Chapter 756: Chapter 756: Report Performance (2)
After all their years together, Winter Sullivan had come to rely on Julian Caldwell.
However, the recent string of events had brutally severed that dependence. She and Julian Caldwell were from two different worlds, after all. At her age, talk of love, or the lack of it, felt somewhat melodramatic. But she had always had her own bottom line.
Once that line was crossed, there was no room for negotiation.
This wasn’t the past. She wasn’t young anymore, no longer the kind of person who couldn’t live without someone else.
She felt she’d learned this lesson a little late, but thankfully, it wasn’t too late.
’I was such a fool,’ she thought, ’to have only just now realized his true feelings.’
In her hospital room, Susan Caldwell heard the sound of Julian Caldwell and Winter Sullivan arguing. In truth, she was ecstatic. She couldn’t wait for them to get a divorce!
Once they divorced, she could continue to use Julian Caldwell’s influence, and Winter Sullivan would never be able to control her again!
But she knew she absolutely couldn’t show these feelings in front of Julian Caldwell. Instead, she could stir the pot a little and push them toward a complete rupture.
So when Julian Caldwell returned to Susan’s room, she was wiping away tears. "Dad, it’s all my fault. I’m the reason you and Mom fought."
"How could this be your fault?" Julian Caldwell said gently. "Your mother was provoked by Vera Xavier and has some misunderstandings about you. It’ll be fine once she cools down."
Susan Caldwell said softly, "Okay. I won’t make Mom angry again."
"You’re already doing great," Julian Caldwell said with a sigh. "Just try not to be angry with her."
Susan Caldwell agreed obediently, then said softly, "Dad, Vera Xavier has turned my brother against me, and now he makes things difficult for me at every turn. When Vera was bullying me today, he just stood there and watched. It really hurt. And since I’m still injured, can I please skip the military training?"
Julian Caldwell thought for a moment before replying, "Your current condition really isn’t suitable for military training. I’ll have my secretary arrange for your leave tomorrow. Once you’re healed, you can just go straight to your classes. We’ll forget about the training."
"I knew you dote on me the most, Dad!" Susan Caldwell said, pouting playfully.
He gave a faint smile, but his eyes held a trace of melancholy.
Susan Caldwell couldn’t be bothered with his troubles. She considered getting out of military training an unexpected bonus.
And now that she couldn’t participate in military training while Vera Xavier still had to, she felt she could use this situation to her advantage. In any case, there was no way she was going to let Vera live so comfortably!
After thinking it over, she finally came up with a good idea.
She called Skylar Crowe, who had gotten into a military academy. The very next day, Skylar came to the hospital to see her.
The moment Skylar Crowe saw her, she was furious. "Which damn bastard dared to lay a hand on our Susan? Tell me who it is! I’ll go beat them to a pulp!"
"Who else could it be but Vera Xavier?" Susan Caldwell said nonchalantly. "The last time at Trellis, I stood up for you and completely got on her bad side. I thought I’d be done with her, but I never expected she’d also get into Veridia University."
The implication was clear: she had gotten hurt because she had defended Skylar Crowe, so now Skylar had to help her figure out a way to deal with Vera Xavier.
