Chapter 753: Chapter 753: Absolutely Stunning (3)

However, Vera Xavier had never tested those prescriptions in her past life, so she had no idea if they were effective.

Because of the ruckus caused by Vera Xavier and Susan Caldwell today, a good deal of the military training schedule had been disrupted. Since Sheldon Caldwell was a responsible instructor, he had all the students make up for the lost time that evening.

The evening’s training session was combat. After several days of intensive training, a few girls in the female squad were already beginning to stand out, demonstrating excellent military potential. Of course, Vera Xavier was the most exceptional one of them all.

She had always felt she had a violent streak, or perhaps a fascination with martial arts. She didn’t mind fighting at all. Consequently, when she slammed Crystal Quinn hard onto the ground, Crystal was on the verge of tears, while the eyes of Sheldon Caldwell and the other instructors lit up. She was the hope of this military training program!

Vera Xavier found that military training was a wonderful thing, especially under Sheldon Caldwell. You could openly beat up anyone you didn’t like, and not only would you not get scolded, you might even get praised for it. The feeling was incredible.

For that very reason, Vera Xavier showed Crystal Quinn no mercy. Her only regret was that Susan Caldwell would likely chicken out and quit the military training altogether.

And that was indeed what happened. After being taken to the school infirmary that afternoon, Susan Caldwell failed to wake up, so the school doctor had her transferred to Veridia General Hospital. Julian Caldwell and Winter Sullivan were then notified.

Although Winter Sullivan was angry with her daughter’s misconduct, she still felt a duty to care for her. As it happened, Winter had been contemplating her relationship with Julian Caldwell and hadn’t gone to the research institute, so she was able to rush over as soon as she got the call.

When she arrived, Susan Caldwell was already "awake." The moment Susan saw her, she looked uneasy but still whimpered pitifully, "Mom, I’ve missed you so much."

For some reason, Winter Sullivan wasn’t particularly angry hearing what she knew was a blatant lie. She simply said, "I think if you really missed me, you would have visited me when I was in the hospital. But you didn’t."

"I-I didn’t know..." Susan Caldwell said pitifully. "What happened that day was an accident, I swear. I never thought you’d get hurt because of it. Mom, I really didn’t mean for it to happen!"

She glanced cautiously at Winter Sullivan before continuing, "I’ve been so worried about you, Mom. It’s just... you’ve always been so strict with me. I was afraid that if I came to visit, it would just aggravate your condition, so..."

"So, you stayed away for my own good, but I’m expected to come running to see you." Winter Sullivan bluntly summarized her daughter’s logic.

Wiping away her tears, Susan Caldwell said, "No, that’s not what I meant. Mom, I really do respect you, but... can’t you be a little gentler with me?"

"Scolding Susan again?" Julian Caldwell walked in with a frown.

The moment she heard his words, Winter Sullivan’s temper flared. She whipped her head around to face him. "You see her crying and instantly assume I’m scolding her. Do you have any idea what we were just talking about?"

Julian Caldwell was struck speechless. Winter Sullivan added coldly, "You didn’t hear a single thing. What right do you have to accuse me of scolding Susan Caldwell?"

Julian Caldwell had nothing to say. When Winter Sullivan’s temper flared, she didn’t bother giving him any face. "Besides, so what if I was scolding Susan Caldwell? I’m her mother. I have every right to discipline her!"
