Chapter 771 - 378: The Source of the Fluctuation Is Nearby

Chapter 771: Chapter 378: The Source of the Fluctuation Is Nearby

The squad members picked up their pace and continued forward.

After walking for about ten minutes, Bai Lin came to a stop.

"We’re here. The source of the fluctuations is nearby!"

Bai Lin said, pointing at the ground.

Li Chang’an scanned their surroundings. It was a flat, empty wasteland.

"Are you sure this is the place?"

Li Chang’an asked.

"I’m sure. The source of the fluctuations is underground, at a depth of about fifty meters!"

Bai Lin said with certainty.

’Fifty meters underground... Looks like it really is an underground base!’

Li Chang’an mused.

"Captain, should we go down and take a look?"

Sun Yang asked, his voice tinged with excitement.

"Of course we’re going down. We need to find out what this is all about!"

Li Chang’an said.

"Bai, can you find the entrance?"

Li Chang’an asked.

"Trying now. The underground structure is pretty complex, so detection will take some time!"

Bai Lin replied, his fingers flying across the light screen.

"Hurry up!"

Li Chang’an said, his gaze sweeping warily over their surroundings.

Time ticked by, second by second. The area remained silent, with no sign of movement.

Suddenly, Bai Lin’s voice rang out.

"Found it! The entrance is fifty meters ahead. The ground is well disguised. It’s hard to spot if you don’t look closely!"

Bai Lin said, pointing forward.

Li Chang’an followed Bai Lin’s pointed finger and, after careful observation, did indeed spot a faint, unnatural trace on the ground.

It was a patch of sand with a slightly different color, barely distinguishable from the surrounding area. You wouldn’t notice it without looking carefully.

"The disguise is actually pretty good!"

Shen Qiuyue remarked.

"Let’s go, we’ll check it out!"

Li Chang’an said, leading the squad members toward the entrance.

As they got closer, Li Chang’an examined the entrance carefully.

The entrance was a circular hole in the ground, covered by a large camouflaged panel that blended in with the surrounding sand, making it difficult to discern.

"Pretty professional work!"

Li Chang’an commented.

"Captain, how do we get in?"

Sun Yang asked.

"Brute force!"

Li Chang’an said, drawing his Saw Chain Sword.

The Saw Chain Sword let out a low HUM, its blade gleaming with a cold light.

Li Chang’an raised the Saw Chain Sword and brought it down hard on the camouflaged panel.

BOOM!

With a loud crash, the Saw Chain Sword shattered the panel into pieces, revealing the entrance to the hole below.

The entrance was pitch-black and bottomless, and a cold, sinister aura emanated from within.

"Be careful. There might be people inside!"

Li Chang’an warned, taking the lead and stepping into the entrance.

The squad members followed close behind him.

The entrance led to a long corridor. The walls on both sides were constructed from metal, giving them a cold, hard appearance.

The corridor was dim, with only a faint light that was barely enough to see the path ahead.

"This place is really well-hidden!"

Sun Yang said as he walked.

"To be able to build such a large underground base here... It seems this unknown faction is quite formidable!"

Shen Qiuyue commented.

"Careful, people ahead!"

Bai Lin suddenly said, his tone growing serious.

Li Chang’an immediately stopped and signaled for the rest of the squad to halt.

"How many?"

Li Chang’an asked in a low voice.

"Five of them, right at the end of the corridor. They’ve already spotted us!"

Bai Lin replied.

’Five? Looks like they’re guards!’

Li Chang’an said.

"Prepare for battle!"

With that, Li Chang’an drew his Saw Chain Sword and charged forward.

Han Ruoxi and Shen Qiuyue also prepared for combat, following close behind him.

Sun Yang shouldered his Pulse Gun, while Bai Lin fell back to provide ranged support.

At the end of the corridor, five men in black uniforms stood waiting, weapons in hand, watching Li Chang’an and his team with wary expressions.

"Who are you? How dare you trespass in this base!"

A man who appeared to be the leader shouted, his tone arrogant.

"Interstellar Warrior Corps, Insect Hunter Squad. We’re here under orders to investigate!"

Li Chang’an replied, his voice calm.

"Interstellar Warrior Corps? Insect Hunter Squad? Never heard of them!"

The leader sneered, his face full of disdain.

"I think you lot are tired of living. Coming all the way out here just to die!"

"Us? Die? I think you’re the ones who are about to die!"

Sun Yang couldn’t help but taunt.

"Kid, you’re asking for it!"

The leader roared and waved his hand.

"Get them! Finish them off!"

The five men in black immediately charged toward Li Chang’an’s team.

They wielded a variety of weapons—Energy Guns, Laser Swords, and other oddly shaped armaments. They looked like a gang of desperados.

"Hmph, they don’t know their own limits!"

Shen Qiuyue scoffed and was the first to charge.

Her figure moved like a phantom, weaving between the men in black. With every flash of her blade, she struck a vital point with pinpoint accuracy.

Han Ruoxi followed right after, releasing arcs of electricity from her hands that left the men in black paralyzed and unable to move.

Sun Yang, shouldering his Pulse Gun, opened fire on the men in black. Beams of Pulse Energy shot out, sending them flying.

Meanwhile, Bai Lin provided ranged support from the rear. His light weapon had a high rate of fire and great accuracy, effectively suppressing the enemy’s firepower.

As for Li Chang’an, he charged straight for the leader.

The leader was fairly skilled. He wielded a Laser Sword and his swordsmanship was sharp, but compared to Li Chang’an, he was still leagues behind.

Li Chang’an’s Body Technique was agile and his Swordsmanship exquisite. The Saw Chain Sword seemed to come alive in his hands; every swing carried a piercing Sword Qi that overwhelmed the leader, leaving him breathless.
