Chapter 1035: Chapter 1035: Enter The Cultivation Pagoda Again
"Good luck." In the end, that was the only hollow phrase Li Qiao could offer.
After the Poison Master class officially concluded, Bai Xifeng headed directly toward the Cultivation Pagoda. To her surprise, a remarkably large crowd of students had already gathered around the plaza. The exact moment she arrived, many of them immediately whipped their heads around to stare at her.
Bai Xifeng was slightly taken aback by the sudden surge of unwanted attention. However, she quickly brushed off the intense stares and walked straight toward the back of the queue. She patiently lined up to register her entry.
While waiting in the moving line, she suddenly spotted a highly familiar figure storming over toward her. It was Xie Lanying.
"You seriously want to enter the Cultivation Pagoda again today?" Xie Lanying asked immediately, her arms crossed over her chest.
"Oh... Hi." Bai Xifeng waved cheerfully, flashing a bright smile.
"I am being entirely serious right now." Xie Lanying glared at her, unamused by the friendly greeting.
"Of course I am going in." Bai Xifeng pointed casually toward the registration counter. "What do you think I am doing here? Practising how to stand in a straight line?"
Xie Lanying pinched the bridge of her nose, a wave of exhaustion washing over her.
"Even though I was not physically here yesterday, I heard from multiple people that you were badly injured and covered in blood." Xie Lanying’s stern expression softened just a fraction. "Do you really absolutely need to go back in there today?"
"My dear." Bai Xifeng grinned widely, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "You really don’t need to worry about me."
Xie Lanying already intensely disliked that specific grin. It usually meant trouble.
"I will do my absolute best not to get injured as badly as I did yesterday." Bai Xifeng added.
"You..." Xie Lanying sighed deeply, shaking her head. "I already know that talking to you right now is exactly like talking to a stubborn stone wall."
Bai Xifeng simply grinned even more brightly, entirely unbothered.
"You would not listen to a single word I say, no matter what." Xie Lanying muttered.
Bai Xifeng nodded shamelessly. "Correct."
Xie Lanying looked for a brief moment as though she desperately wanted to throw something heavy directly at her head.
"Fine. I want the full, unfiltered story after you come out later." Xie Lanying paused, calculating the time. "Actually, how many hours are you planning to spend inside the tower today?"
"Hmm..." Bai Xifeng thought for a brief moment, tapping her chin. "Probably around eight hours."
"I see." Xie Lanying nodded, turning on her heel. "Then I will come right back to this spot in exactly eight hours."
Finally, it became Bai Xifeng’s turn to enter the gates. The guard on duty today was not Cui Bojing, but after yesterday’s legendary incident, practically every single guard stationed at the pagoda already knew exactly who Bai Xifeng was. The guard quickly and silently processed her student badge.
After taking a deep, stabilising breath, Bai Xifeng stepped firmly inside the Cultivation Pagoda.
The familiar, disorienting spatial distortion immediately surrounded her senses. The very next moment, the world stabilised, and she found herself standing on the exact same trial floor as before.
The eerie environment looked identical. The endless forest. The towering trees. The heavy, stagnant air. The faint, barely audible rustling sounds of simulated nature. Everything appeared completely, deceptively normal.
However, Bai Xifeng knew much better this time. Something dangerous was lurking somewhere nearby in the shadows. Something completely unseen. Something that had nearly carved her to pieces yesterday. Something was patiently waiting for her to let her guard down.
The exact millisecond that thought crossed her mind...
Slash!
A sharp, invisible attack struck her squarely on the shoulder. A fresh, stinging wound instantly ripped open across her skin, and dark blood immediately began to seep through the fabric of her clean clothing.
"Again? Right off the bat?" Bai Xifeng clicked her tongue in deep irritation.
She had not even had enough time to properly prepare herself or analyse her surroundings. Just like yesterday, she still could not see the physical form of the attacker. Nor could she effectively predict or defend against its strikes. She quickly realised she needed to figure out two crucial things immediately.
First, how to keep herself defended. Second, how to actually see this damn creature. Because the absolute moment she figured out its trick, she was going to beat it mercilessly into the dirt.
Without wasting a single second more, Bai Xifeng immediately began moving her body. This time, however, she did not rely on the physical strength of her own legs to sprint. Instead, she instantly activated a high-grade wind rune.
Gentle, rapid currents of elemental wind immediately gathered beneath the soles of her boots, lifting her slightly and carrying her swiftly through the dense forest like a leaf in a storm. The active rune consumed very little of her overall spiritual energy while seamlessly allowing her to maintain a constant, high-speed movement. As she had highly expected, the invisible creature did not launch another attack while she was continuously in motion.
Bai Xifeng narrowed her eyes thoughtfully as she glided between the ancient trees.
"Teacher Ji said that something is not born to be seen by the eyes," she mumbled to herself, rubbing her chin as she pondered the riddle. "What exactly does that mean in this context?"
The wind currents carried her smoothly through the endless forest while her brain continued working at maximum capacity.
"I obviously can’t see it with my physical eyes." Bai Xifeng frowned deeply. "Fine. Then how on earth am I supposed to see it? Do I need to use another organ to see it?"
