Chapter 1060: Baihu Fainted

Chapter 1060: Chapter 1060: Baihu Fainted

Bai Xifeng forced herself to look up into the sky. The dark, heavy tribulation clouds churned with violent, apocalyptic fury as thousands of smaller bolts of purple lightning began gathering together into a single, massive point.

The final, decisive strike was coming.

BOOM!!

A massive, blinding pillar of pure heavenly lightning descended from the heavens with enough raw force to split both heaven and earth completely apart. It struck Baihu dead-centre. The brilliant, crushing pillar of silver light completely swallowed his tiny body, turning the entire clearing into a blinding white void.

For several long, suffocating moments, everything in the forest became absolutely silent. Then, the thick tribulation clouds slowly, gradually began to disperse into wisps of vapour. Warm, golden sunlight broke through the darkness once more, painting the bamboo forest in a gentle light.

"It is officially over." Ji Yuan said softly.

The very instant the words left his mouth, Bai Xifeng rushed toward the clearing without the slightest shred of hesitation. She threw herself down onto her knees beside the little tiger, her entire heart aching with deep sorrow.

Baihu’s breathing was incredibly weak and shallow. His small, scorched body was covered in severe burn marks, yet the underlying spiritual aura radiating from his skin had become incomparably, terrifyingly stronger than ever before.

She wanted desperately to gather him up into a tight hug, yet her hands hovered over him, terrified that touching his raw skin might accidentally hurt him further.

Slowly... agonisingly... Baihu’s heavy eyelids fluttered open. His new, deep golden eyes met Bai Xifeng’s tearful ones. A faint, tired smile seemed to appear on his tiny, scorched face.

"Xifeng..." Baihu called out softly.

Bai Xifeng froze completely, her breath catching in her throat. Even though the two of them had communicated countless times before through their internal, telepathic mental connection, this was the absolute first time she had ever heard Baihu physically speak words aloud with his own voice. His childish voice was soft, weak, and strained, yet it was incredibly clear to her ears.

Right after calling her name, Baihu’s eyes closed once more, his strength giving out as he fainted into a deep sleep.

"Baihu!" Bai Xifeng cried out anxiously, her panic surging back.

"Do not worry yourself too much." Ji Yuan walked over calmly, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "He has simply exhausted every single drop of his physical and spiritual strength to survive the tribulation. Let him rest. Once his body assimilates the new energy and he wakes up, he will be completely fine."

Only after hearing Ji Yuan’s authoritative, calm medical explanation did Bai Xifeng finally manage to calm her racing heart. She carefully, meticulously picked the little tiger up from the dirt, treating him as though he were made of the most fragile glass in existence.

Instead of sending his vulnerable body back into the active environment of the Mirror World immediately, she carried him gently into her own private room inside the academy building. She did not dare risk changing his immediate surroundings while he had just completed such a monumental, volatile breakthrough. Letting him recover peacefully in her own bed was the safest, most secure choice available.

Even after everything had finally settled down and the danger had passed, Bai Xifeng had absolutely no intention of resting her own tired body. Instead, she immediately marched down the hall and locked herself securely inside her personal alchemy room.

One medicinal bottle after another... one blazing furnace after another... the rich, thick fragrance of rare medicinal herbs continuously drifted out from beneath the locked door. She refined pill after pill, batch after batch, all of them specially and meticulously prepared with her finest ingredients to help Baihu’s internal injuries recover.

Only after producing several hundred high-grade recovery pills did her hands finally stop moving.

When she finally walked outside the room, the sky had already become much darker, painted in shades of twilight. She slowly walked toward the stone gazebo in the courtyard.

Ji Yuan was still sitting there quietly in the dim light, looking exactly as he had hours before.

"Teacher Ji, aren’t you going to go inside and rest?" Bai Xifeng asked gently, walking up the steps.

She still vividly and clearly remembered how Ji Yuan had coughed up blood after maintaining such a powerful, interconnected barrier against dozens of masters. Even though she had already personally given him her highest-grade healing elixirs, she still could not help but feel deeply worried about his condition.

"I am perfectly fine." Ji Yuan replied softly before turning his calm gaze to look at her tired face. "You did not take any time to rest either. What exactly have you been doing in there all this time?"

From Bai Xifeng’s slightly pale, thoroughly exhausted complexion and the faint scent of smoke clinging to her clothes, Ji Yuan could easily tell that she had not slept for even a single moment since the siege began.

"I was making recovery pills for Baihu." Bai Xifeng answered honestly, taking a seat across from him. She then glanced nervously toward the heavy entrance of the Inscriber Division. "Teacher Ji... your personal barrier is still fully active. Are you really alright maintaining it for this long?"

"I am." Ji Yuan’s tone remained perfectly even and unbothered. "Even though the heavenly breakthrough has already concluded, the little one is still in an extremely weakened, vulnerable state. Those outside experts are well aware of that fact. They may attempt to rally their forces and force their way back in here at any given moment."

"Oh..." Bai Xifeng nodded thoughtfully, her expression turning serious.

She had been thinking the exact same tactical thing. That was precisely the underlying reason why she had not recalled Baishe, Heishe, and Tao-chan back into her soul space yet.
