to take me out like this."
Because of her severe heart condition, Ruby Walsh didn’t have many friends, let alone anyone who would take her exploring.
Vera understood the reason immediately. She smiled and said, "I guess you could say my skills make me bold!"
Ruby Walsh laughed. "Can we be friends?"
"Aren’t we already?" Vera asked with a smile.
Ruby Walsh’s eyes reddened slightly. She nodded and said, "Yeah. We’re friends now."
Vera Xavier grinned at her. "I’ve skipped a whole afternoon of training. The chief instructor is probably holding a serious grudge against me by now. I’d better get back to it. You get some rest."
Ruby Walsh nodded, her eyes filled with envy as she watched Vera bound gracefully down the steps and head quickly toward the main training ground.
Meanwhile, Vera was already mentally sifting through all the medicinal formulas she knew. ’Traditional Chinese medicine has some pretty effective remedies for a heart condition this severe.’
