Chapter 772: Chapter 772: A Vicious Slap in the Face (6)

But Vera Xavier knew that regardless of whether she was right or wrong, the first thing she had to do was distance herself from the situation. She had no desire to be lumped in with the likes of Skylar Crowe.

So, she cleared her throat and said, "It was self-defense!"

It was dead silent, so when she spoke, everyone present heard her loud and clear.

Nathaniel Nathan was the first to react. "It was indeed self-defense," he said calmly.

His words served as a final verdict on the incident with Skylar Crowe. No one objected to this ruling. From their perspective, Vera Xavier’s actions were, indeed, self-defense.

She might have been a bit ruthless, but what kind of place was a military academy? Fundamentally, it was a place where the strong were respected.

Those with formidable strength easily earned the respect of others.

And after she had just landed consecutive bullseyes, she had, in essence, already established herself as a powerhouse in the minds of the leaders and headmasters.

Leader Sullivan smiled faintly. "It was self-defense. It’s just a shame!"

A shame she attended Veridia University and wasn’t a cadet at a specialized academy!

The other leaders present shared his sentiment. ’How could such an outstanding young woman not be enrolled in a specialized academy?’

At this point, no one cared about Skylar Crowe’s condition. ’A narrow-minded girl of such poor character deserved to be taught a lesson!’

Vera Xavier watched the leaders and headmasters turn and walk away one by one. It seemed they had no intention of holding her accountable for the assault. She couldn’t quite process it for a moment, so she just stood there, stunned.

An instructor brought over a stretcher and carried Skylar Crowe away.

Sheldon Caldwell walked up to Vera Xavier. "You really can’t stay out of trouble, can you? Vera Xavier, you’ve really made a name for yourself this time!"

Vera Xavier shrugged. "Can you blame me? It’s not like I wanted this to happen."

Sheldon Caldwell looked at her bright, lovely face, unsure whether he felt more proud or exasperated. After a moment of thought, he said, "I bet that after this showcase is over, every leader in the Northern Branch will know your name. Have you considered joining our company?"

Vera Xavier shook her head. "No way. I want to be a civilized person. A girl can’t be all about fighting and killing all day, can she?"

Sheldon Caldwell was speechless.

’So that’s what she thinks of us? That we just go around fighting and killing all day?’

Vera Xavier saw his expression but said nothing. She simply glanced in the direction Skylar Crowe had been carried off. He immediately fell silent. It was clear Skylar Crowe had left a terrible impression on Vera.

Vera Xavier felt another pair of eyes on her. Turning her head, she saw Nathaniel Nathan. The other leaders and headmasters were no longer with him. She immediately gave him a sweet smile, and he, in turn, raised an eyebrow, his expression impassive.

Sheldon Caldwell pursed his lips as he watched their interaction. He glanced at Vera Xavier and said, "You’re just as much of a monster as Nathaniel Nathan!"

Vera Xavier ignored him and walked out of the shooting range.

When she stepped outside, several instructors from related academies were waiting. The chief instructor asked her, "Have you considered enrolling at our academy? I can arrange to have your records transferred. After graduation, you could have a direct path into the Eagle Squadron."

The Eagle Squadron was the premier branch of the security company and had never recruited women before. For them to extend such an offer meant they saw exceptional potential in her.
